Chapter 531: Wishful Thinking

"The little brat has quite a few tricks up his sleeve," Yin Yang said with a twitch of his mouth.

"Alright, alright, I won’t give it to mom," Xu Mumu couldn’t help but chuckle, understanding the little rascal’s intentions. How could her little brother be so adorable?

After making a round outside, Yin Yang took Xu Mumu and the others to his company first. The building was very tall and beautifully constructed, and Xu Mumu quite liked it here.

This was where Yin Yang usually came to work, and there were still some things that needed his attention here.

Xu Mumu played with her two younger brothers in the office next door, listening to the reports from others. She had been here a few times and was familiar with the situation.

"Sis, your husband looks so serious when he’s working," Xu Minglei looked over and whispered to Xu Mumu.

"That’s being responsible, it’s being meticulous," Xu Mumu said with a smile, watching Yin Yang’s serious work demeanor, and she thought he looked more handsome than ever.

Indeed, a man who takes his work seriously is the most attractive.

Yin Yang’s assistant was a scholarly man with glasses, who looked very shrewd.

This person, Yin Yang had mentioned before, was a distant cousin of his. His abilities were quite good, so Yin Yang had him come to be his assistant.

And he hadn’t let him down at all, with outstanding work capabilities, quickly completing the tasks assigned to him. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Yin Yang was looking at the project proposal in his hand, listening to the sibling duo next door, and slightly curled his lips into a smile.

Meanwhile, Min Yi’an glanced at the small room next door, noting that Young Master Yin valued his wife more than he had imagined, allowing them to listen in such a setting without worrying about leaking any business secrets.

There were quite a few things to deal with here, but Yin Yang handled them fairly quickly. Mainly because his brother-in-law still had matters for him to assist with. Some of the people from back home didn’t intend to stay for dinner, and he needed to help arrange transportation for them back. It’s quite a distance from here to the village, or to send the Jiang Family’s people back, which isn’t close either.

"Done already?" Xu Mumu looked at Yin Yang in surprise. She was playing with puzzles with her little brother, and Yin Yang had finished everything in just over an hour. She thought it would take the entire afternoon.

"Yeah, done for now. The rest can be handled tomorrow, no rush," Yin Yang said with a slight, relaxed smile.

"Were you bored waiting here?" Yin Yang asked his little wife with a smile.

"Not at all, you even have toys here," Xu Mumu shook her head, noting the interesting educational toys placed around.

"These were sent by Huo Qingze. He wants to be the godfather of our child," Yin Yang said with a laugh. Huo Qingze, not hurrying to find a partner and have his own kids, instead aiming to be his kid’s godfather, had earned two eye rolls from Yin Yang. He wished.

"You agreed?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile. She actually thought Huo Qingze was quite nice — after all, he’s the protagonist in the book, excelling in every way.

"Nope, let him dream on," Yin Yang responded calmly.

"I think it would be totally fine. Why did you refuse?" Xu Mumu looked at Yin Yang, bewildered.

"We’ll decide later. What if our kid doesn’t like him? Look at his deadpan face, not at all likable. How could our kid possibly like him?" Yin Yang smirked. Huo Qingze was dreaming too big wanting to snatch his child.

"I think Huo is quite good. Doesn’t brother-in-law like him? Aren’t you friends?" Xu Minglei looked at his brother-in-law in confusion. The adult world was so complicated.

"Why like him? We’re just collaborators, normal friends," Yin Yang shrugged. In reality, he had a good relationship with Huo Qingze, or else he wouldn’t constantly joke and tease with him. If they weren’t friends, he wouldn’t bother.

Xu Mumu was tired of dealing with his duplicity and decided to take them home.

Back home, Xu Minghui and Li Caixia were sitting there, looking at the gifts brought over for the occasion. Xu Minghui was organizing the cash gifts, while Li Caixia was sorting the various things given. Mostly food and daily necessities, which were easy to handle. The family had a fast-food business, so those could be sold within a day.

The necessities included some fabric and also some cotton and bedding sets. Everything was practical, and Li Caixia had Jiang Yuxiu put them away. They could use these at their own pace, while the fabric was left out to make clothes for the family.

Though her own tailoring skills weren’t great, she had money now. Spending a little to have someone make clothes from the fabric was quite cost-effective.

"Mumu, you’re back! Come and see if you like any of these fabrics. How about this one? I’ll have someone make clothes for the baby in your belly," Li Caixia said, holding a colorful piece of fabric up against Xu Mumu.

Xu Mumu cringed, having learned quite a bit over time, but realizing her mom’s taste hadn’t improved much. Look at that fabric choice, it’s too ugly.

"Mom, it’s okay; leave these for brother and sister-in-law. Yin Yang has already bought a lot for us," Xu Mumu said, shaking her head and secretly pinching Yin Yang to make him step in.

"Yes, mom, I’ve bought plenty already. We don’t need this. A child’s skin is delicate, and this fabric is a bit rough, not suitable for them, so let’s skip it," Yin Yang promptly caught on. He also thought the fabric was unattractive, and imagining his little treasure wearing it made him shudder; better not.

"You’re right. Fine, you don’t need this. Daughter-in-law, take it and have some clothes made, a dress might look nice," seeing her own daughter’s full-blown refusal, Li Caixia reluctantly handed the fabric to Jiang Yuxiu, considering it the nicest piece of the lot.

"Thank you, mom," Jiang Yuxiu didn’t refuse, despite the fabric not being great, but it was already decent enough.

Honestly, she’d long been aware of her mother-in-law’s bias towards her sister-in-law, but even now, she realized she knew too little. Hopefully, her mother-in-law wouldn’t overdo it.

Xu Mumu, not knowing what her sister-in-law thought, sneaked a peek at Jiang Yuxiu. Seeing no other negative expression, she felt relieved.

Mainly, it was her brother and sister-in-law who interacted more, as she had only met her sister-in-law a few times and didn’t know her well.

The cash gifts had already been put away by Xu Minghui, something he had discussed with Li Caixia beforehand to avoid future miscommunication within the family regarding the money.
