Chapter 522: Rapid Movements.

The world, which had paused after the attacks of the void-born and the void beasts, had begun to move again after the dragons started their movements. No one knew why the dragons had started an eradication expedition like Anbord, but it wasn’t like they cared. After all, all the small kingdoms in Debranlith had been erased from existence. The only ones left were Anbord with its alliances Helheim and Fenrir, Alfheim of the Elves, and the Dragon Empire.

Anbord had already started its movements, and now the Dragon Empire, leaving only Alfheim. In the courtroom of Alfheim, Emperor Elandor Syltharion sat with his calm expression as usual.

His emerald eyes seemed to glow as he looked at his ministers and warrior heads of the empire. Everyone was silent as they waited for him to speak.

"Prime Minister Elyndor Guilde hasn’t returned... but, we are all aware what this means," his voice echoed in the vast room. Everyone’s expression changed at what he said. They knew what he was talking about. Elyndor being in Anbord at this time meant a lot of things, but the most important part was...

"This means that we are in a mutual alliance with the most powerful empire the world has ever seen. Some of you, in fact, most of you may think otherwise. You might be thinking that because his daughter, Andriel, is one of the empresses of the empire, Elyndor would be protected wherever he goes, and that wouldn’t benefit our empire.

But you are wrong. Very wrong. There is a saying that with great power comes great responsibility. That is true. But with great power comes greater challenges, and that challenge is the emperor of Anbord. If you had the level of power I had, you would be sensing what I am sensing. It is for this same reason that the dragon emperor has started his movements. His position as the most powerful is beyond threatened. It has been usurped, and he knows, and he will never allow it.

We have been caught in it. It is either we start cleaning around ourselves and deepen our relationship with one of the two, or stay as a neutral force in hopes of protecting our empire, which isn’t advisable, because we will be pulled into it. The dragon emperor will never accept an alliance, no matter how advantageous it would be for him. He will also never allow us to be neutral and will constantly pester us to do something that will give him a reason to destroy us. Which leaves our only option as Anbord."

One of the warrior elves raised his hand to speak. He was a tall, slim yet athletic man with long black hair and blue eyes.

"My emperor, if I may..."

"Speak, Lord Handel," Elandor said with a nod.

"I support what you say, but would the emperor of Anbord accept an official alliance with us? Two of his wives are from royal or imperial families of other nations, making their alliances official regardless of whatever brought it. But Andriel is not of the imperial family..." Handel spoke, and Elandor instantly knew where he was going. He raised his hand to signal him to stop. He then smiled and said to him.

"You are absolutely correct. But don’t suggest we offer him one of the princesses for marriage. It won’t work."

"But..."

"Lord Handel, I am not trying to use my authority or power to prevent you from speaking your mind. That is not the way of the elves. We are not the dragons, but beings of my level have crossed certain boundaries you can never imagine. Even speaking their name is enough to make them have their eyes on you, and you have Andriel’s eyes on you." The emperor’s statement caused a chill to run down everyone’s spines. Just what the hell was he talking about? Did he mean Andriel was already a demigod like him or one of the top level saints?

"I stopped you because if you had completed your sentence, then I would have lost one of my strongest warriors, and I wouldn’t even be able to stop it. And let me remind you that Andriel is the only Moon Elf in the world. At her current level, she can do things through the moon, even if it is for a limited time. If you don’t believe me, you can look outside."

Hearing this, almost all of them turned to look out of the window. Their eyesights were good so they didn’t need to get up and walk to the windows. A collective gasp ensued in the courtroom as everyone turned to look at the emperor with frightened and shocked expressions.

What they had seen wasn’t beyond their imaginations. It had been recorded as history in their scrolls. It was phenomenon that happened naturally and they all knew the times it happened. But this one was beyond that phenomenon.

What they had seen was the moon... the full moon, in broad daylight. It was currently day time and seeing the moon appear would be a shock to anyone. But if it were only that, it wouldn’t cause such a reaction. What they had seen was the moon, which was supposed to be a reflector of the sun, glowing brighter than the sun, making the daytime feel chilly instead of hot or warm. That wasn’t all.

With their good eyesights, they noticed someone standing on the moon. The moment they saw the person, they felt a piercing and heavy gaze on them. It reached deep into their souls, making them frightened to the max.

"Do you understand now? Don’t speak of beings like that anyhow... You wouldn’t know how you disappear," Elandor said with a smile. "Now..."

...

While the elves were having their meeting, the dragons had also started their attacks on the void-born and void beasts. They nuked large nests of the creatures, giving them no chance to fight back.

On Anbord’s side, they’d manage to recover 10% of their lands so far, and had started expanding territories. The upper echelon of the empire, who were all members of the imperial family with the Kael’Dri name, stepped in sometime to end fierce battles. The void creatures had no chance against them. The void creatures couldn’t even attack Anbord with them around.

...

The Kael’Dri stared at the shimmering black portal in front of them. In front of it stood a giant man with the trademark silvery-white hair. His long black horns were curved up regally as he stood before the portal that radiated an intense death aura.

His purple eyes drifted to his family and he smiled.

"Don’t worry guys. I will come back... definitely," Lamair said with a smile.

"Just go already!" Trevor shot back with a snort making Lamair smile mischievously. Whatever he was thinking of definitely not good.
