Ace Dragon Rider
Chapter 653 - 521: The Deterrence Power of Missiles_2
Boom!
The missile exploded in the air before it even reached its target. The brilliant white light was even brighter than the sun! The immediate impact wave shattered a floor of the weapons factory.
The Dark Cloud Poisonous Umbrella, originally creeping on the back of the rooftop toad, was mostly shattered, but the toad itself was remarkably resilient and survived. Although the factory lost a floor, half was still preserved! 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
This was the first time the Beetle Missile had failed!
"It seems that Yake has resorted to Hell’s aid once again."
Long Yi laughed.
Long Yi knew that the Black Dragon Empire had always been in contact with Hell. He knew that once he oppressed the Black Dragon Empire too much, Yake would certainly ask for Hell’s help. He didn’t really believe that his intercontinental missile was invincible either. After all, even in his own world, there were plenty of missile defence systems to intercept intercontinental missiles.
Still, he was somewhat surprised that the opponent could produce a solution so quickly.
Soon, a spy lurking in the Black Dragon Empire reported that a creature known as the Dark Cloud Toad had intercepted the missile. This beast, unsurprisingly, was a creature from Hell. The Dark Cloud Toad itself could not hunt, it relied entirely on its Dark Cloud Poisonous Umbrella for nutrients. It was a classic example of a symbiotic organism.
The Dark Cloud Beetles formed a cloud-like barrier and devoured the approaching missile causing it to detonate prematurely. These beetles could chew and swallow anything, whether material or energy, they eat everything. There was virtually nothing to stop them, and even in Hell, they have very few natural predators.
However!
Very few is not the same as none at all.
Long Yi didn’t know much about Hell, but he did have someone who knew Hell in detail.
The Dandi sisters.
In Long Yi’s army camp, the Dandi sisters had been consistently training. Though Long Yi had not sent them out for fear of exposure, the war was gradually intensifying, and they would inevitably go to the battlefield. As ravens from Hell, the Dandi sisters contained enough war wisdom, or cunning, to adapt to this world’s battle rhythm and had begun setting up a unique battle routine tailored for themselves. Though it hadn’t been tested in actual combat yet, according to Long Yi, their battle methods were truly impressive.
The Dandi sisters always communicated with Long Yi through Dandi 233. As clones, they were able to share one consciousness. Thus, what one Dandi knew, all Dandis knew. When Long Yi asked Dandi 233 for information about the Dark Cloud Toad, all of the Dandi sisters began seriously contemplating it.
Finally, one Dandi had an idea.
In Hell, there was a creature that was the Dark Cloud Toad’s natural enemy. This creature, known as the Blood Leech, was present all over Hell. It was about a foot long and formed almost entirely of blood from the Blood Sea. It would parasitize on any creature, absorbing its Dragon Power, Fighting Aura, Mana, or any energy. With the absorbed energy, the Blood Leech would rapidly reproduce within the host’s body, absorbing its energy until the host became too weak and died. After that, the Blood Leech would leave the host’s body in search of a new host.
The Blood Leech’s greatest ability was to disguise itself as part of the host’s body. Dark Cloud Beetles, scary as they were, wouldn’t attack the Dark Cloud Toad’s body. As such, the Blood Leech was the Dark Cloud Toad’s most formidable adversary.
"This sounds promising, but firstly, where can we acquire these Blood Leeches? Secondly, even if we could get our hands on the Blood Leeches, how can we send them to the Black Dragon Empire? Thirdly, even if we manage to kill a few Dark Cloud Toads, wouldn’t the Black Dragon Empire just bring in more?" Long Yi started scratching his head.
Long Yi understood that this was the nature of a protracted warfare. You manufacture a sharper spear, and I produce a stronger shield. Then you craft an even sharper spear, and in response, I’ll make an even stronger shield until one side can no longer continue with this spear-shield game.
But as it stands now, Long Yi was the one holding the spear.
Right, we have the initiative.
It would take time to prepare the Blood Leeches. In the meantime, Long Yi thought of another solution.
Long Yi thought up a rather elegant term for that strategy.
Chasing the moon with a shooting star!
And its implementation was extremely straightforward.
Two missiles!
Use the explosion from the first missile to tear open the defence line and use the second missile to eliminate the target.
This extravagant, double strike method was unheard of even in the old world. Fortunately, the primary cost of these intercontinental missiles was sustenance, not any essential resources, so Long Yi had to be thankful for this miraculous world. However, even so, Long Yi didn’t plan to waste his precious missiles. He decisively screened out the prearranged targets, selecting the more important ones and discarding those less critical.
Then, the new round of attacks came again.
The Dark Cloud Toads provided by Hell were limited, so Yake wasn’t able to deploy too many Dark Cloud Toads to all the critical targets. So, when the first missile shattered the barrier of the Dark Cloud Beetles with an unprecedented explosion, the second following missile had no interception.
For a time, massive mushroom clouds rose one after another on the land of the Black Dragon Empire.
At this moment, Yake had a gloomy expression, never before had he felt so passive when facing the aggressive White Dragon Empire!
What kind of counters could he use?
The only method Yake could think of to counter this was to seek help from the Eternal Emperor, Rongka.
This time, he went all out and personally opened the Gate of Hell to humbly ask Rongka for help, but the result was disappointing. Rongka told him that there was no similar attack method in Hell, but if Yake was willing to wait, Rongka could research such a weapon, but of course, this wasn’t free.
One must be careful dealing with Hell. Although Rongka made it sound easy, such powerful creatures would never leave room for negotiation. Carelessness could spell disaster.
Thus, Yake told Rongka that he would consider it. After he left the room where the Gate of Hell was located, he met Tilian who was hurrying over.
