After Divorce, She Became a Global Sensation and Won't Forgive Her Groveling Husband and Son
Chapter 170: Sophia, We’re Sleeping Together Starting Today
A black shirt clung to a solid, powerful frame. The crown of his jet-black hair was turned toward her, revealing only a sliver of pale skin.
His watch-wearing hand hung loosely at his side, its fingers long and clean. His other hand was unfastening the watch, the motion slow and deliberate. Even such a simple act was filled with raw, sexual tension.
Every move he made exuded an innate, aristocratic air.
Vincent Grant.
Sophia Shaw froze for a moment. It was only then she remembered tonight was the day for Vincent Grant’s fixed monthly report.
But he never stayed with the Grant Family. He always came and went on the same day, returning to Crestfall overnight.
Vincent Grant looked up and met her gaze.
He saw her wet hair draped over her shoulders, her eyelashes damp, looking like a little deer that had just fled from the woods. She stared at him with a dazed expression, exuding an indescribable, innocent sweetness.
And beneath her slightly transparent nightgown was a voluptuous body, presenting a different kind of allure.
For some reason, a phrase came to his mind: a devil’s body with an angel’s face.
The man’s Adam’s apple bobbed.
Sophia Shaw snapped back to reality and quickly grabbed her robe, covering her upper body completely.
A low, deep chuckle escaped the man’s throat, thick with amusement.
He casually placed the watch on the nightstand.
Sophia Shaw stared at his every move. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"It’s dark. Time to sleep," Vincent Grant said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
He had been about to leave, but when he saw Sophia Shaw on his way downstairs, he had followed her.
Sophia Shaw stared in disbelief.
’They were divorced, yet he still wanted to sleep in the same room as her?’
’This is Vincent Grant’s home; I have no right to demand he leave.’
She had no choice but to grab her clothes. "I’ll sleep next door!"
A strong arm shot out and slammed the door she had just opened shut. BANG.
Vincent Grant took a step forward, grabbing her by the waist and pinning her against the door. "You were never this coy in all the years past. Why the sudden urge to sleep next door tonight?"
Sophia Shaw stared at Vincent Grant in disbelief.
’In years past, I wasn’t being coy because we were husband and wife.’
’But now that we’re divorced, sleeping in the same room is completely improper!’
’He must be afraid that Grandma will find out we’re sleeping in separate rooms and give him trouble again.’
Sophia Shaw explained, "Don’t worry. I’ve already made things clear to Grandma."
Vincent Grant inhaled the fragrant scent of her body wash, replying with a rather absentminded, "Mm. You can say whatever you want."
He had no idea Sophia Shaw was talking about their divorce; he just assumed she had come to the Grants to complain about him stealing her business.
"Father already chewed me out. You should be satisfied now."
Even when they were still married, Vincent Grant had never grabbed her waist like this. Sophia Shaw was very uncomfortable with it and pushed at him. "Get off!"
Instead of backing away, Vincent Grant pressed closer, pinning her to the door with his chest.
Their bodies were pressed flush against each other.
The man looked down, his gaze serious as he stared at the blushing woman in his arms. He spoke earnestly, "Sophia, from now on, let’s sleep together."
Sophia Shaw: "..."
Vincent Grant had already decided to return to his family life. He wasn’t planning on waiting until he had completely withdrawn from Zenith before touching Sophia Shaw.
Tonight was a perfect coincidence, and with Cedric Grant not around to interfere, it was the best opportunity.
Seeing Sophia Shaw just staring at him blankly, he assumed she was just being shy. He smiled and lowered his head to kiss her lips...
SLAP!
A slap landed squarely on Vincent Grant’s face.
The force of it turned his head to the side, and every trace of romance vanished from his eyes.
He could only look at her with confusion.
"What? Getting addicted to hitting me?"
"It seems Grandma has spoiled you rotten."
Sophia Shaw couldn’t get a single word out, her chest heaving endlessly.
She was seething with rage.
’Trying to get intimate with me after we’re divorced? What does he take me for?’
It took her a long moment before she could curse, "Vincent Grant, you’re shameless!"
Vincent Grant’s brow twitched. He tightened his grip on Sophia Shaw’s shoulders, preventing her from leaving him.
"Sophia, business is business, and personal is personal. Don’t take your anger from work out on our private life!"
’He thinks I’m angry because he stole the satellite deal?’
’In his mind, am I, Sophia Shaw, really that contemptible?’
’Throwing a tantrum after the divorce, getting angry at him over business at a time and place like this?’
But then Sophia Shaw couldn’t help but find it strange.
’Vincent Grant cares so much about Joanna Sherman. He’s stayed faithful to her for so many years. Why would he do something like this after the divorce?’
"Vincent Grant, have you forgotten?" she asked, suppressing her anger. "About the ten million?"
"Haven’t forgotten," Vincent Grant answered readily. "Did you get the deed? Buy a house or a piece of land? If the money isn’t enough, I’ll have Joel Hale transfer you more."
"Deed?"
’He’s not talking about the divorce certificate!’
A chaotic feeling ripped through Sophia Shaw’s chest. "You really don’t know what today is? Why I came to Grant Manor?"
Vincent Grant tugged at his tie, looking annoyed. "Is it important?"
"Sophia, if you want to vent your anger, if you want to have Grandma and Father beat me and punish me, I’ll accept it."
"But this habit of slapping people? You’d better get rid of it, and soon!"
’So, Vincent Grant doesn’t know they’re divorced!’
"You didn’t read the agreement?"
"I had someone handle it. What? Are you not satisfied?"
’He didn’t read the agreement. The divorce certificate was clearly handled by Joanna Sherman behind his back.’
’As for how she did it... given how much Vincent Grant ignores me, any trick could have easily achieved her goal!’
’When I was pregnant with our child, he knew nothing.’
’When I gave birth, he knew nothing.’
’And now we’re divorced, and he still knows nothing.’
’Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous!’
It felt as if a knife had been viciously stabbed into her heart, the pain so intense it was convulsive.
But Sophia Shaw just started to laugh, a wild and frantic sound.
She laughed until her whole body trembled, laughed until tears streamed down her face.
’What kind of pathetic fool was she, Sophia Shaw, to have abandoned everything for a man like this!’
Sophia Shaw’s sudden fit of hysteria left Vincent Grant confused. He instinctively reached for her hand.
"Sophia..."
SLAP!
She threw another slap across his face with all her might.
Five bright red finger marks quickly appeared on the man’s pale face.
The blow left her own palm numb.
But no matter how much it stung, it couldn’t compare to the pain in her heart.
It couldn’t compare to the pain of being so utterly ignored by a man!
Sophia Shaw bit her lip hard and shot him one last glare.
Shoving him away with all her strength, she bolted from the attic room.
Vincent Grant chased after her.
"Sophia, what the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Explain yourself!"
His legs were longer than Sophia’s, his movements more agile, and he easily pinned her against the wall downstairs.
"You’re not leaving until you explain yourself!"
Sophia Shaw didn’t want to see this man for another second. Pinned and unable to move, she could only scream, "Grandma, help me! Grandma!"
Startled by the noise, Old Mrs. Grant rushed down with Sue.
She arrived just in time to see Vincent Grant pinning Sophia Shaw and shouted, "Vincent Grant, what are you doing?!"
Vincent Grant didn’t look at Old Mrs. Grant. He just said, "Grandma, Sophia and I are just having a little tiff. You don’t need to get involved."
Old Mrs. Grant was already resentful toward Vincent Grant because of the divorce. Hearing him now, her anger surged. She swung her cane at him. "If I don’t get involved, who will? You think I’ll let you get away with this shameless behavior?"
Vincent Grant winced in pain but didn’t let go.
He was used to being hit; Old Mrs. Grant’s meager strength had no effect on him.
While he was distracted, Sophia Shaw bit down hard on his arm.
Vincent Grant: "..."
Sophia Shaw was truly vicious, biting down and refusing to let go.
The girl who usually seemed so gentle was fiercer than a wolf when pushed!
It was as if she were determined to tear a chunk of flesh from his arm!
Startled by her fierce and resolute expression, Vincent Grant released his grip.
Sophia Shaw seized the opportunity and ran out.
Vincent Grant started to give chase.
Old Mrs. Grant blocked his path. "You will kneel!"
