Ace Dragon Rider
Chapter 43 - 38 Old Rascal
The capital of the White Dragon Empire, White Dragon Castle.
It’s a joyous occasion at the Iron Blood General’s Mansion, for the General’s youngest granddaughter, Ai Lin, has returned from the Dragon Knight Academy. Not only has she regained her strength, but rumors have it that she has become even stronger.
The water droplets had evaporated due to her Fighting Aura, and Ai Lin was standing in front of a large mirror in the bathroom, quietly admiring her own body. The dragon scales had receded, revealing a flawless figure. Her body, from forehead to toe, was covered in silver runes that glowed softly. It was these runes that merged her with the silvery light. At this moment, Ai Lin was infused with the power of both, this silvery light and Ai Lin’s own strength. Now, Ai Lin could be considered a Half-Dragon Woman.
Whether in terms of strength or potential, Ai Lin was now superior to her past self. If it could be said that she was a prodigy before, then she was now a prodigy among prodigies!
Magic flowed unimpeded through her body, and with the slightest gesture, she could easily cast spells.
Yet, even as a prodigy, she could only sigh softly at the moment.
The banquet had ended. Ai Lin hadn’t changed into the expensive evening gown that had been carefully prepared for her. Instead, she remained, as she had been in front of Long Yi, in her silver tight-fitting suit. She had deliberately chosen Knight Boots with the highest heels, as though the height of the heels could boost her confidence.
When Ai Lin’s grandfather saw her outfit, he showed no displeasure. On the contrary, he took it upon himself to explain to everyone that this was a symbol of the Dragon Bloodline.
Showing off.
Again, showing off.
Ai Lin hated above all her grandfather’s showiness, treating her not like his granddaughter but a beautifully dressed doll. The admiring, curious, sycophantic, and envious glances from those around her made her extremely uncomfortable.
And the third Crown Prince, as Ai Lin had feared, showed up in front of her at the right time.
It must be said, the Crown Prince was undeniably a one-in-a-million talent in terms of both looks and demeanor. Moreover, he was an outstanding student in the fourth grade of Dragon Knight Academy.
However, Ai Lin had heard that this Crown Prince, just like his Emperor father in his youth, was a playboy. It was said that he was currently pursuing a knight named Elsa in the Imperial Knight Order. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Legend has it, Elsa was only sixteen, but her dragon was already a mature White Dragon, the symbol of the Empire! Her power already reached the height of eight Dragon Marks! It should be noted that after mastering twenty layers of Dragon Fighting Aura, one can obtain a Dragon Mark. Each subsequent Dragon Mark becomes increasingly difficult to achieve. And yet, Elsa, at a tender age of sixteen, already had eight Dragon Marks! The extent of her power was terrifying!
Yet, not only did Elsa possess remarkable beauty and formidable power, but she also had a temper to match those attributes.
It was said that when the third Crown Prince declared his love for Elsa during the Emperor’s morning audience with the Imperial Dragon Riders, Elsa simply raised a finger and said coldly, "Beat him first, then we can talk."
The Crown Prince was then blasted out of the Emperor’s council chamber by Elsa’s single finger. Even the Emperor could only give a wry smile. Even though the Knight Order was part of the Imperial family, they can only command them in terms of military power, they couldn’t order them around in other matters.
Upon hearing this story, the first person that surfaced in Ai Lin’s mind was not the beautiful and formidable Elsa, but astonishingly, Long Yi.
In Ai Lin’s memories, it was typical of Long Yi to act like this.
Ai Lin remembered the words Long Yi had told her before she left,
"When you meet your grandfather, just tell him what you want. He is your Grandfather, not your enemy. He will ultimately not harm you. Remember, self-confident people do not throw tantrums."
Self-confidence, self-confidence.
Ai Lin said to herself in the mirror.
She slowly straightened up and the girl in the mirror did the same.
Confidence!
Fine silver scales appeared on her skin, covering from her neck to her toes, forming a silver tight suit. Then, Ai Lin pushed open the bathroom door.
When the banquet ended, everyone returned to their posts. Ai Lin came in front of her grandfather’s study, raised her hand, then lowered it.
She instinctively feared her Grandfather and was scared.
He is my Grandfather, not my enemy! I am not afraid of an enemy, much less my grandfather!
Ai Lin cheered herself on inside, raised her hand again, and softly knocked on the door.
"Come in!"
The door opened, and beyond the spacious desk, a majestic old man raised his head, looking at his granddaughter.
The old man appeared to be short, with a thin body, deep eye sockets and profound eyes. His face was full of lines, the deep nasolabial folds giving him a meticulous feeling.
This was the awe-inspiring Iron Blood General, Kai Long.
"You haven’t rested yet?"
General Kai Long asked.
"Not yet."
Ai Lin said softly.
"Anything the matter?"
General Kai Long lowered his head, continuing to read a report in front of him.
"I, don’t like the Third Crown Prince."
Ai Lin said out loud.
"Why?"
Kai Long asked.
Why indeed?
Ai Lin hadn’t really thought about it. Because of the Third Crown Prince’s womanizing? Yet in this world, a man with a single wife would surely be looked down upon. Even her own grandfather had three wives, so promiscuity could hardly be a valid reason, could it?
What else could it be?
Ai Lin didn’t know. Perhaps most importantly, he wasn’t Long Yi, was he?
Kai Long put down his report, looking at his granddaughter. At this moment, Ai Lin was no longer the girl who used to be complacent because of a little talent, nor was she the girl who became depressed when she lost all her talents. Ai Lin had become stronger and more confident than before.
General Kai Long spoke, "You said you wanted to stay at the Dragon Knight Academy, and I agreed. You said you liked the way you are now, although I’m not used to it, I also agreed. And now, you’ve rejected the Third Crown Prince. I’m quite curious about what kind of man could be even superior to the Third Crown Prince. Or I should say, is that boy named Long Yi really as outstanding as you think?"
Upon hearing Long Yi’s name, Ai Lin instinctively wanted to rebut something, but she blushed and firmly said, "He is definitely better."
As for whom the two "he’s" referred to, General Kai Long did not need to ask. Ai Lin’s expression said it all.
"If that’s the case, I’ll meet this boy and see what he’s made of! You go rest."
General Kai Long didn’t say anything more and sent her away.
The courage that Ai Lin mustered up at this moment had already reached its limit. She hurriedly bowed, turned around, and ran out of the study. The moment the door closed, she almost burst into tears.
This was the first time she had spoken to her grandfather like this in her entire life. She was on the verge of tears from fear.
But, she did it!
Moreover, her grandfather didn’t reprimand her!
Kai Long looked at the back of Ai Lin as she hurriedly left, revealing a slight, stiff smile at the corner of his mouth. He looked down at the report in his hand, which was an investigation report on Long Yi.
"It seems that I, an old bastard, finally don’t have to play this game anymore."
