Chapter 99: Chapter 98: The Tracker’s Choice

The blue tracking dot on Marcus’s screen bounced rapidly as Arthur’s car sped down the main highway line. Miles away from the office, Harrison’s car was pushing through the turns, the sound of the engine roaring through the open radio link.

"He is moving too fast, Marcus," Harrison’s voice came through the speaker, low and tight with control. "Give me a better line. We are two minutes behind him."

"Stay on the current route, Boss," Marcus said, his fingers flying over his keys as he tried to stabilize the data feed. "He is heading straight toward the central city crossing. If he gets through that intersection, he can choose five different paths out of the territory."

Suddenly, the blue dot moved into the dense commercial sector of the city. The tall structures and massive electronic billboards created a wall of network interference. The bright line on the screen began to flicker violently, turning from blue to a faint grey before vanishing completely.

"I lost him!" Marcus shouted, his voice rising into a pure panic as he slammed his hands flat on the desk surface. "The signal is dropping out because of the high buildings. The tracker cannot send the coordinates back to my terminal!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Marcus, breathe," Daniel’s voice cracked through the side radio link. Daniel was currently driving his own vehicle with his unit, trying to reach the lower intersection. "Do not let the pressure mess with your head. You built that tracking code from scratch. Think about the backup server lines."

Marcus took a quick, sharp breath, his shoulders dropping slightly as Daniel’s steady tone reached his ears. The familiar comfort of Daniel’s trust helped him clear his mind instantly. He stopped staring at the empty map and opened his other coding panel. "You are right. I set a bounce protocol on the main server line. Give me ten seconds."

Julius stepped closer to the screen, his face completely serious as he watched Marcus work. He did not interrupt the smaller man, knowing that a single mistake would allow Arthur to slip away into the dark.

"I have it back!" Marcus cried out, hitting his enter key with a loud tap.

The blue dot appeared on the map again, glowing brightly right in the middle of a major traffic zone. Arthur’s vehicle had run straight into a wall of morning commuter cars, slowing his escape down to a complete crawl.

Julius immediately grabbed the main microphone from the desk console, taking over the communication lines to direct Harrison. "Harrison, do you hear me? Arthur is stuck in the middle lane at the central crossing. The traffic is completely blocked for the next three blocks. You have the advantage now."

"I see the backup from here, Julius," Harrison’s deep rumble came through the speaker. "The road is a mess. We are stepping off the main highway line to bypass the other cars."

"Take the back alley road on your right," Julius instructed smoothly, his sharp mind remembering the exact structural layout of the city grid. "It circles behind the main transit station. It will bring your team out right in front of Arthur’s current position. You can block him from the front."

"Good boy," Harrison murmured over the link, the trust in his voice making Julius’s chest tighten. "Marcus, keep that dot live. If he tries to ditch the car and move on foot, I need to know the exact second his feet hit the ground."

"I am locked onto his mobile signal now, Boss," Marcus responded, his tone fully professional as he monitored the data lines side by side with Daniel’s incoming location. "He is still inside the vehicle. He doesn’t know you are coming from the side."

Through the live audio, Julius could hear the sharp screech of tires as Harrison’s elite unit turned hard onto the narrow alley road. The cars flew past the back of the transit buildings, avoiding the traffic entirely.

"Daniel, what is your position?" Harrison barked into his mic.

"We are turning onto the lower exit lane now, Boss," Daniel replied, his voice calm despite the speed of his vehicle. "If he breaks through your line and tries to reverse, my unit will be waiting to pin his back tires. He has nowhere to go."

Marcus looked up at Julius for a brief second, a small, genuine smile passing between them. The teamwork was working perfectly. The friction that had slowed them down for days was completely gone, replaced by a smooth, dangerous machine focused on a single target.

"We are coming out of the alley road now," Harrison announced, his voice dropping into a cold, terrifying tone. "I see his vehicle. It is the silver car in the center lane."

Back in the quiet office, Julius held his breath, his eyes glued to the screen as the red dots representing Harrison’s cars closed the gap with the blue target dot.

"He sees us," Harrison said quickly. "He is trying to ram through the cars on his left. He is getting desperate."

"Do not let him move, Harrison!" Julius shouted into the microphone, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the edge of the desk line.

"He isn’t going anywhere, baby," Harrison growled. "Daniel, close the back line now. Team one, hit him from the side. Take the car down."

A loud, violent crash echoed through the audio speakers as Harrison’s lead security vehicle slammed directly into the front fender of Arthur’s silver car, forcing it against the divider wall. The sound of twisted metal and breaking glass filled the office room, followed immediately by the shouting of elite guards.

"Target vehicle is completely immobilized," Daniel’s voice came through next, accompanied by the sound of his own car sliding into place to block the rear path. "The perimeter is secure. We have him pinned."

Julius let out a long, deep breath, his body finally relaxing against the back of his chair. He looked at the screen where all the dots had finally come to a complete stop in the center of the city map. The chase was over.

"Harrison?" Julius called out into the microphone, his voice shaking just a tiny bit with emotion. "Is it done?"

There was a short pause on the other end of the line, filled only with the background noise of guards shouting orders and securing the scene. Then, Harrison’s deep voice came through, steady, cold, and entirely victorious.

"We have him, Julius," Harrison said. "Arthur is out of the car. The game is finished. I am bringing him to you."
