Chapter 194: His Hair, Her Protector

(Amaia)

Alnilam’s hair; just as unpredictable as they are, somehow senses my wings. Not only do they remove my necklace, slither from my neck to my wings but they also try to take off my shirt.

Embarrassment coats every follicle of my hair, every cell of my body as they reveal my breasts to Alnilam. Not only that, his disbelief and yearnings run down the bond, making me even more nervous.

He pulls his hair, agitatedly yelling at them in his controlled voice.

"No, stop."

But, they refuse to listen. Wrapping themselves tightly around my waist, they turn me around and pull my shirt all the way up to my neck, exposing my back to my mate.

I feel like a ragdoll in their hold; they soothe me, warm me, and tickle me. It’s like being wrapped in warm silver chains that bring me comfort. I have zero strength to push them away.

Deep down, I don’t want to push them away. They belong to my mate, the one who doesn’t even touch or acknowledge me.

My wings are as uncontrollable as his hair. It’s like the collision of anarchy and mayhem. They seek each other out, colliding, coiling, touching.

I stop struggling, it’s useless and I just give myself in to their shenanigans.

And then I sense Alnilam’s touch on my wings and it shoots through me like an electric fire, burning me in the most intimate places and my thigh.

His hair coils around my wrists, raising them, and I move on autopilot, almost in a dazed state. They fling off my shirt from my body and toss it aside, out of my reach, leaving me only in my trousers.

"You got your wings," he whispers ...so close his breath warms the skin on my neck. With a gentle, almost ghostly touch, he picks up my hair and spreads it over my right shoulder. My hair comes flowing down covering my breasts.

"Yes, it happened today," I awkwardly answer. My body burns with the need for his touch. His hands remain on my flimsy wings, caressing them.

"....um. You mated with my brothers?" He asks. I sense a hint of jealousy and possessiveness warming the bond between us.

A shudder passes through my body at how close and sultry his voice appears.

"How do you know?" I meekly question.

"Female Faes get their wings when they willingly mate with their soul mates. Tarian wasn’t your soulmate, just a mate. My brothers are..."

Alnilam knows why I got wings. He is knowledgeable on these matters.

He continues. "But they are small, not fully developed. It can only mean you have more mates or you haven’t mated with them all."

My breath catches in my throat and I don’t even know how to respond. The heat emanates from his body and seeps into my back. His fingers remain on my rapidly beating wings while his hair holds me, as if afraid I will disappear.

I want to say something but I don’t know what. When it comes to this man, I become tongue-tied.

"You keep fascinating me,,,, every day." Why has his voice softened so much? The desires rumble inside of me and I turn my head to watch him over my shoulder.

Our eyes connect, green into violet. A softness he holds for me today, like one I have never witnessed before.

"How?" I question.

His hair understands me. His magic gets my intentions and it turns me so I can face him. Not only that, they intertwine with my hair, lifting it off my breasts, exposing them to him again.

The bulge in his throat moves guiltily as he struggles to keep his eyes on his face. The lust runs through the bond and his struggles coat his magnificent eyes.

Like the wings of a hummingbird, my heart flutters in my chest. Without shame, I lift my hand and place it on his handsome face.

The violet from his eyes disappears, turning into pitch black. His wolf is watching me, and unlike Alnilam, his eyes dip towards my chest.

A small gasp leaves his mouth as he struggles to gain control back from his wolf and not ogle at my exposed breasts.

"I am sorry..." his desperation rings out loud and clear. He wishes to untangle himself from me but his hair won’t let me go.

"It’s wrong. You are my student. Mated to my brothers and I have a fiancée. I don’t want to do anything that will jeopardise so many lives." He regretfully shakes his head. "I can’t. I don’t understand..."

For me it’s not cheating, because he is my mate. For him, this is wrong on so many levels. His struggles, his commitments, his principles everything is at stake.

My heart aches, my magic pulses, desperate to connect with him.

To feel his hands on my skin.

To feel those sumptuous lips on mine.

I am so aroused because of how his hair clings to me.

"I do. Maybe you will too, someday."

With that, I lovingly pat his hair. I know they won’t listen to him but they will listen to me.

"Release me."

I sense their disappointment, but they slowly begin to recoil from my face, breasts and lips. Caressing and feeling. Doing what, Alnilam wouldn’t.

Using my arms I cover my breasts.

Alnilam lets out a sigh of relief when they release me and coil back to him.

Turning around he quickly grabs my shirt from the floor and brings it towards me.

"I am sorry. Today’s event turned them even crazier." He hesitates as I slowly lift my arms so he can put my shirt back on my body.

Gladly, he does.

"What event?" I ask with curiosity, hoping he would tell me something about the Blood Oath.

He brings the shirt down on my body, hiding my nakedness from himself.

"I used them for the Oath. They are to be your protector. I think that’s why they went above and beyond."

He did what?

Did he just say he used his hair for the Oath?
