Apocalypse - Infinite Resource System
Chapter 200: Zombie flood
"My goodness, so many mortars and rocket launchers? Is this for real?!"
"How can there be so much equipment? They’re definitely not from those people I know inside. It must be Waldo’s!"
"Impressive, Waldo is truly something. He casually pulls out all these weapons and equipment, making us all envious!"
"I was wondering how Waldo would deal with tens of thousands of zombies. Turns out he has these killing machines! So it might not be impossible after all!"
"Haha, I believed in Waldo from the beginning.
For many survivors, having a rifle is already impressive. Rocket launchers and mortars are usually reserved for organized teams. Mortars, in particular, are rarely seen. Now, all of a sudden, there are so many of them. Naturally, this leaves them in awe.
At this moment, someone asks: "Where’s Waldo? Why haven’t we seen him yet?"
This question is shared by all the viewers, as many of them came to see Waldo.
Binder smiles and answers: "Don’t worry, everyone. Waldo has already begun his operation. Right now, he’s in the city, attracting the zombies, luring them into our encirclement. Let’s all wait and see!"
Just as Binder speaks, there are several distant shots from the city.
Binder’s expression subtly changes. "Waldo has started!"
His words make all the survivors in the livestream hold their breath, widening their eyes and perking up their ears. They don’t want to miss any exciting scenes.
"I heard a few shots, all in the city. It means Waldo has made initial contact with the zombies! Everyone knows that zombies are highly sensitive to noise and easily attracted by it!"
It won’t be long now. While Binder is talking, there are more sounds of artillery fire from different directions within the city.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
A large building collapsing in the city, apparently a result of the artillery fire.
Not long after, Binder’s ears were filled with countless buzzing sounds. These sounds all came from the city in the distance.
These weren’t ordinary mosquito-like buzzing sounds or anything else; they were the furious roars of countless zombies. Because there were so many sounds, densely packed together, it felt like a buzzing.
The buzzing sounds grew louder and more intense, to the point where it made hearts race and sent shivers down people’s spines. Binder’s face changed slightly.
"Brothers, have you heard it? The roars of these zombies? There are so many! It’s overwhelming, they’re everywhere!"
"My goodness, how many zombies are roaring like this?!"
Binder swallowed hard, feeling a bit anxious. Although he had witnessed Waldo hunting zombies once before, compared to what he was hearing now, it was like comparing a small firecracker to an explosion.
This time, just from the sounds, it was clear that Waldo had attracted far more zombies, and the number far exceeded the previous instance.
Taking a deep breath, Binder continued, "Brothers, the scale of this is enormous, much larger than last time. As he said this..."
In the distance, a tank raced out of the city, followed by an endless horde of zombies in pursuit. The thunderous sound of thousands of zombies running and roaring made the earth seem to tremble, like an earthquake.
Boom!
The earth was trembling, and an almost endless horde of zombies surged forth like a raging river from the heart of West City, chasing after the tank roaring desperately.
This spectacle was truly spectacular, especially for Binder, who was at the scene. The sheer magnitude of it struck him to the core, making his face go slightly pale.
Stuttering, he said, "Brothers, I-I didn’t see it wrong, did I? What is that? A flood of zombies? There... there are just too many zombies!"
At this moment, not only him but even the viewers in the livestream were left dumbfounded. Even though they were watching through screens, they could feel an overwhelming sense of pressure. Many people had accelerated heartbeats, and some even turned pale, their lips trembling.
"My goodness, why are there so many zombies? Thank goodness I’m not on-site; otherwise, I might have wet myself!"
"This is insane! I knew there would be a lot of zombies, but I never imagined there would be this many! How on earth are there so many zombies?!"
In truth, this overwhelming sight was mainly due to a lack of perspective. A hundred zombies at once was already a significant number, and a scale in the thousands was considered a horrifying figure. However, Waldo’s plan was to hunt down more than fifty thousand zombies, and the scale of this was beyond imagination.
"This scene should definitely go down in history!"
The barrage of comments was filled with amazement. Almost everyone had never witnessed anything like this before. It was just too grand.
Soon, many people began to express their admiration. They realized that only someone like Waldo could pull off such a massive feat. Others would be simply incapable of it.
On the other side, Waldo was close to swearing. He couldn’t believe he had inadvertently attracted so many zombies at once. In his plan, he intended to place a significant number of bombs in locations densely populated with zombies.
Using his abilities of teleportation and invisibility, he would plant these bombs strategically. Then, at the right moment, he would detonate them one after the other to lure the zombies.
In his initial estimates, he thought that in ten minutes, he might attract around three to four thousand zombies. After half an hour, this number would increase to approximately ten thousand. To reach his goal of attracting fifty thousand zombies would require at least an hour. It was supposed to be a gradual process.
However, just recently, things had taken an unexpected turn. "What the hell is going on? Are these zombies suddenly going crazy, appearing in such vast numbers?" Waldo was torn between wanting to laugh and cry.
He had only just begun luring the zombies, and in just ten minutes, he had attracted over ten thousand of them. This development had caught him off guard, and initially, he thought it was a good thing, potentially shortening the overall process.
But ten minutes later, he realized something was amiss. In that time frame, over thirty thousand zombies had been attracted, and they seemed different from before—more sensitive, more agitated, and more easily attracted by noise.
Waldo had to make a quick escape from the city because the situation had escalated rapidly. In that short time, the total number of zombies had already exceeded fifty thousand.
"Damn it, I attracted so many zombies at once. These zombies must be out of their minds!" Waldo grumbled in frustration as he sped away. Nevertheless, many zombies were still closing in on him.
"Damn it, these zombies are evolving too quickly!" Waldo cursed under his breath. "As of now, sixty percent of the zombies have become second-level zombies! The number of second-level zombies has exceeded that of regular zombies! They’re even faster! Not much slower than a tank!"
Waldo knew that the zombies in this world were accelerating in their evolution, especially in West City. Currently, the majority of zombies in West City were second-level zombies, which wasn’t the key issue. What worried him was the increasing proportion of third-level zombies.
Before, the ratio of regular zombies to third-level zombies was three thousand to one. However, Waldo was horrified to discover that this ratio had now increased to one thousand to one. This meant that over the past period, the number of third-level zombies had tripled.
Among the fifty thousand zombies chasing Waldo, there were almost fifty third-level zombies. The world was rapidly becoming more dangerous, and Waldo was convinced that his earlier decision to accelerate his own evolution was correct.
If he didn’t speed up, he would undoubtedly be eliminated from the competition. The zombies were evolving rapidly, and if he didn’t keep pace, they would gain the upper hand.
Waldo’s emotions were complex as he continued to evade the pursuing zombies.
Boom!
The tank roared. At that moment, several incredibly fast second-level zombies rushed towards him, but they were swiftly and accurately taken down by tank artillery.
Boom!
Boom!
Two shots later, these powerful second-level zombies were reduced to bloody pulp, scattered across the ground. On the other side, Binder had expertly captured these moments.
In the live chat, there was a cacophony of reactions.
"Oh my god, what incredible accuracy! Both shots hit the zombies spot on!" someone in the chat exclaimed. "You know, it’s really hard to control artillery shells, unlike bullets!"
"Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable! I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been amazed by Waldo. There are just too many miracles happening around him, I’ve seen too much!" another viewer added.
"Why are you all so worked up? Haven’t you seen enough of the world? Isn’t this just Waldo’s standard operation? Calm down!" someone tried to bring everyone back to reality.
"Haha, as long as it’s Waldo, we’ve become accustomed to it, no need to be surprised!" another viewer chimed in.
Many people were amazed, and some even teased each other. They had witnessed too many incredible feats from Waldo. If such a thing happened to anyone else, it would be extraordinary, but when it came to Waldo, it seemed almost routine.
Eventually, they realized that the person in the tank was Waldo – not an ordinary person. For some reason, a strange feeling permeated the entire livestream.
At that moment, someone mentioned Ronald and his group. "I wonder what Ronald and his gang are up to right now!"
"Heh, they must be seething with jealousy, unable to stand Waldo’s success. Especially Ronald, I’ve had dealings with him. He’s a narrow-minded, extremely manipulative hypocrite!"
"Yeah, you’re absolutely right. Right now, they might be plotting something sinister."
