Din woke up with a mild headache as he heard chatter all around him. He stood up immediately, but a sharp pain hit his gut, causing him to bend down.

"Easy," a stern male voice was heard as a soft palm pushed Din back onto the mat he was lying on.

"You are lucky to have survived, same as the rest. Anyways, the first day was a success. Who knew a miracle could happen?" the man spoke with a smile as he handed Din a bowl of hot, steamy porridge.

"Thank you," Din said as the man nodded.

Although noises filled the air and everything was rowdy, Din didn’t have time to admire or look around. He felt weak and hungry, so he rapidly ate as much as he could.

Only when Din finished the porridge did his body relax.

His entire body was almost completely bandaged. At least his entire upper body, except for his neck, was wrapped in bandages.

Around him, he could see young men, old men, and middle-aged men all gathered around different bonfires.

In some groups, discussions rang out. In others, they sang, and in a few, they were all quiet.

At this point, they had come to accept that their deaths were almost certain, so now they wanted to live well.

Today, most of them had been filled with fear, with all of them believing death was the next thing awaiting them. But who knew a savior would appear, a being clad in white light?

A god came forward, and he alone stopped the millions upon millions of demons.

That vision was so powerful that it had been etched into their memories, but the one responsible for it barely even remembered.

After having his fill, Din slowly lay back down. He could feel pain all over his body, but he didn’t complain. The only thing he was grateful for was that he was still alive.

Turning to the side, Din frowned as flashes of memory surfaced, memories of when he was struck by the giant palm of the demon.

Yes, he was alive now, but...

If he could remember...

Din turned once more to the other side, his mind restless.

No one should have survived that. The force of that attack was greater than a speeding train. He should have turned into a paste of flesh the instant he was hit.

So how?

What happened?

Why was he still alive?

Filled with doubts, Din turned once more as cold sweat began dripping from his forehead.

"Din..." a deep growling voice was heard as Din’s body momentarily froze.

Who... what said that?

Din was stunned and confused.

"You survived the awakening..." the voice continued.

Din gritted his teeth as he spoke.

"Who is that? What are you? What awakening?" Din’s eyes snapped open.

"Me?... Hahaha, a lost enemy of the God Race. A history so ancient that it originates from the beginning of this world..." the voice spoke as Din was shaken.

Without a doubt, he had transmigrated into this world two years ago, but even so, he had tried to learn everything he could.

But the God Race?

That was something nobody spoke about.

So why now?

"All that doesn’t matter now. What matters is you surviving this war," the voice continued.

"You... are you in my head?"

"Correct, Din. I am," the voice replied as Din sat up.

"Young man, I told you to re—" the man beside Din spoke.

"Not now," Din stood up.

"You are not making sense. Gods are nonexistent, fairy tales told by the creatures of this world," Din spoke.

"Yet you can’t explain what happened to you," the voice argued.

"It could be anything. Maybe I awakened as a warrior or something," Din said.

"And you believe that? Do tell me, Din. Or should I call you..."

"Major Din."

Boom!

Like a magnitude 9.4 earthquake, Din was shaken. His face visibly changed in horror as his body grew tense. His heart skipped a beat.

No one knew he was a transmigrator...

Even him taking over this body had gone smoothly. After all, his original body and this one were practically the same.

But with this, Din realized this was not a joke, nor was he hallucinating.

It seemed he had come into contact with something terrifying.

"Your death was more of a blessing, as you awakened as a vessel for the gods," the voice explained as Din clenched his fists.

At this time, his white bandages visibly turned red as his wounds tore open.

"That is your life now. You were born to serve them, and so you shall. The only mystery is why... why did they seal me within you?" the voice trailed off as Din’s whole body trembled.

Deep within Din’s consciousness, Void chuckled slightly, enjoying the show.

Of course, Din’s reaction could be understood. After all, imagine you were a major in an army and fought tooth and nail for your country, only to be betrayed in the end.

But that wasn’t all.

You died and got transmigrated into a new world filled with martial warriors and mythical creatures.

At first came doubt and disbelief, but just as you grew accustomed to it and started enjoying your new life, the demons invaded.

Now a weak human, armed with only your battle experience, your city discarded you all and used you as meat shields to slow down the demon army.

Mind you, this is hundreds of millions of lives we are talking about.

Then you died.

All of a sudden, you are now a vessel of a god...

One thing...

Confusion.

Then doubt.

Then...

"Fuck this," Din muttered as Void grinned.

"Rage."

"What vessel of god bullshit?" Din spoke as he walked away angrily, his eyes filled with fury.

A vessel of a god?

What the actual fuck?

First a magical world, then martial warriors, then demons, and now we have gods...

For crying out loud, this isn’t a fucking movie.

"Din..." Void called out.

"What?!" Din shouted in reply.

"Prepare for tomorrow," Void spoke.

"What the—?" Din asked, his expression hideous.

"What do you mean, prepare for tomorrow?" Din asked.

"You are now a martial warrior," Void replied.

"What?"

Just then, Din felt his heart pound, and time seemed to slow down.

It felt as though his soul was being pushed out of his body.

Veins appeared like coiling worms burrowing out of the soil, spreading across his skin. He gained a few pounds as his muscles became more defined and lean.

Finally, the bandages fell onto the ground one after another as endless strength filled Din’s body.

"A martial warrior?" Din spoke, his eyes almost popping out.

Feeling the energy raging through him like a river reset his entire worldview.

Then there was the voice in his head...

He couldn’t help but wonder.

"Tell me. If we have demons, we have mythical creatures, I became a vessel for the gods, and now I’ve become a martial warrior..."

"Then what are you?" Din asked.

"Ha, I already told you..."

"An enemy of the gods," Void replied.

**************

At the demon camp...

Nuk frown lightly as he recalled the image of that being of light stopping the entire demon army lingered in his mind.

What strength must one possess to stand before millions of Rank 0 demons and make them turn back?

Nuk was beginning to realize this war was anything but simple.

But regardless, the demon race would still push forward.

Today had been the first day of the war, and the humans had won, at least for now.

For Nuk, it was more of a confirmation.

This world held many secrets.

First was the being sealed underground beneath the first city he attacked, and now there was a being shrouded in glowing light.

The night passed rather quickly, and soon day arrived.

The demon army awaited its orders as they gathered together.

Yesterday’s events were still fresh in their minds.

Some of them had never even gotten the chance to fight. Their scales itched with anticipation.

This time, even if that creature appeared again, they would not retreat.

They would fight.

And so, with sunlight cascading across the battlefield, the demons marched forward.

Their vast numbers caused the ground to sink beneath their feet.

At the rear, Nuk stretched his body with a grin.

He had never fought humans before.

Although this wasn’t a full human army, a mosquito’s leg was still meat.

With a bright smile, he walked forward.

The demon army climbed the hill.

Then they arrived at the place they had been unable to pass yesterday.

The place where the glowing being had stood.

Millions of demon corpses had formed a massive wall of blood just yesterday like a barrier keeping the demon army at bay.

A short distance away, one could still see the mummified remains of the demon army.

And scattered among them were three times as many human corpses, their mutilated body parts hanging everywhere.

A grin formed on Nuk’s face as he spoke.

"This should be fun."
