Chapter 368: Restlessness

Dawn City, City Lord’s Residence.

Alanna, Helen, Calvert, Silva, and other high-ranking officials gathered in one place. Of course, there were also other trusted major alliance leaders and controllers who had joined Dawn City.

Waldo had shut down the live broadcast, and they had no idea what was happening. Helen looked grim and was deeply concerned about Waldo’s safety. She thought, "If Waldo really got into trouble, then I fear..."

Helen also thought about the recent situation in Dawn City, and her expression turned even more solemn.

Based on the last footage of the live broadcast, it seemed that Waldo had encountered the deity of the underwater world, the most powerful and formidable being in the underwater world. Waldo might not even be a match for them.

The people in the room fell into silence. They hadn’t expected the power of the deity from the underwater world to be so terrifying.

Although they weren’t present in the actual confrontation, they could tell from the events that unfolded how terrifying the enemy’s methods were.

Could Waldo really be his opponent?

Waldo had turned off the live broadcast and hadn’t responded to their messages. Could something have actually happened?

No, the City Lord definitely wouldn’t be in trouble!

That’s right, if the City Lord wants to escape, he’ll definitely manage to get away. It’s just a matter of when he can return.

The City Lord is probably going to have to tangle with the deity of the underwater world for a while. But breaking free from the tracking of the three main deities won’t be that easy!

Indeed, the City Lord will eventually be able to leave the underwater world; it’s just a matter of time. But right now, what they’re lacking is time.

The group fell into another bout of silence. The situation they were facing wasn’t optimistic at all.

Dawn City had traitors who had leaked the news, and many people had learned about Waldo entering the underwater world and not returning. As a result, many factions were getting restless. Over the past few weeks, Dawn City’s intelligence network had obtained more information.

According to the intelligence reports, at least a dozen cities have secretly entered into agreements to form a coalition to deal with Dawn City.

As time goes on, this number could increase further because there are indeed many cities that, on the surface, appear to be loyal to Dawn City but are merely in awe of Waldo’s power. Upon hearing about the possibility of Waldo being in trouble, they have become restless. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"Damn these bastards! They’ll surely regret their actions!" Calvert exclaimed, expressing his anger. He felt like skinning those people alive.

Soon, they discussed the current situation and devised a series of countermeasures and plans.

"Don’t worry, they won’t make a move for the time being, at most some covert actions. The City Lord’s influence is still strong, and they wouldn’t dare act recklessly. We just need to be careful not to let this situation drag on for too long," Helen assured them.

"I will contact Waldo again, and you all should accelerate the training of our troops. Many have recently joined Dawn City, and it’s essential to get them up to speed. Training must be intensified, and we can’t afford any delays."

She continued, "As for the traitors or spies, we need to identify them quickly. Those who came to Dawn City with impure motives should be thrown into the dungeons. If they resist, eliminate them on the spot."

The others nodded in agreement. "Yes!"

After further discussion, they disbanded. By now, it was getting late. The leaders returned to their rooms.

Alanna and Helen, along with other high-ranking officials, engaged in separate discussions and finally returned to their room.

Helen sighed, feeling mentally drained. "These days, there’s just been so much going on. Now, without Waldo’s protection, it’s incredibly challenging. We’ve encountered so much deceit and treachery. It’s overwhelming."

"In the past, under the absolute protection of Waldo’s strength, everything felt blissful. There were fewer conspiracies and power struggles," Alanna agreed. "But recently, we’ve experienced a lot of pressure and exhaustion we never had before."

"I feel like, in these past two weeks, we’ve grown so much," Helen said, looking at Alanna and sharing a bitter smile.

Just at that moment, another Alanna walked in from the door and gave her a curious look.

"Helen, who were you just talking to?" she asked.

Helen’s mouth fell open. She widened her eyes, surprised. Alanna had been right beside her just now. How did she enter from the outside? Helen quickly turned her head, only to find that there was no one beside her.

What had happened to the Alanna she was speaking with? She hadn’t imagined it, had she? Could they have encountered a ghost?

Helen felt bewildered and at a loss.

"It must be the stress. Don’t overthink it. We’ve faced plenty of challenges before, and we’re not easy to mess with. As the first city, we have a large population and a strong force, ranking in the top ten globally. We can handle more than a dozen cities. Even if we have many allies, we can send them packing," Alanna reassured her.

Despite the strength of Dawn City, there was still an underlying sense of unease. Helen nodded absently, then let out a sigh.

Was it just her imagination? But when she looked back, she saw Alanna looking at her with a strange expression and blinking.

Helen: ???

She paused, then turned her head toward the door. There stood another Alanna, staring at the Alanna next to her in astonishment.

What on earth was happening?

Helen’s drowsiness vanished, and her eyes widened in shock. They were experiencing something supernatural, weren’t they?

The other Helen mirrored her, looking equally astonished. This scene sent shivers down Helen’s spine – it was all too eerie.

"Hahaha! This is hilarious!" the disguised Helen exclaimed, and the other fake Alanna burst into laughter as well. Their laughter grew louder and more audacious.

Haha! Haha!

The impostors laughed brazenly, leaving Alanna and Helen bewildered. Who was this, and how could they mimic them?

In their confusion, they suddenly noticed that the laughter from the other side began to sound like the rugged voice of a man – a voice they were both very familiar with.

After a moment of puzzlement, countless thoughts flashed through their minds.

Oh, it’s you!

Waldo, you’ve actually returned!
