Chapter 567: Silk Threads [I]

The integration of the spider named Silk into Elaina’s farm is very fast. Just like what it promised, it doesn’t eat any kind of meat and only cares about either fruits or honey produced by the bees. The bees have yet to fully accept the spider’s presence with them, as they only give the honey reluctantly to the spider as a means that the spider won’t eat them in exchange for the honey.

As for the "payment" silk will do in exchange for allowing her to stay on Elaina’s farm peacefully, the spider produces silk threads for Elaina and gives them to the farmer daily. Thanks to this, Elaina has a lot of threads that she can use anytime, and she can even sell a few of them to the market if needed.

"I must say, Sis. These threads are something else. I can’t believe that the spider who recently joined the farm would be so willing to give these to us. These are top-tier threads that might be considered luxurious for other people!" Julia exclaimed as she examined the threads one by one.

"I know. Which is why I am grateful that this spider is not an enemy and can be reasoned with. Otherwise, I won’t be getting these threads, and it would be hard to get a replacement for these kinds of things." Elaina smiled, sipping coffee as she looked at the pile of threads that Elaina prepared. "So, how are the threads working? Are they suitable for creating clothes that can be enchanted or capable of withstanding magic?"

The main reason Elaina is currently handling these threads right now and is being examined is to determine whether they are a good thread alternative to create clothes that are capable of either handling magic or repelling magic.

As to why she wanted to have them, she wanted to create clothes that she would gift her beloved twins on their upcoming birthday.

These clothes will be something that they can use when fighting in the caves or wear during fights. Something similar to that. She didn’t want it to be too fancy, just something that would be utilized by her children.

"These threads are highly compatible, Sis. They are quite resilient to magic to the point that they actively repel magic spells that can cause harm. The only thing these threads seem to have no problem with is enhancement skills. I tried casting a few skills that enhance the body using magic and a few skills that heal wounds as well, and it seems that this type of magic spell is fine and would not be repelled. Only those actively repelled skills are those that can cause major harm. These threads are perfect for whatever you are planning to make, Sis!" Julia reported.

"That’s actually a good thing to know, Julia. Sorry about this, alright? I have disturbed you with your tasks with the Grand Sage," Elaina felt apologetic just because she borrowed Julia from the Grand Sage, who tasked her to help analyze the situation that happened with his sudden return to his younger self.

"No worries, Sis. It’s not like the master is actually in a hurry for the analysis on his body, and he also agreed when I asked for permission earlier, so you don’t need to be too guilty about borrowing me for this kind of testing," Julia smiled.

"Did the Grand Sage remain young even now? Still no active changes that would indicate he would return to his original self?" Elaina asked.

"Nope. I even felt a bit awkward when I talked with Master for the first time in his young form, but there’s nothing to worry about. Although he looks young right now, that Master of mine remained the same grumpy old man as before. Just a tad bit younger," Julia chuckled as she was preparing to return.

"Going back to the Grand Sage’s tower?" Elaina stood up to escort Julia outside.

"Yeah. The young but old man might grumble again if I didn’t return so soon. He insisted that my assistance would be necessary so I have no choice here, Sis. But no worries, if you have other concerns, I will gladly take a look of them," Julia grab her cloak and hat, wearing them as they are nearing the doorway.

"Still, thanks for the time, Julia. Once you are done with the job with the Grand Sage, come back since I will be baking some strawberry shortcakes with all the strawberries I have harvested not too long ago."

"I will be looking forward to that, Sis," Julia smiled before snapping her finger, disappearing from where she is standing.

Now that Julia has returned to the Grand Sage tower, Elaina went inside her room and grab her sewing kit that has been stashed away for quite some time. Her knitting needles, scissors, regular needles and other tools for sewing are all inside the kit that has been stashed for quite some time in her luggage, never seeing the light of day since her arrival in Darcero Kingdom. She doesn’t have much reason to do so, due to the lack of good threads to make things with, and also due to how busy she was at the farm.

Right now though, Elaina is not that busy in the farm anymore and she has workers helping her with farm work who are more efficient in doing tasks compared to her doing it all alone, so she is now entrusting most of the work to them, accompanying them from time to time to assist with farm work.

With the threads supplied by Silk, Elaina is going to get busy again. The quality of the threads supplied by Silk is quite high to the point that if she bought it in the market, there’s a good chance she will need to fork out a hefty amount of money just to buy a single roll of threads. Getting a supply for a lifetime is something that she is happy to have.

"Hmm, now that I think about it, if I decided to sew clothes, wouldn’t my children outgrow them considering they are still kids?" Elaina mumbled to herself.

"[Wouldn’t creating accessories or something like a scarf or cloak would be much better? They are not restricted in sizes yet they can act the same way as regular clothes would do. There’s a lot of things you can make those threads with and not just going directly to the route of making clothes.]"

"True, that’s a good suggestion..." Elaina nodded after hearing that suggestion but frowned when she realized something. "What? Who was that?"

"[Oh, sorry about that, Elaina. I am just testing things here on my end. Didn’t think it would be very effective, see. Don’t be afraid. It’s me, the God of Farming. Speaking directly into your mind.]"

"This is something new, God of Farming. Did you get some sort of upgrade in your communication considering now that you are speaking directly in my mind?" Elaina asked.

"[It’s not like an upgrade. More like a tool I didn’t utilize much considering it is a pain to setup with. But considering this is much more useful compared to the text based communication we usuall do, this is a lot more better and this is much easier for you to speak with me without needing to read my response anytime as I can speak directly into your mind like this. Of course, the way you can respond to me is the same thing. You can speak loudly as I can hear you loud and clear, or just speak with your mind like usual. Nothing much change except the way my message gets delivered to you.]" the God of Farming explained.

"Does that mean the other gods will also communicate with me like this in the future?"

"[Optional. Some gods prefer to speak using the text based communication. I am also one of those gods who prefers that, but considering that its a bit annoying on your end, it is ended preferrable if I use this method instead.]"

Elaina smiled. "Thanks for that, God of Farming. Still, if you wanted to, you can switch back to the text based if you wanted to. There’s no need to force yourself in forcing the voice communication at all."

"[Well, it would be awkward for me if I did it during the first time we have met, Elaina. But considering that it has been sometime since our work as both collaborators are doing, it’s a good upgrade to how we communicate, you know? Treat it as a way that shows how tight our relationship as a god and my follower.]"

Elaina chuckled. The God of Farming has indeed come a long way. For someone who is working mostly on plants, his works are something that doesn’t do much with plants.

"Haha, fine then. Here’s to our continuous collaboration together, God of Farming. Our work has yet to end. After all, there’s still a lot of things we needed to grow."
