Age of Wizards: I Can Analyze All Things
Chapter 82 - 74: This Makes Us Look Useless
It let out a sharp cry and dove straight down from the sky, only slowing abruptly when it reached Pei Ze to land lightly on his shoulder.
Seeing this, Su Ya had a realization. It turned out the thousands of strange crows from before were just a single one of Pei Ze’s magical pets.
’A Wizard’s magical pet really is something else!’ the young woman marveled to herself.
Peng Yan stared at Wuyu in astonishment, completely unable to comprehend how such a tiny creature could have manifested thousands of crows.
As for the mangled, bloody corpse of the scar-faced Demon Cultivator on the ground, the two of them had already forgotten all about him.
"Sir," Su Ya said as she approached Pei Ze, her tone a mix of playful complaint and flattery. "You could have at least left a few enemies for us. Now that you’ve handled them all yourself, don’t we just look useless?"
Peng Yan also scratched his head in embarrassment.
They hadn’t done a single thing during the entire fight.
Their bold declaration before the battle—that they would definitely protect Pei Ze—was now just a source of awkwardness and embarrassment.
"Not at all," Pei Ze said with a slight smile, gesturing to the bodies littering the ground. "This is where your work begins."
"..."
Su Ya and Peng Yan exchanged a look, both at a loss for words.
Before they came, they never imagined their job would just be cleaning up the battlefield.
"Eee!"
Just then, a tiny figure shot out from the hood of Pei Ze’s robe.
Su Ya jumped in fright, reflexively raising her sword. She only relaxed her tense body after getting a clear look and seeing it was the Ten Thousand Flowers Fairy that was always with Pei Ze.
"Eeee eeee!"
Xiaoyi flew over to the scar-faced Demon Cultivator’s corpse, gesticulating wildly. She put her hands on her tiny hips and chirped loudly, striking a victor’s condescending pose as if mocking the enemy for being so weak.
Immediately after, she turned and flew in front of Su Ya and Peng Yan, circling them once while making faces and sticking out her tongue.
"Eee... use... less..."
Su Ya: "???"
’You’re one to talk, hiding the entire time!’
Peng Yan couldn’t make out what Xiaoyi was saying and turned to ask Su Ya, "What did she just say?"
Su Ya replied irritably, "She was complimenting you. Said you were amazing."
Hearing this, Peng Yan scratched his head, a little embarrassed. "That’s an exaggeration. Sir is much more amazing than I am."
Su Ya rolled her eyes and turned away to clean up the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Pei Ze activated the Recording Ring on his hand and began to absorb the Soul Energy, converting it into merit points.
A moment later, the number of merit points in the Recording Ring had changed to 426.
’Over 400 merit points. That’s enough to exchange for a barbarian retainer at the Legendary Knight level.’
Pei Ze nodded in satisfaction. This haul was a huge windfall.
Other Wizard Apprentices probably couldn’t even earn a quarter of this in a whole night.
’Unfortunately, I’m still a long way from the 2,000 merit points needed to exchange for a spot in the Realm of Truth. It would be great if another wave of enemies showed up.’
But he knew that was just wishful thinking.
Demon Cultivators weren’t exactly a dime a dozen.
A few stragglers might still flee this way, but it was unlikely that another big flock of fat sheep like the last one would appear.
Before long, Su Ya and Peng Yan had finished taking stock of all the spoils.
It had to be said, the heretics were a poor bunch. The twenty-plus people had less than a thousand Gold Coins on them in total.
Other than that, there were just a few dozen unranked potions.
All things considered, the most valuable items were the two dimensional bags.
Pei Ze glanced at the dimensional bags in his hand and suddenly asked Su Ya and Peng Yan, "Do you two have dimensional bags?"
Su Ya and Peng Yan subconsciously shook their heads.
Their families had already spent most of their savings just to help them advance to Senior Grand Knight. How could they have any money left to buy expensive Magic Items like dimensional bags?
Hearing this, Pei Ze didn’t hesitate, tossing the dimensional bags directly to them.
"Here, take them. One for each of you."
Su Ya and Peng Yan caught the bags reflexively, a little stunned.
After the reality of the situation sank in, a rarely flustered Su Ya stammered, "S-Sir, these are too valuable. We..."
Before she could finish, Pei Ze cut her off with a wave of his hand.
"Just take what I give you. Be decisive, like Peng Yan."
A stunned Su Ya turned her head, only to see that Peng Yan had already happily put his dimensional bag away.
Seeing Su Ya look over, he gave a simple, honest smile and said, "I listen to Sir. Whatever Sir says, goes."
Su Ya was speechless.
If she didn’t know this was just Peng Yan’s personality, she would have suspected he was only pretending to be so honest.
But since things had come to this, Su Ya couldn’t very well refuse. Besides, she really did want a dimensional bag, so after a few seconds of hesitation, she put it away as well.
When she looked up at Pei Ze again, the young woman’s beautiful eyes were shimmering, as if about to overflow.
Pei Ze paid no mind to her gaze. He instructed Peng Yan to pile the bodies in a nearby alley, lest the corpses littering the ground scare away their next flock of fat sheep.
With everything taken care of, the three of them resumed their watch at the entrance to the street block, waiting for more enemies to come to them.
After witnessing Pei Ze’s overwhelming power, Su Ya and Peng Yan’s earlier anxiety had vanished completely, replaced by eager anticipation.
As long as it wasn’t the Drunkard, no amount of Demon Cultivators or Demonized would be a match for Sir Pei Ze.
What did they have to worry about?
In fact, they were now hoping for more heretics to show up so they could earn more contribution points.
Before long, the sounds of another battle echoed from the distance. As before, it fell silent after just a short while, and then they could faintly make out several figures sprinting wildly in their direction.
Recalling the previous incident, Su Ya finally sensed that something was wrong.
Judging by the situation, the City Guard Army on the first line of defense was clearly letting people through.
