After Divorce, She Became a Global Sensation and Won't Forgive Her Groveling Husband and Son
Chapter 175: Fooled by Sophia Shaw
"Hurry up and take the picture," Yancy Shaw said loudly.
The photographer was speechless.
He opened his mouth, then closed it and pressed the shutter. CLICK, CLICK.
"Should we line up and take another one?" the photographer asked cautiously after he was done.
He showed the photo to Yancy Shaw.
In the picture, the Shaws were clustered tightly on one side, while Vincent and Cedric Grant were squeezed out on the other.
Yancy Shaw nodded in satisfaction. "Excellent."
The photographer was speechless.
"Mom, let’s go inside. It’s hot, and I’m worried Bun will overheat."
June Evans and Leah Evans quickly helped their grandmother into the house, as if something was chasing them.
They left the awkward photographer to face Vincent Grant and his son.
Vincent Grant turned to Sophia Shaw, who was tending to the firewood. "Still mad? Ganging up with your whole family against me and my son?"
Sophia Shaw really didn’t want to talk to him, so she announced she was leaving before the zongzi were even cooked.
Her grandmother was a little disappointed, but when Sophia said she was busy with work, she didn’t press her to stay.
Since Sophia Shaw left, it would have been awkward for Vincent and Cedric Grant to stay.
The three of them walked out with Ms. Archer, who was holding Bun.
In the villa across the way, Sharon Sherman was lying lazily on the rooftop, wearing a face mask.
When she opened her eyes and saw Sophia Shaw walking out with Vincent Grant and his son, she shot upright, her eyes wide.
She immediately called Joanna Sherman. "Joanna! Joanna! Guess what I just saw?"
"Spit it out!" Joanna Sherman’s voice was tinged with impatience.
Deep down, she didn’t have much respect for this cousin, who was good for nothing but spending money on clothes and makeup.
Sharon Sherman was unsettled by her coldness but said anyway, "I saw Vincent and Cedric Grant go back to the Shaw house with that woman, Sophia."
"I wonder what tricks that Shaw woman used to force the two of them back there."
The impatience on Joanna Sherman’s face abruptly froze, and she stood rooted to the spot.
Only she knew that Vincent Grant and his son couldn’t possibly have been forced by Sophia Shaw.
There was only one reason they would go: they wanted to.
Her grip on her pen tightened, viciously piercing the paper in front of her.
Her features twisted in anger.
’My heart feels like it’s going to burst from rage!’
’Vincent actually rushed over to get chummy with Sophia Shaw and the Shaws!’
Joanna Sherman certainly didn’t want Sharon Sherman to know that Vincent intended to abandon her and return to his family. So, in her usual cold, indifferent tone, she said, "It’s nothing to make a fuss about. I told them to go."
Sharon Sherman was immediately overcome with envy.
"Oh my god, Vincent and Cedric Grant really listen to you. They go wherever you tell them to."
"Based on how obedient they are to you, once you marry into the Grant family, you’ll definitely be the one in charge!"
Joanna Sherman felt a pang of bitterness and said nothing.
Sharon Sherman knew she was always aloof, so she didn’t overthink it and continued, "Joanna, where has Brother Jenson been lately? Could you help me set something up?"
"If I can marry Brother Jenson, the two of us will be the most envied pair of sisters in all of Crestfall."
Sharon Sherman had a third-rate university education and knew nothing but partying, yet she was always dreaming of marrying a talented young man like Jenson Forrest.
Joanna Sherman was utterly speechless.
"Sharon Sherman, if you have the time, you should sign up for a useful class and learn something. When you do, I’ll have Justin Hughes introduce you to a boyfriend."
"As for Jenson Forrest, he’s out of your league."
Jenson Forrest was an important figure she needed to win over; she wouldn’t be so foolish as to humiliate him by setting him up with someone like Sharon Sherman.
"Joanna, what are you talking about!"
Sharon Sherman, on the other end of the line, felt insulted.
’Everyone knows Justin Hughes is a player. What kind of decent guy would he introduce me to?’
"I’d rather stay single than have him introduce me to a boyfriend!"
Sharon Sherman angrily hung up the phone.
Joanna Sherman shook her head, speechless. She couldn’t be bothered with whether Sharon was angry or not and tossed her phone aside in frustration.
The news from Sharon had completely ruined her mood. She couldn’t focus on her blueprints anymore, so she decided to go downstairs.
Downstairs, Chad Jennings was sitting on the sofa, furiously swiping on his phone. He was panting slightly, completely engrossed.
Joanna Sherman walked closer and saw the red and green charts on his phone. "Dad, are you playing the stock market again?"
Chad Jennings hadn’t earned much money over the years, but he had certainly lost a lot.
And more than half of his losses were from stocks.
Chad Jennings grinned sheepishly at his daughter. "Joanna, don’t worry. I guarantee these stocks I bought this time will be big winners!"
"When have you ever not said they’d be big winners? But when have you ever not lost your shirt?" Joanna Sherman had zero faith in Chad Jennings’s abilities.
"This time is different," Chad Jennings said, his face flushed with excitement. "I got an inside tip. Even Mrs. Sawyer is buying these stocks."
"You might not trust your dad’s judgment, but you have to trust Mrs. Sawyer’s, right?"
Mrs. Sawyer was a well-known powerhouse in the city.
She had all sorts of top-tier teams under her. Not only was she a first-class businesswoman, but her financial investments were also second to none.
She had managed the Sawyer family’s trust fund so well that its profits had multiplied several times over.
’But why would someone like that let her information leak to others?’
"Dad, you’ve been scammed."
"Mrs. Sawyer’s team has top-notch security. It’s not like just anyone can get their hands on her investment plans."
"Find the person who sold you this information as soon as possible and get your money back!"
"Oh, I didn’t buy it from anyone." Chad Jennings was eager to show off his cleverness to his daughter. "It was Sophia Shaw. When I went to give her the money, she told her uncle to invest it in these few stocks. I was extra careful and hid behind some bushes to eavesdrop!"
"Joanna, our family just took on two hundred million in debt. We’re counting on these stocks to make the money back."
"It’s a good thing I was sharp enough to find such a great way to get rich."
"Dad took out all his life savings. I guarantee we’ll make a huge profit this time!"
Chad Jennings painted a grandiose picture, praising himself for his extraordinary cleverness.
The words had barely left his mouth when Joanna Sherman poured cold water on his excitement. "Dad, don’t you realize you’ve fallen for Sophia Shaw’s trap?"
"How could that be?" Chad Jennings didn’t believe it.
Joanna Sherman analyzed the situation for him with a cold expression. "Have you thought about it? If it was such a great way to make money, wouldn’t Sophia Shaw keep it under wraps? She would definitely pick a secure place to secretly call the Shaws. No matter how rushed she was, there’s no way she’d call Yancy Shaw right in front of you!"
"You thought you were well hidden, but who knows how she’s laughing at you behind your back! Don’t forget, she’s always hated you. She dreams of destroying you!"
Joanna Sherman’s reminder was like a sudden awakening for Chad Jennings.
He slapped his knee. "Why didn’t I think of that!"
"That Sophia Shaw... I haven’t seen her in a few years. How did she become so devious!"
’She almost made me lose my entire life savings!’
’That was terrifying, absolutely terrifying.’
Cold sweat rolled down Chad Jennings’s back in belated fear. He gritted his teeth, hating Sophia Shaw.
"That little bitch, scheming against her own father. She should remember that without me, she wouldn’t even be here!"
"Unfilial daughter! Unfilial daughter!"
Joanna Sherman couldn’t be bothered to talk with him further. "If you’re going to buy stocks, buy from the Grant Group."
"Of course!" ’How did I not think of that!’
The Grant Group’s stock price was already high, but Zenith’s group-buying business was currently in full swing.
’When the satellite launch succeeds in the future, it’s going to surge like crazy!’
’All in!’
’Go all in on everything!’
As Sophia Shaw was walking into a bar, she got a call from Mrs. Sawyer.
"Faye, about those stocks you asked me about last time—my people have been keeping an eye out for a few days, and they haven’t seen Chad Jennings make a move."
