Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train
Chapter 1181 - 456: Stabilizing the Current
Including Lin Xian, no one aboard the Infinity or the Hawk Sea Group could have imagined that a train could shuttle like a starship through the depths of the ocean thousands of meters underwater.
In the Pacific Ocean, 2650 meters underwater in the eastern direction from Sea Rock, all light is obscured by deep water, yet in this pitch-black sea filled with the vast aura of death, there is an ocean current light path resembling a starlight ribbon winding through. This is the circulation beneath the ocean ridge, driven by stark thermal flux and pressure differences, flowing at incredible speeds like a high-speed oceanic tunnel.
Normally, this terrifying deep-sea current, apart from very few microorganisms and torpedoes before Apocalypse Day, is akin to a road of death, deemed dangerous maritime conditions for human submersibles, not normally thought of as being utilized in this way.
At present, in this brightly lit current zone by geothermal microorganisms, a train and a nuclear submarine are being swiftly carried forward by the powerful water flow, traversing through the dark sea.
Aboard the Infinity and Beifeng 09, though no gunshots or explosions were fired, it felt as if they had just endured a fierce battle. Chaos reigned within the cabins, major structures were twisted, window panes cracked, with scattered debris everywhere, and the air was filled with the scent of blood. Countless survivors were bleeding from head injuries, fainting from collisions was just the tip of the iceberg, fractures and punctures were quite common.
The terror just experienced was akin to being trapped in a high-speed centrifuge, and within minutes, everyone felt as if each moment was as long as a year, unsure how many times they had narrowly escaped the gates of hell. If it lasted any longer, who knows how many might have been shredded alive.
The situation inside Beifeng 09 was already dire, not to mention the Infinity. Such a slender train-converted submersible did not get torn apart in this extreme vortex entirely thanks to Lin Xian’s solid material choice at Yongcheng Port, using starship-level special steel for the pressure hull, along with Lin Xian and KIKI’s reparative efforts, preventing this massive deep-sea metal rod from breaking and tearing.
The situation was worst in carriages No. 8 and No. 9, with almost all of the dozens of Hawk Sea Group members wounded. On the Infinity side, Ryuji and KIKI were injured and unconscious, while others sustained light injuries. They were provided with interstellar-level power armor by Lin Xian, which was much safer compared to the ordinary protection of the Hawk Sea Group. However, despite this, the powerful overload effects left Miao Lu, Xiao Yuan, Lv Chang, Mo Xiaotian, Sun Yuzhen, including Sha Sha Luo Yang vomiting endlessly, disoriented, and their faces ghostly pale.
Vanessa was relatively alright, already starting to assist team members alongside Shu Qin, Da Lou, and others.
Monica, having removed her power armor, now stumbled from the rear compartment, trying to maintain composure but clearly not looking good. Her superpowers were overused earlier, and staying in the train’s last carriage made this one of her worst experiences since Apocalypse Day.
"You can still stand, impressive." Qian Deli leaned against the sofa in carriage No. 6, exhausted. Earlier, he completely played the role of the carriage’s fire chief, darting in with golden sparks repeatedly to save people and put out fires. He was exhausted, but his condition was one of the best aboard the whole train. As a Divine Speed Superpower User, extreme load was a piece of cake for him.
"Better off dead."
Monica approached, resting a hand on the sofa’s edge, her gaze sweeping around. Ryuji lay resting on the sofa, still wearing a mask even while unconscious. Sha Sha had an ice bag on her forehead, rolling her eyes repeatedly. Sun Yuzhen was applying medication to the abrasions of Mo Xiaotian and Luo Yang. The only one standing was Xiao Qing, with her expression unchanged but her brows furrowing deeply, looking in one direction where Lu Xingchen sat in the sofa corner, clasping a trash can and vomiting violently every so often, his face dark as iron, completely missing the ’Fire God’s’ usual flair.
"Lin Xian, how is everyone?" Monica asked at that moment. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Qian Deli raised his chin: "Shi Zhi is doing the healing, Lin Xian is up to some crazy stunt again, Shi Zhi said he was drained to the point where his spiritual power couldn’t focus, but it shouldn’t be too serious. Our captain isn’t just a decorative pillow after all, he’s quite something."
"Quite something~" Sha Sha touched her throbbing head and uttered somberly: "It scared me to death, I thought we were done for just now."
"Not necessarily." Ning Jing, sitting on the sofa massaging her temples, continued, "Worst case scenario, if the train body breaks, we should be able to burst out with the power armor."
Qian Deli shook his head and laughed, "Not that simple, Captain Ning."
"In this environment, with instantaneous explosion, even with starship-level power armor protection, few can withstand it you see." He gestured toward Ryuji, "However, things like this, and KIKI cutie along with me, Da Lou this Blood Qi Power User might withstand it, but others would struggle to have a chance. Slow descent and instant explosion are entirely different matters, let alone in that terrifying vortex."
"Alright, seems I underestimated the ocean’s power." Ning Jing responded at that point.
"Look."
At that moment, Mo Xiaotian looked out the porthole, exclaiming, "The light is dimming."
The words surprised everyone who then looked outside the porthole, seeing that the ocean current, which was previously like travelling through a band of light, had now dimmed a lot. The seawater began to turn deeply dark, with those faint bluish glows gradually becoming sparse.
