Chapter 479: Chapter 479 Catching Up (2)

Evelyn wore a shockingly creepy grin as she listened to the current turmoil occurring in the Tyrannis Union.

Their assignation of two high profile members of the Deamhain Sect in the Miris Sect’s territory had been the spark that lit growing conflicts between the sixty-six sects that had all joined together to create the Tyrannis Union.

While the Deamhain Sect had tried to use the deaths of their members to muscle in on the Miris Sect’s resources and territory, another one of the six great sects, the Antu Sect had come to their aid.

Of course, protecting the Miris Sect was just a way for them to strike back at Deamhain Sect. Apparently the two leaders of these more powerful sects had a long history of conflict.

"From what I heard, Diomed, the leader of the Deamhain Sect, grew frustrated with waiting around and just went ahead and invaded the Miris Sect. Ellison was confirmed to have been killed defending his sect, but the information I gathered about Maeve’s great aunt is unclear. She’s apparently missing, though I don’t know if that’s because she’s dead, been captured, or managed to get away and is in hiding somewhere." Lucia said, giving Evelyn the rundown on the initial results of their actions.

And had it stopped there, she would have been at least decently satisfied. Bringing down one sect and causing some internal turmoil was a good enough start to destroy the Tyrannis Union.

However, Diomed’s rash actions had caused a schism that had been building up between the sects to grow.

"I didn’t go to confirm anything with my own eyes, but the intel I gathered from merchants and information brokers pointed towards a larger war brewing on the horizon. Some border skirmishes supposedly have already occurred, and it seems like things could erupt at any moment. Perhaps they have already by now. It has been eight months since the last time I went out."

After having lost almost five years of her life to unconsciousness, this was the sort of good news that Evelyn needed.

She already knew that it was impossible for her to exist alongside the Tyrannis Union.

They would stop at nothing to get ahold of her and the Aethersphere. That was something they had shown when their forces had attacked the Roost with their primary objective being to abduct her.

Evelyn had no intention of ever being turned into a lab animal again, so the Tyrannis Union had to go.

"My anger and rage towards them has been brewing for over a century now, yet it feels like your even happier about all this than I am." Lucia said wearing a smirk.

"I’m just ecstatic to here that they’re tearing each other apart. Though, I am a little conflicted. I do want to be the one to annihilate the Deamhain Sect. I’ve been looking forward to showing them just what they created out in that forest all those years ago."

There was obsession in Evelyn’s eyes, but that came with the territory of devoting so much of her life to revenge.

Lucia recognized it, and she was not going to say anything to try and calm Evelyn down.

She felt the same way.

Some people may speak of how revenge only harms the one seeking it, but they had almost certainly never felt what it was like to have everything taken from them.

Once they had covered everything going on with the Tyrannis Union, Evelyn asked Lucia if there was any news about the Roost.

"Sorry, nothing I have heard at least. From what I gathered, they’re still laying low and trying to recover. That war did a lot of damage to the infrastructure the Roost has set up over several millennia. I’d imagine that Minerva doesn’t want to make a return until she’s certain that their defenses are far stronger than before. Perhaps she’s even trying to reach the next grade or waiting for some of the other prominent members to evolve to the calamity rank." Lucia suggested.

Evelyn felt a bit antsy not knowing anything that was going on with the Roost even after all of this time, but she supposed that no news was better than bad news.

’I’ll just have to trust in Melisandre. She should have fully recovered by now and I’m sure she’s doing what she can to reconnect the Roost with the world at large and come find me.’

As the four of them were chatting about the progress that Lucia, Bylur, and Aralee had made exploring the Verdant Warlord’s domain, Evelyn suddenly sensed two presences approaching at high speed.

She turned to look out of the crystal dome that served as the starting point of the domain and saw Rehni in the lead flying incredibly quickly, with Maeve struggling to keep up behind her.

"Evelyn! You’re finally awake!"

Rehni looked ecstatic to finally see her up, and Evelyn felt a warmth in her core being reunited with Rehni.

"Yeah, it’s been a few hours now. Lucia has been explaining to me what’s been going on in the world, and what you all have been up to. She was just telling me about how you gained access to the third layer a year and a half ago. So, you all managed to make it past that evil looking tree that was guarding the entrance." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Yes, we did. But that hardly matters right now. We have to celebrate your revival. There truly were a few times that it was looking bleak, and we weren’t sure that you’d pull through." Rehni said, an expression of relief on her face.

A few moments later, Maeve landed into the interior of the crystal dome and hesitantly approached Evelyn.

Their relationship before Evelyn fell into a coma was already complicated, but now it was even more so.

"Congratulations are in order. I hear that you’ve broken through the fourth rank."

"T-that’s right!" Maeve said in a bit of a fluster. "And, uh... congratulations to you too. I can’t begin to fathom what sort of ordeal you went through, but I’m grateful for your recovery."

There was a slight awkwardness in the air as the conversation petered out there. It seemed that neither Evelyn nor Mave knew what to say next.

"Well, as Rehni said, I think that a celebration is in order." Lucia said. "Let’s relax and have a bit of fun before we discuss what our next move is going to be. It’s been too long since we’ve all been together, so let’s bring out our best food and drinks and enjoy ourselves."
