Amber Sword
Chapter 971 - 211: Leaving the Trade Wind Ring
After lighting the Torch and confirming that the Central Crystal of the entire Underground City had completely lost its effect, the group began to scour the Underground City to see if there were any benefits left. The so-called adventure means one can't return empty-handed. Besides, since the fall of Erune in the game, Ben had never explored an Underground City so leisurely.
In the past, when teaming up with others, there was always some wariness about teammates stabbing you in the back. This has happened before; the Vorn World is too large, and one can often disappear without a trace once hidden in any country. Therefore, many people act recklessly, creating a sense of anxiety. But exploring the Underground City with Veronica and the Gray Sword Saint Mephisto felt much more relaxed for Ben. Veronica was trustworthy and had a high standard; things Ben fancied weren't always up to her mark, and things she fancied she might not always recognize. Thus, Ben easily exploited Veronica, the Cruz People's Female War God. The Gray Sword Saint Mephisto was someone without any material desires; in simple terms, he was a cultivation maniac. If it weren't for being burdened by his own country, he probably would have already reached Andesa's level. Now, because he needs Ben's help to restore his country, he is even less likely to do anything against Ben's interests. ππππ¦ππππππ·ππ.πΈπ°π
Thus, Ben was practically exploring with two powerful bodyguards. In the Silver People's underground ruins, there should at least be one or two silver relics. Ben was confident, but to his surprise, after wandering the Underground City for several hours, he found not a single Magic Item.
The entire Valhalla ruins seemed to have been stripped of Magic Power, even items that should inherently possess magic now appeared to have lost their strength. They passed through a corridor where evidence of fierce battles remained, with many abandoned, broken weapons and armor on the ground. These weapons and armor clearly used to be Magic Equipment, the mysterious runes and enchantment lines were visible, yet there was no trace of Magic Power left. This was the case throughout the Underground City. Ben also found some Magic Items used in daily life, like Lighting Crystals and enchanted stoves, but unfortunately, these had also lost their magic and could no longer be used.
It seemed like they were influenced by a powerful Forbidden Curse, but what degree of magic could sweep through an entire city as if it endured a storm? Ben, Veronica, and Mephisto felt doubtful and unsettled. In their knowledge, the largest prehistoric war occurred over a thousand years ago at the end of the Dark Year, the war between the Four Saints and the Dark Dragon.
Yet, the highest level of magic used in that war was only a Level 14 Forbidden Curse, which certainly did not reach this extent. The war that occurred in Valhalla must have at least been beyond that era. This means these Silver People likely date back to the era of Chaos, with their wars occurring even before ancient times, an age where civilization's greatest enemies were powerful monsters within Chaos.
Although unable to procure any Magic Items, Ben did not overlook those broken weapons and armor. He used the Dimension Hole to gather all of them. The Tonyger territory lacked iron mines, but these armors and weapons could still be reused once melted down, especially given the high-quality materials the Silver People used for crafting these pieces; some were even forged from Star-shaped Gold. Seeing those materials made Ben inwardly exclaim about the luxury, as Star-shaped Gold is one of the best materials with magical resistance among metals, and due to it being an auxiliary mineral to refined gold, its production is extremely low.
Watching Ben collect these scraps, Veronica found it amusing, thinking that this young man often acted beyond expectation. If other noble heirs were in front of her, they might hesitate to do such things for the sake of propriety. Of course, the Empire's Female War God did not realize that Ben had absolutely no connection to nobles down to his very core. In contrast, Faina mocked Ben as a money-grubbing miser, to which Ben wholeheartedly agreed.
Tonyger and the new territory were just starting out, and beginnings are always challenging, so it was the time when money was needed most. He didn't mind being stingy. Besides, even the entire Erune compared to the Cruz Empire is merely a border area, much like how Tonyger compares to the entire Erune. His Lengshan Domain couldn't compete with the Empire's vast resources, and Ben understood this well.
