Havenway District—Denvi Town

"ROOARRRR"

A large green skinned beast ripped straight out of a fantasy book roared as it waved it’s massive club in anger, sending out a powerful shockwave that instantly hurled the group of D-Rank heroes backward.

Its furious red eye scanned the group of heroes, letting out its hot, steamy breath. Saliva leaking through the gaps of its large sharp canines, its hunched back gave it an even menacing look.

"I thought orcs were things of fantasy, how come we’re facing one now.." one of the heroes asked letting out a heavy breath, they’d been throwing attacks relentlessly, but so far they’d only managed a few scratches on the orc.

"Dumbass, are you asking me? That stuff doesn’t even look like an impure, don’t know where it spawned out from" the lady replied out of breath.

"Enough!" A loud voice echoed through the space.

Almost instantly, the Orc’s eyes widened as an overwhelming force came over it, it tried to resist its muscles bulging and its eyes protruding from their sockets until...

SQUASH!

It was pressed to the floor, the blood barely leaving the constricted space.

And floating right in front of the now deceased orc was a figure, in a white and black suit, his cape fluttering under the wind, his chest out in an imposing stance, hands by his waist.

A chiseled jawline and a calm and collected aura permeating around him. Giving the true presence of a hero.

"Nectron!" The heroes’ eyes lit up as Nectron appeared before them.

"Oh god! Look at how hot he is"

"Jeez, Nectron marry me!" The civilians squealed upon seeing his figure.

Whispers broke out all around him, heroes and civilians alike speaking of this one man. Flashes of camera exploded as they all fought to frame the grand moment.

Standing off to the side, Selena didn’t look the least impressed, ’HA just had to send this guy in?’ she thought letting out a tired sigh, ’The issue is actually quite serious so it makes sense. Besides, Nicholas is not here yet?’ she thought, scanning her eyes through the street and almost as though he’d read her mind there he was coming towards the scene.

"Took you long enough, where did you even go?" Selena asked, looking at him irritatedly, she already had to go through the stress of urging Dana to pay him today, just so she could drag him to the field.

’While he can be annoying, he is very reliable’ she’d come to accept that much as a fact.

"I just had to put some things in place," Nicholas replied bluntly.

Selena rolled her eyes at him, lighting up her cigarette as she turned back to the scene, "I’ve already had Dana send you the total payment. It totalled up to a million, you raised a crowd with all the missions you’ve completed so far" Selena said her brows twitching as she called the amount, she didn’t know exactly how to feel about the money, ’That’s my years worth of earning. But as much as I’d hate to admit, he deserved it’

"I expected more, that’s a bit small"

Selena nearly choked on her cigarette, her eyes nearly popping out of their sockets as she heard Nicholas outrageous words.

"What are you even using all that money to do?!" She snapped.

"You’ll see" Nicholas replied calmly.

Selena took a long calming breath clearing her thoughts, at this point, adapting to Nicholas madness was the only way forward, ’Sir Eric rejected my request to drop this guy off’ she thought, her brows twitching in annoyance as she remembered the meeting they had in the office the other day.

Eric nearly licked her boot just so she could hang around Nicholas for a while longer, ’How did that guy even make it to manager? At this point I might just be with this guy for the rest of my career. His He’s been boosting my status, though. I guess that’s a win for me’

"What’s the situation here" Nicholas asked, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Selena glanced towards the field, the police had already stepped in to move the crazy fanatics who were all over Nectron away from the area.

"I can’t say much myself. All I know is that some strange creatures have been popping out in this area lately, and most of them are straight out of a fantasy book and it doesn’t seem to be from the plague. These are actual beasts, like they were manifested into reality" Selena said her gaze fixed on the stains that remained of the deceased orc.

"So what’s with the crowd?" Nicholas asked as he saw the crowd of heroes.

He quickly noticed Nectron floating above the smeared blood below him, Night Ninja that he’d saved, Bolt who seemed to have healed from his injury and then...

’.. She’s been staring at me for a while’ Nicholas thought as he glanced towards the figure, it was none other than Vixen.

Her gaze held an unusual coldness as she looked at him, ’Did I do anything to her?’ Nicholas thought surprised by her cold gaze.

But he didn’t have time to dwell on it.

"Ahhhh!" A loud shout tore through the air as a group of civilians ran out from another street, trailing right behind them was another group of goblins, their mouths dripping with saliva as they chased behind the humans.

Just then—

SQUASH!

SPLATTER!

BANG!

Their blood painted the earth in an instant as soon as they appeared before the heroes.

One ripped apart by space, the other pressed to the ground like meat paste and the last burning into nothingness.

’They’re fast and skilled’ Nicholas noted seeing how easily Nectron, Vixen and Pyron had destroyed the group of orcs.

’All three top heroes of the association’ Nicholas quickly acknowledged their presence, so far he’d only seen a bit of Vixen in action and even used it himself. The remaining two remained a mystery.

The civilians were quickly led out by the police and all the others in the area were led out as well.

And slowly Nectron turned his gaze to the group of heroes, his face stern and serious as he looked at them, "Alright everyone, listen up." He stated, immediately dragging the attention of all the heroes gathered to him.

"The civilians have all evacuated this town, and we don’t have any idea what sort of threat we’re dealing with. What we do know though, is that this town is teeming with strange monsters and we have to clear them out to make this place habitable for the citizens again. If you find anything strange in the course of the mission or find yourself in any trouble, you should make an alarm immediately and reach out to others for support, better if you reach out to me" as he was talking, he quickly noticed the figure in the back slowly walking away and seemed to pay no attention to what he was saying.

Nectrons brows furrowed as he tried to ignore him thinking he’d still turn back but the figure continued moving away, eventually—

"You there! Where are you heading to, I’m not done giving orders for the mission"

Selena turned, soon finding the figure that was by her side, she instantly facepalmed as she saw Nicholas far back moving away from the crowd..

"You didn’t pay me, I don’t take orders from anyone who doesn’t pay my bills"

Shocked gasp quickly tore through the entire crowd of heroes.

Selena looked between Nectron and Nicholas and felt a headache forming.

One was the association’s golden child.

The other was its most expensive problem.

’He says he doesn’t like attention, but somehow lies in the center of it all’ She sighed.

Her thoughts were quickly interrupted as she noticed the sun. Selena quickly turned her gaze upward.

"What’s that?" A hero asked, staring up at the sky confusion all over his face.
