Esmelda has that crazed look in her eyes, a look of jealousy

"The Omnifae that cast the spell which brought about the apocalypse. There is more to the story."

I always knew there could be more. A Fae condemning the whole world never sat right with me.

*His family and my family were close friends. He was my father’s best friend. My family always wanted to rule the supernatural world but he believed in balance between the species and all that nonsense. The dispute between our families grew and my father decided to eliminate him. But he cast a spell, to keep the balance while my father cast a counter spell. Both spells merged and caused the destruction which brought about the apocalypse. Before Omnifae died he made a prophecy. He was also a soothsayer. That a female would be born who will unite the supernatural world and bring peace and will rule it with multiple mates. That very day, I was born amidst the apocalypse and chaos." She bangs her chest with her right hand, studded with so many rings.

"Me, it was supposed to be me. The chosen one, the one who would rule the supernatural world. I was held in high esteem until I began to get visions." She grinds her teeth together and hatefully points towards me.

"About you. It wasn’t me whom he spoke about but the worthless you, the child of prophecy. Not only I but his family knew that I wasn’t the one he spoke about. They began to spread the word among your foul kind. My family and I couldn’t let that happen. So we planned to bring an end to every Fae and finally you. The day your mate rejected you, I got a vision and found you. But that vision toppled my world." Her body appears to be visibly shaking from all the rage and jealousy she holds for me. This explains a lot. Especially what the creature had said when I was chosen to be a part of Guild Leo. I never believed myself to be someone special but my mates’ choosing to be my guardians also makes sense now.

She continues.

"I saw that you were mates with my sons. Not only that, but also to those two losers. So, I placed a curse on you when you went to meet Huradis. I was there, all those illusions were caused by me. I wanted to make you suffer and enjoy it under my watchful eye."

I already know that she was the one to curse me but my guess was right. She was there at that time, hiding in her illusions, trying to destroy the lives of others just because she wasn’t chosen.

"You are not worthy to be a woman. Let alone a mother or a chosen one to unite the supernatural world. I think you are the curse that was born due to those spells combining. The curse which unleashed on our world and destroyed so much of it," I viciously answer her, letting her know I wasn’t afraid.

The angry lines of her forehead triple in number. Her nose wrinkles and upper lip rises.

"That prophecy is never going to be completed until I am alive. I will give you a merciless death. You are not worthy of my twins. Just like that Kayla wasn’t worthy of Mintaka. I got rid of her, by breaching the borders. I tried to do the same with you, calling the Reavers, breaching the borders but you..." She fists her hands in rage as if hardly holding herself back. "You always get away. Not today."

We always wondered about the sudden breaches. It was her all along, making them happen, killing so many innocent people.

My heart drowns in despair. She is the one who got Kayla killed and caused so much distress to her son, only because she didn’t deem her worthy of him. Jamina’s death must have been similar. She must have asked the B-Twins to kill her to cause heartbreak to Alnilam.

"A pure heart can’t be defeated by jealousy," I firmly say to her. "Your heart holds nothing but greed and hatred. It will lead to your downfall."

She snorts. "Just because you were able to break curses, doesn’t mean you are stronger than me. There are many ways to break someone and the easiest is infidelity. I am sure you have already tasted it with Alnilam and Mintaka but now I want you to see it and feel it at the same time with Saiph."

Oh no, what’s she on about? She goes around the table and faces me again.

"You see, I have three more children. My real children, born out of love and pure blood of the witch kind. No contamination of Fae or vampires. My mate Nataniu and I have our happy family and soon I will be united with them. The bright stars, Bellatrix, Betelgeuse and Meissa."

For the first time since she has kidnapped me, her face splits into a real smile which touches her eyes. The moment she had told me that Natianu is her mate, I had been wondering if they were her children. Since there had been no mention of their mother nor did we see the queen who was supposed to be beside the king on the special occasion of Guild Wars, it only makes sense that it was her all along.

"My beloved children. Although Alnitak and Mintaka have my traits and are not tainted by Fae blood, I plan on taking them along once I am done here in Orion. They will have to be put under curses. They don’t yet understand our ideology and agree with it. They are soft just like Meissa."

Meissa....the ever-smiling girl. The girl whose actions didn’t sync with her words and moods. At one moment, she tried to kill my mates and the next she was apologising.

Does this mean the poor girl is also under a curse? It will explain a lot about her if she is.

The way she acted when seeing the twins. The genuine excitement and curiosity she held while meeting her brothers. She knew they were her half-brothers and were like her, different.

My poor heart breaks for the girl, for the kind of life she must be living, surrounded by the worst kind of people, stuck in an endless cycle of being controlled and manipulated.

"And, although Alnilam, Bellatrix and Betelgeuse are triplets. I have no desire to let Alnilam be part of my final plans. Just like you, he has to go."

Triplets??? What is this woman even saying?
