Alphas of Orion and their Unbroken Mate
Chapter 219: Extracting The Truth From Huradis
(Alnilam)
Huradis is a human, he has no powers. So my guess is, he is using potions and concoctions to drug women and add them to his harem.
Why he had such free rein has always been beyond me. I have discussed his case with my parents multiple times and expressed my disapproval of his behaviour. But they always tell me, he is important and they need him as an ally.
A surprise passes over his face, and his right eyebrow gets raised. Leaning back, he picks up the gold chalice, studded with rubies from the table and brings it to his lips, taking a sip.
"Can’t we just kill him and blame the wine he is drinking? We can simply say, he choked." Snow and his murderous ideas.
"Accusations don’t suit you. I am in a binding agreement with your father. You can’t barge in here and do whatever you like. This is my palace."
My werewolf aura doesn’t affect humans but my magical aura is different. It affects them, makes them submit willingly or unwillingly. That’s what I had used last time when I needed to take Amaia away.
"Watch me if you don’t give me the answers I seek." My hair is restless, my magic wants to shoot out and hit him with such force that he will forget to breathe.
"I am not sure what you are referring to, Alnilam. She came here looking for a passage to Orion. She was willing to slee..." He didn’t get to finish his words when my magic swirls out, unannounced, like the problematic, stubborn child who does what it wants.
It shoots towards Huradis and hurls him off his throne and onto the ground right at my feet.
My hair wraps around his neck and hits his face on the ground. The blood shoots out of his mouth and nose.
His guards move but my sentinels are ready to block them.
Slowly, I bend down, grab his greasy hair and raise his head so his eyes can find me. A terror has resided there instead of the defiance I had seen a few seconds back.
"If you think you have immunity, you need to think again. I can make you disappear in the blink of an eye." My grip tightens around the base of his hair.
"You are replaceable. Give me the answers I seek or there will be hell to pay. Not even my father will be able to save your pathetic self."
My magic chokes him, making it impossible for him to breathe. I won’t rest until he confesses.
"Ddd...rug, I drugged her drink, and the fragrance I use has hallucinogens to keep the females docile," he fearfully confesses, his eyes widened from terror. My aura is choking him.
Basically, the man in charge of the human population of Tarathia is a bloody rapist and we have been turning a blind eye.
Bending my leg I let my knee collide with his hideous face, knocking two of his teeth out.
"Grrrr," he screams in pain and I want to squash him under my boot like a despicable bug. People like him deserve no mercy.
"Clean up your house. Let the women go and spend money on hungry and dying people of your land." I step over his hand and his screams grow louder. "I am opening up a full investigation into your crimes. As an Enforcer, it comes under my jurisdiction to investigate illegal use of potions and hallucinogenic agents."
Basically, our job is to monitor and catch unregistered magic users. This is an extension of magic, especially for humans, this is nothing short of it.
I have had my doubts regarding Huradis but my father has always told me to keep clear of the man and leave all dealings to him.
Not anymore, not when he has been hurting women and especially what he did to my mate. I should have listened to Amaia, trusted her when she told me he did something to her. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
My self-righteousness and pride prevented me from seeing the truth.
"Collect all the jars and take them along," I order my sentinels.
I will have them tested and use the results to prepare my case against him. He needed to be replaced, no matter what my father said. I won’t let Huradis be in a position where he could take advantage of innocent people like that.
His guards rush to him and Huradis stands up with their help. Spitting out blood he menacingly said, "You will regret this, Alnilam. My reach is far beyond what you can even imagine in your dreams."
He is threatening me, not realising I don’t do well with threats. It makes me want to bury the person even more.
"We will see about that. Bring your A game and I will be waiting." With that, I turn around and leave.
I won’t be submitting his case to the Dread Army, knowing they might be involved in giving him power. It’s only a matter of time before they are going to come looking for their missing Reavers.
Now, I am going to have a conversation with my father.
I leave the hellhole that is Huradis’ palace and my next destination is our own.
"Take these samples to Jamina with this note." Using a paper and pen, I scribble a note for her to get them all tested and prepare the results.
The sentinel who had collected the samples, bows and takes the note from me. He hurries away, while the other remains by my side.
Emotionally, I am a mess, barely hanging on, but physically, my body is in a state I have never experienced before.
Invincible, as if I can take the world alone.
I know it’s because of the developing bond between Amaia and me. No matter how much I try to deny it. It has made me stronger.
It takes us a whole day to arrive at the palace. I prepare myself, mentally and emotionally, because speaking to my father is draining, and what I have to say, I don’t think even my mother will be very pleased with.
Sentinels bow to me, doors open and I arrive outside my father’s study.
With a deep breath, I motion to the sentinels to open the doors.
