70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 522: Ancestral Rite
"Why are you so stubborn?" Yun Ji looked helplessly at Yin Yang. He had already thought about how he intended to collaborate with Yin Yang. After all, he had long expected that Yin Yang would definitely not agree to sell him the mine; his purpose from the beginning was to seek formal cooperation.
"That’s my business. Even if I exploit that mountain, I have my own people; I don’t need to work with you," Yin Yang said blandly.
Yin Yang looked at Yun Ji. This guy was really bold to try and involve him in that.
"I came with sincerity, you know. I could make the value of your mine increase a hundredfold. Isn’t Young Master Yin going to consider it at all?" Yun Ji looked at Yin Yang with a hint of gloom in his eyes.
"Not interested. In my hands, it won’t be worthless either," Yin Yang said coldly. He could guess some of Yun Ji’s thoughts, but he just didn’t want to get involved in those illegal businesses.
The way the Yun Family believed they could act recklessly just because they had connections—it was just inviting disaster to cooperate with them.
After sending away the disgruntled Young Master Yun, Yin Yang called over the person in charge, a middle-aged man with a scar on his face.
"How did Yun Ji find out about the situation with the mine?" Yin Yang asked calmly as he looked at the man in front of him. This person was someone his grandfather adopted back in the day and was loyal to him, or else Yin Yang wouldn’t dare rely on him.
"It was someone from the Yun Family who discovered it while we weren’t paying attention," the man said, looking down, a bit guilty.
"Mr. An, no need to blame yourself. If it’s discovered, then it’s discovered. Just strengthen the guards on the mountain. I’m not planning to exploit the mine for the time being, and I don’t want this matter to blow up. Also, regarding Yun Ji, he seems rather impulsive; find a way to cause some trouble for him. I suspect his enterprises are quite illegal; arrange for someone to provide evidence to the authorities," said Yin Yang, narrowing his eyes slightly.
"Understood, Young Master," said Mr. An, nodding. If it weren’t for Yin Yang, he would have wanted to deal with the Yun Family long ago. Did they really think Lan City was their territory just because Young Master Yin was moving industries to other places?
When Yin Yang returned to the room, Xu Mumu was already asleep, sleeping quite soundly.
The gloom on Yin Yang’s face instantly dissipated. He needed to work harder to provide a better life for his children in the future.
Taking off his coat, he carefully climbed onto the bed.
Perhaps sensing Yin Yang’s presence, Xu Mumu turned over directly into Yin Yang’s arms.
Yin Yang almost wanted to laugh; his little wife was simply too adorable.
Carefully holding his little wife, he started to rest. Perhaps because she was pregnant, Xu Mumu slept more soundly and for a longer time.
By the time Xu Mumu woke up, Yin Yang was already at one side looking at the account book, and the sun was almost setting. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
"Did I sleep that long?" Xu Mumu looked at the time on the watch and noticed it was almost five, and it was getting late.
Xu Mumu rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit uncomfortable from sleeping too long.
"Not too long. Do you want to take a stroll outside?" Yin Yang asked with a smile.
The Yin family might be large, but with just the two of them living there, it felt somewhat empty. It would be nice to have more children in the future.
"Yes." Xu Mumu nodded, feeling uncomfortable from lying down for too long; a bit of exercise was indeed necessary.
The two casually strolled toward the small garden as Xu Mumu asked about Yun Ji’s visit. Yin Yang did not hide it from her.
Xu Mumu was somewhat surprised as she listened.
"Why are you holding onto that mine? Doesn’t the family have a jewelry business that needs these jade materials?" Xu Mumu asked curiously.
"The materials needed for the shop are generally purchased from the gambling stone market. This mine has a good quality, but mining it now isn’t very valuable. We’ll discuss it in a few years or leave it for our children," Yin Yang said calmly, as prices now are too low to sell for much value. As for Yun Ji’s words, he just dismissed them as nonsense.
Listening to Yin Yang, Xu Mumu felt he made much sense. Truly, it wasn’t worth selling for much now, and waiting another ten or twenty years to exploit it would be perfectly adequate. By then, the country would be more prosperous, and there would be more wealthy people.
"We’ll leave these for our children in the future; let them do as they please with them," Yin Yang said with a smile.
"I think you’re just lazy and want to leave this pile of things for the kids," said Xu Mumu, her lips twitching.
"That’s exactly why. You know us well. Our affairs have already spread far and wide. I don’t even have time to play with you properly. If I were still unmarried or hadn’t married you, I might think there was no issue gradually building things up. But now that I have you, I want to spend more time with you," said Yin Yang with a smile.
"Alright, alright, I reckon you’ll have to wait quite some years before you can take a break," Xu Mumu said with a laugh.
"Yes, I know, so I need to work a little harder, do more while I’m busy these years, so our children can have it easier in the future," said Yin Yang with a smile.
"Poor little one, not even born yet, and his dad’s already thinking of passing work to him," Xu Mumu said, touching her belly.
"We can have more children. Anyway, the Yin Family’s industries are numerous, so there’s plenty to divide among them," Yin Yang said with a smile. He thought, his father must have had the same idea back then. But unfortunately, Grandpa only recognized him as the sole heir.
"You’re right. I don’t want our child to be as burdened as you. If we have more children and let them manage separately, it won’t be so hard," Xu Mumu answered seriously, thinking it would indeed be tough to have only one child.
The two took a stroll, throwing some bait into the pond for the fish. Although the fish were chubby, Xu Mumu still found them rather cute.
There wasn’t much happening at the Yin residence. Since she had slept quite a bit in the afternoon, Xu Mumu was very alert in the evening and found it difficult to sleep. Somehow, Yin Yang managed to find two storybooks for her to read.
The next day was the ancestral worship day. The Yin Family’s ancestral hall was well-preserved, housing tablets of the Yin ancestors.
Xu Mumu accompanied Yin Yang in worshiping these ancestors, and at this point, she learned her late mother-in-law’s name was Song Chaoyu.
Xu Mumu didn’t see much left behind by Yin Yang’s parents in the Yin residence, but there was a memorial portrait. The woman in the portrait had delicate and elegant features, much like Yin Yang. Her demeanor was warm and gentle, clearly a lady of noble birth.
"Mom was so beautiful," Xu Mumu commented as she offered incense, looking at Yin Yang.
"There’s nothing particularly beautiful about it, just so-so," Yin Yang replied indifferently. Though his mother treated him well, he was merely a tool for her to compete with other women for favor. Unfortunately, her schemes weren’t enough; she couldn’t rival the women outside.
