Chapter 394: Disorderly

Time passed slowly, and it seemed the sea giants had no intention of deploying their forces. They remained camped outside without any desire to attack.

The sea giants weren’t bothered by the severe cold. Many times, the survivors could even stand on the city walls and watch giants, sometimes shirtless, running on the snowy terrain.

From day to night, the giant legions were engaged in various recreational activities. It was as though they had come to Dawn not to attack but to enjoy a vacation. Many people were puzzled.

"Have the sea giants lost their minds? What are they doing? Is there some hidden agenda or trickery? But it doesn’t seem like it!"

"I seriously suspect their brains have gone bad. Maybe their muscles are too developed, and their intelligence is too low?"

"How do you know that the sea giants’ muscles and brains are inversely related?"

"What the hell are they doing? If they want to fight, let’s fight. If not, they should leave! Staying outside and doing nothing, what’s the point? Is it fun for them?"

"I’ve been fed up with these guys for a while! In my opinion, we should just go out and fight them!"

The people were filled with frustration. These days, they had been mentally strained and were extremely tired.

After a few days, a restless mood began to spread among the survivors in Dawn City. At the same time, many individuals began to take liberties during their tasks, no longer as careful and cautious as before. Restlessness and lax discipline prevailed.

This was the current state of the survivors in Dawn City. They came from all over the world and did not belong to Waldo’s followers, so there was no strict discipline among them.

Although they had undergone several days of training, the results were not very apparent. At this moment, various shortcomings began to surface. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

At the Lord’s residence, Helen also noticed this situation and was quite frustrated. "These newcomers are nothing but a bunch of misfits with no discipline at all! If it weren’t for our shortage of manpower, I wouldn’t want them here. Let them die!"

"But now..." Silva sighed. "There’s not much we can do. They’ve only recently arrived in Dawn City, and they don’t entirely belong to our group. Their lord is still here, but they’ll leave after the war, so their hearts aren’t with us."

Calvert intervened, determined to rectify the situation. "Nevertheless, we can’t continue like this. We must be prepared on both fronts. First, we need to remain vigilant at all times to avoid the giants’ schemes. Second, we must prepare to make an example of someone."

The lax and indifferent state must be removed from our Dawn City ranks."

His words resonated with the others who nodded in agreement.

On that particular night, the survivors in Dawn City were even more disorganized. Many of those on guard duty lacked enthusiasm, and the number of people staying vigilant was limited.

"This is so boring! Why don’t the sea giants make their move already? How much longer is this going to last?" someone complained.

"Don’t be angry. Hang in there. When it’s daytime, it won’t be our shift," another tried to console.

"I’m really frustrated. Why is it always us on the night shift for Great Wasteland City? Why is that? They’re all asleep. I suspect some people are targeting us!"

"Keep your voice down. It’s the arrangement of important figures, so there’s a rationale behind it. Don’t make unfounded guesses."

"Unfounded guesses? What did I guess incorrectly? This is the truth, isn’t it? I’m just being honest."

As they whispered to each other, hundreds of tall, dark shadows emerged from within the giant legions. They approached Dawn City at great speed, using the cover of night and the falling snow to silently draw closer.

Meanwhile, on top of the city walls where survivors should have been monitoring the enemy, it seemed they had become embroiled in a conflict.

This was a team of elite warriors formed by the giant legion, a group of fanatical suicide soldiers. They quickly reached the outer wall of Dawn City, right at the base of the wall.

Their massive size made them appear inconspicuous against the towering wall.

Hearing the commotion from above, the survivors exchanged glances, their eyes revealing a hint of delight.

"Indeed, the leaders were right. The people of Dawn City are just a temporary assembly, utterly lacking discipline, nothing more than a bunch of irregulars. Their combat capabilities are dubious! As long as we employ some tactics, they will undoubtedly show plenty of weaknesses. It seems like that’s the case!" one of the leaders commented.

They held great admiration for the Second Battle Commander.

"Heh, that goes without saying. Don’t forget who the Second Battle Commander is. Apart from the three major gods, the Second Battle Commander has the strongest strength and the highest status!"

The other leader expressed his admiration too.

"Let’s get to work! Resolve them quickly, open the city gate, and let our troops inside!"

"Good!"

The two leaders hurriedly urged their group to ascend the wall.

Their movements were swift, and their climbing abilities were remarkable. Scaling a one hundred-meter-high city wall was not particularly challenging for them. Consequently, it didn’t take long before their silent figures began to ascend the wall.

At that moment, more than a hundred survivors gathered on top of the wall, engaged in a heated argument.

"Nonsense! This area was originally the territory guarded by your Dragon Tiger City. Why should we take it over? Did we initiate the attack? Your people provoked us first. Do you think our people would fight back? Acting recklessly and getting punched is only normal!"

"You dare say that again? Do you believe I’ll shut your mouth for good?"

"Heh, just relying on you? A mere Level 60 weakling dares to provoke me? Are you tired of living?"

The crowd engaged in a heated argument. These were forces from two different cities responsible for defending the nearby city walls. However, a conflict had arisen due to a dispute over the division of defensive territory.

As the argument escalated and a fight seemed imminent, some people nearby tried to intervene. Unfortunately, their voices were too feeble to make any impact. They were entirely ignored, as nobody was willing to listen.

Meanwhile, some individuals planned to sneak away in secret and inform on the situation. However, they hadn’t taken more than a few steps before they were intercepted by representatives from both sides of the argument.

"Keep your mouth shut!"

One person threatened fiercely.

The apprehended individual fell silent, too afraid to speak further. In the shadows, the giant legion’s suicide soldiers exchanged nods and then discreetly took out a few gas grenades. The thick gas dispersed with the fierce wind, moving toward the bickering survivors.

"Strange, why is there smoke?"

"What’s happening? It’s nighttime, and it’s snowing. How could there be fog?"

"Could something be on fire?"

"Quick, stop arguing and investigate what’s wrong. If there’s a fire, none of us will escape!"

Soon, someone spotted the presence of the smoke and became alarmed. Then they noticed that the color and scent of the smoke were off.

"Wait a minute, the color of this smoke isn’t right. Why is it yellow? And the smell is odd; it doesn’t resemble regular smoke. What’s going on? Why do I suddenly feel a bit dizzy?"

"Why are there so many people all of a sudden? How did you all multiply like this?"

They began to realize something was amiss.
