Chapter 122: Taming the Tiger King

Helen, have you thought about what kind of creature you want to control later? Alanna asked with great interest.

The creatures Helen controls will stay with them for a long time. Dynamic control of creatures allows them to be flexible in dealing with various unexpected situations.

However, powerful mutant creatures require a significant amount of resources to tame each time. After all, it’s about capturing, not hunting. Dynamic control, therefore, doesn’t seem feasible if you want to control powerful mutant creatures every time.

If it’s just some small animals like cats, dogs, or birds, it wouldn’t be very meaningful. Besides, for now, you can only control one creature. This position requires a significant immediate gain for both the team and the individual.

Helen has to give it serious consideration, and both Waldo and Alanna are aware of this. That’s why Alanna asked her.

Waldo has some options in mind for mutant creatures, but he didn’t say it out loud. This matter ultimately depends on Helen’s own ideas.

After thinking for a moment, Helen said, "I think I should choose a mutant creature with strong offensive capabilities. After all, we don’t lack functional abilities now, like healing and scouting; we already have those."

Waldo smiled. His options were precisely those mutant creatures with powerful attack capabilities. He didn’t expect Helen to consider the team’s overall needs from the start, which pleased him.

"So it’s settled then. Tomorrow, let’s explore the wilderness and find some powerful mutant creatures," Alanna and Helen responded enthusiastically.

Unlike the zombie clusters in the city, mutant creatures prefer to stay in the wild. Even after undergoing mutation due to infection, their original habits remain unchanged.

That night, they decided to rest early, and the next day, they set out near the outskirts, looking for suitable mutant creatures in the forest.

As they were driving in the automated armored vehicle, it soon gave a warning, "Automatic cruise ending, approaching the destination. Please switch to manual driving mode."

Back home, after bidding each other good night, they all retired to their rooms to rest.

The next morning, Waldo received today’s infinite supplies, and they set out after having breakfast. Fortunately, they encountered a mutated wild boar right from the start. Its massive fangs and enormous size made it an excellent choice.

Waldo smiled and said, "I think this boar is not bad."

But before he could finish his sentence, he quickly closed his mouth as he felt Helen’s murderous glare.

"Hey, women can be shallow sometimes," he muttered under his breath as he pulled out his AK47 and took down the wild boar that Helen didn’t approve of.

They continued moving forward, but they didn’t encounter any suitable mutant creatures after the previous wild boar.

Alanna got a little bored and casually remarked, "It would be great if we could come across tigers, bears, or something like that. It would be even better if we encountered those apex predators that were already at the top of the food chain. After all, these fierce animals will become even stronger after mutation."

Roar!

As if answering her wish, a mutant tiger with a black body and a sharp spike on its forehead appeared about fifty meters away, looking at them. It seemed to have already marked them as prey!

Waldo grinned.

"Be careful what you wish for," he thought. But of course, this was all based on their own powerful strength.

Waldo put on his combat suit and said to the others, "You two step back and let me handle this, you won’t be of much help. Protect yourselves and avoid getting ambushed."

Alanna and Helen nodded and stepped back. They knew that the best way to tame this Tiger King was to stun or give it a concussion and then use their abilities. Armed with their firearms, they could only watch from the sidelines.

Waldo extended his left hand and beckoned the mutant Tiger King with his index finger. He believed the creature would understand.

Provocation?!

Roar!

The Tiger King roared in anger and charged at Waldo.

Fast!

Waldo was surprised at the tiger’s swift performance.

Roar! The Tiger King shortened the fifty-meter distance in an instant, leaping high towards Waldo, towering over him by a considerable margin.

The Tiger King swung its forelimbs, attempting to strike at Waldo’s helmeted head with its claws.

Waldo didn’t dodge or retreat. He extended his left hand and met the tiger’s claws with an iron fist.

Puff!

Waldo’s punch hit the tiger’s claw, causing the Tiger King’s subsequent attacks to pause momentarily. It had intended to follow up with a tail attack to finish off the creature before it.

However, it didn’t expect to have its claw numbed by a punch from this creature in front of it.

The Tiger King took a cautious step back, eyeing Waldo warily. Its previously extended claw could only hang limply; placing it on the ground would be painful.

It wanted to retreat.

A tiger’s attack nature is to go for a swift, lethal blow, locking onto the throat. But now, not only did it fail to deliver a deadly blow, it also injured its own relied-upon front paw. For the tiger, this was a very dangerous situation.

Waldo noticed the Tiger King’s intention to leave. He slightly crouched down, tensing his calf muscles.

With a leap, he dashed towards the Tiger King, extending his right fist and striking the tiger’s forehead.

This was the Wu Song Fist!

The Tiger King was hit on the head, stunned, and dazed.

Instinctively, it wanted to counterattack, but Waldo grabbed the spike on its forehead and used it as leverage to jump directly onto the tiger’s body.

Then, he swung his powerful punches.

Roar!

The Tiger King wailed in agony.

"Waldo, stop! Don’t beat it anymore; you might end up killing this tiger!" Helen hurriedly said.

Waldo finally stopped, feeling somewhat unsatisfied.

Looking at the Tiger King under him, its face was already swollen beyond recognition, even worse than getting stung by a swarm of bees.

"Helen, hurry! While its mind is not clear, use your abilities quickly!" Now was the best time for Helen to use her abilities. The Tiger King’s condition was terrible.

Helen nodded and kept a safe distance while using her powers. The familiar green light appeared again, gathering in front of her.

Helen connected with the Tiger King’s mental energy.

Soon, the Tiger King’s eyes changed. Its previous ferocious and bloodthirsty gaze returned to clarity.

Success!

Helen checked the system, and it clearly showed that she had successfully controlled the mutant Tiger King.

After giving the Tiger King a command to stand by, she let Waldo get down.

Such a fierce mutant Tiger King, Helen wouldn’t allow Waldo to come down unless she was sure it was tamed. After all, among the three of them, only Waldo could subdue the creature.
