Chapter 306: Home (3)

"I didn’t think that rock could break," Derek muttered. He scratched the back of his head trying to think of what he should do next.

Victor sat in a chair watching Derek with great boredom. "Vincent’s going to kill you for breaking that when he returns. I told you to be careful."

"Technically, he’ll kill the two of us since you weren’t supposed to let anyone into his home. Not even me and I will tell him you dared me to try shifting in less than twenty seconds. If I am going to die, I am taking you with me," said Derek.

"I-" Victor opened his mouth to say something but a tingle all over his skin stopped him. He sniffed the air to be certain and once the familiar scent filled his nose, he hopped up out of his seat and went for the door.

Derek was confused by his sudden behavior. Thinking that Victor was making a grand escape to later say he was not here when the rock was broken, Derek followed behind him. "Hey! Vincent is more likely to kill me than you so why are you running away? He won’t kill the last good relative he has. Hey!" Derek once again called out to Victor who did not stop.

Derek thought of charging after Victor more but decided not to as he was not in the mood to run. It was too late for all of this and all he wanted to do now was go home to his family. "Why the hell do I even come to Vincent’s home to do work when he’s not around? Am I-" He paused and sniffed the air as a familiar scent came to him for a brief moment.

Looking around at everyone out on the street, Derek found that they had stopped what they were doing as if they smelled the same thing. "Vincent?" He muttered. Derek knew Vincent’s scent well not just because he was the alpha but because he memorized it to avoid Vincent. "He’s home," he sighed in relief.

Vincent was said to be the big bad wolf who was hard to kill but Derek could not help worrying for the brute whenever he left the gates alone. It was a relief that Vincent was returning home. Once Derek started to really focus on the scents, he could pinpoint that Aurora was here. She had a mix of Vincent’s scent and the moon Goddess.

"I should probably greet him but then I would have to confess to breaking that stupid rock so I am going home," Derek muttered.

Meanwhile, Victor ran to the gates, and just like he had expected, he saw Vincent and Aurora inside the gates. He scanned their appearance to make sure they were alright as he approached him.

Victor wanted his brother to stay put after this trip. First Vincent left to deal with their uncle meeting with vampires and not too long after he left with Aurora to fight against the family who held her captive. Victor could not take all of the back-to-back fighting and hoped his brother would finally relax so that he could stop worrying.

"Vincent, Aurora!" Victor called the couple. He thought of how Cherry would kill him for not running to get her first. Just like him, she was also worried about the two. Well, she was more worried about Aurora than Vincent.

"Victor! Wow, you look stressed," Aurora commented on his messy appearance. Victor could not hide that he was having a hard time with Vincent gone. Aurora slid off the horse to hug Victor because it looked like he could cry at any moment. He must have been worried sick about the two of them leaving all alone no matter how able they were to defend themselves.

Victor squeezed Aurora tight as they embraced each other. "It is all done now, right? We do not need to worry about anyone coming after you?"

"No. I have no enemies to watch out for. Vincent and I will be staying here for a very long time," Aurora replied.

"You can stop filling in for me and go back to your old life. I am sure you were waiting for us to return for you to be free. I left you for a couple of days but this is how you look," Vincent shook his head at Victor’s appearance. Next time it would be a better idea to place Jane as the person in charge instead of Victor.

"I only look this way because I have been worried about you, you brute! There are many people who would love to kill you when you are away from your pack. I have a heart so why can’t you-" Victor’s words became muffled when Vincent pulled him in for a hug.

"If you missed me just say that. My younger brother must love me so much to be walking around looking so ugly. Fix your appearance, Victor. It is heartwarming that you missed me but mother always said a Lawerence must look presentable at every moment. Do you intend to have the woman rolling around in her grave?" Vincent asked.

"Do not bring up our mother now and stop hugging me so tightly. I regret worrying about you," Victor shoved Vincent away. Leave it to his brother to not know when to be kind and enjoy a reunion. "Aurora, I will ask one last time. Are you certain he is the man you want to spend the rest of your life with? He is my brother but I find he lacks a heart."

"For the last time, yes. Contrary to what you think, your brother has a huge heart and he cares for all of us. It has been nice catching up with you Victor but I am in need of a warm bath and food. Vincent can stay to catch up with you. I’m sure you have much to tell him," Aurora said to tease Vincent that their night to start trying for a child would not start now.

Before Vincent could intervene, Victor replied, "There is something important. Our uncle’s body was returned to us."
