Chapter 382: Secret training

"If these carry nuclear warheads, it’s a genuine superweapon! It could potentially destroy the entire world! These missiles are said to have a global reach."

"However, it seems that these two missiles might not be able to strike any point on the globe, given their limited range. Still, they can target most areas, and protecting Dawn City won’t be an issue!"

"So, this is it. I’m seeing it for the first time, and it’s thrilling and exhilarating!"

The onlookers gaped at the scene, their excitement and astonishment apparent. Even Alanna and Helen displayed a keen interest in this new equipment, running their hands over the missiles and exploring the missile carrier as if they were experiencing something entirely novel.

Silva, Calvert, and others, on the other hand, seemed almost overwhelmed by the sight. They even ventured into the cockpit and attempted to operate the missile launch vehicle.

However, they quickly realized that Waldo was present and swiftly composed themselves to approach him.

Calvert, whose youth made him more easily excited, couldn’t contain his enthusiasm and asked, "Lord, are these missiles something you recently acquired?"

He had seen various types of ship-launched missiles during his time aboard the invincible ship. But these missiles were clearly on a different level altogether.

In the world before the Cataclysm, missiles were powerful national assets, and the ship-launched missiles he had seen before paled in comparison to these. Even without nuclear warheads, they were incredibly formidable.

Waldo nodded slightly and replied, "Indeed, I acquired them recently. You can have as many as you need."

Upon hearing Waldo’s resolute response, the group was left in wide-eyed astonishment.

Although they knew Waldo had access to seemingly limitless resources through special channels, the idea of acquiring an unlimited supply of missiles, including the considerable costs of maintaining them, was almost too much for them to believe.

However, they had faith that Waldo wouldn’t need to lie, so what he said must be true. This revelation left them even more astonished.

"This is fantastic! With weapons like these, what is there to fear from the sea creatures of the deep?" one of them exclaimed.

Another chimed in, "Exactly! When they show up, we’ll just launch a salvo of missiles, let them know we’re not to be trifled with!"

Laughter and celebration filled the room as they discussed their newfound security. The earlier concerns about dealing with a potentially overwhelming number of sea creatures were dissipating.

Just as the mood lightened, Alanna sighed and expressed a wish for even more formidable weaponry. However, she quickly realized that her comment had drawn strange looks from the others.

Helen gently coughed and explained, "Having two advanced missile models is already a significant advantage. Obtaining nuclear warheads would be a much more complex endeavor."

Alanna, feeling a bit embarrassed, nodded in agreement.

It was at this point that Waldo, with a hearty laugh, reminded them of the primary reason he had called them there: to alleviate their worries about the impending threat from the depths.

He assured them that they had the firepower needed to deal with any invading sea creatures, and his resolve was evident in his demeanor. The group felt reinvigorated and brimming with confidence as they continued discussing their plans.

Later, Waldo said, "You need to gather personnel to train in missile operations. Additionally, quickly prepare the launch sites for the missile vehicles. As a precaution, some missile vehicles should be stationed in concealed locations outside Dawn City so that they can assist us in case of a crisis within the city.Missiles have their range limitations and can’t hit targets that are too close. If a massive army of giants approaches the city, the missiles within Dawn City won’t be of use. At that time, we’ll have to rely on the missiles outside."

"Very well, I will get to work on the arrangements."

"I will find a group of reliable individuals as well."

Upon hearing Waldo’s instructions, Silva and the others immediately left. Handling missiles was a significant responsibility, and only trustworthy survivors were considered.

The most suitable candidates were those who had been with Waldo since their time on the Dawn Ark, and thus they were summoned from various roles on the ship.

Within half a day, nearly two thousand of these experienced individuals were gathered. They soon entered the Lord’s Mansion, which did not go unnoticed due to the considerable scale of this operation.

Initially, most residents thought Waldo might be addressing some issue within Dawn City or taking action against potential problems.

However, as more and more veteran survivors were called, they realized that something significant was afoot.

Five days passed, and heavy snow blanketed the land, giving the world an ethereal white coat. A group of people appeared in the distance and approached the base of the city walls.

This was the last batch of survivors who had finally arrived in Dawn City. The news of their arrival quickly reached Waldo.

There are over five million survivors globally, and now they have all gathered in our Dawn City.

While our city can’t accommodate such a large number of people all at once, the section of the city wall leading to Dawn City is also considered part of our city.

Therefore, after discussion, we decided to expand Dawn City’s territory to include the entire area where the city wall is located.

The original Dawn City will be referred to as the inner city, and the area beyond it will be called the outer city. The other four million survivors have settled in the outer city.

Fortunately, we have the necessary tools, and after several days of construction, we have already built a significant number of houses, tents, and various facilities to ensure everyone’s living conditions!

Silva held recent statistical data and reported the developments of the past few days to Waldo. Then he continued, "At present, almost all of the roughly 100-plus cities worldwide have reached Dawn City. However, there are a few cities that have not made a move; they seem to have no intention of coming to Dawn City."

Waldo raised an eyebrow. "Not coming to Dawn City? Do they think they can deal with the sea giants on their own?"

Silva asked, "Should we try to persuade them?"

Waldo shook his head, his lips curving into a cold smile. "No need. It’s their decision. It’s none of our business. If they’re choosing not to come, that’s their fate. Even if they all perish in the end, it has nothing to do with us. We need not concern ourselves with them, let them do as they please."
