"Be cautious, stay vigilant, there might be dangerous things waiting for us outside."

Waldo’s face took on a serious expression. He stopped at the room’s entrance, listening intently. Faintly, at the doorway, there were occasional sounds of raspy friction. The sound was eerie and sent shivers down their spines.

The group held their breath.

"Let’s wait for a moment; there’s something outside. We’ve just arrived in this world and don’t know what’s out there. Safety is our top priority," Waldo said in a low voice.

Upon hearing this, everyone nodded.

Rustling sounds continued from outside.

Waldo tried to extend his senses to investigate the situation outside. However, the energy in this world was too unique.

Previously, his psychic powers could extend over hundreds of meters, revealing everything within that range. However, now, due to the special energy scattered in the air, Waldo’s psychic range had greatly reduced, and he encountered significant resistance.

Especially when he tried to probe outside, his expression changed slightly.

The room’s door, including the walls, had the ability to block psychic investigation. Waldo had no idea about the situation outside.

"No, I can’t detect what’s outside. What the heck is out there?"

"Don’t worry, that thing should leave soon; we just need to be patient," Tristan, Ulva, Herb, and the others responded, their expressions also changing slightly. Clearly, they had discovered that their psychic powers couldn’t extend beyond the room.

The materials used for the door and walls of the safe house had the ability to block their psychic powers. They had never encountered this situation before.

Everyone in the room was somewhat surprised, but considering this was the Land of Darkness, it seemed to make sense. The place was just too enigmatic, and they had no idea about what lurked outside.

Herb had a hint of hesitation on his face. The enchanting Ulva showed a similar look of uncertainty. She gazed at the robust Tristan, seemingly waiting for him to make a decision.

Intentionally or unintentionally, Ulva leaned her soft and sweet-scented body against Tristan’s chest.

Among the four people present, it was evident that Tristan possessed the strongest power. With her own considerable strength, Ulva could more easily discern the varying strengths among the group.

Among them, young Herb’s aura was not particularly robust. Under the influence of the peculiar forces, his strength was rapidly diminishing. This indicated that he had the weakest power among the three.

Both Tristan and Waldo had stable auras, and their strength was diminishing at a slower rate. Compared to the aloof and reserved Waldo, Tristan, with his playful and charming eyes, seemed more suitable as her target.

Ulva belonged to the Shadow Tribe, and her strength mainly came from her natural charm and various psychic abilities.

However, all four of them were strong trial participants, and her power appeared relatively insignificant in comparison. Additionally, her energy was depleting faster than the others.

If they couldn’t find food or other resources, she might be the first one among the four to starve. Her survival in the Land of Darkness was also more challenging due to her less robust physique.

Hence, finding a reliable and powerful partner was crucial for her. With her charm, she believed she could easily captivate Tristan.

As for Waldo, he exuded an aura of indifference that made him seem unapproachable, as cold as ice.

Over the years, she had encountered countless men, and while the enigmatic and aloof type appealed to her, it also came with challenges. At her current stage, investing time in someone like him didn’t seem worthwhile.

Ulva’s enchanting eyes shimmered, and her soft, sultry voice murmured, "Big brother, do you have a better plan?"

Next to her, Herb raised an eyebrow, his eyes showing a hint of disgust. Initially, she did capture his heart, but he didn’t expect...

Herb shook his head slowly in disappointment.

He also understood why Ulva made such a choice. However, he couldn’t help but feel disgusted.

"A plan? Little Ulva, don’t worry, I have plenty of ideas. You can trust me," Tristan grinned, eyebrows wiggling, and his large, rough hands pressed against the woman’s body, savoring the thrilling sensation his hands transmitted. The two of them became quite intimate, though they managed to maintain some decorum.

Quickly returning to the task at hand, they realized that their psychic powers couldn’t extend outside, so they had to wait quietly and listen carefully to what was happening outside. Gradually, they identified a pattern in the bizarre sounds coming from outside.

There was something lurking by the room’s door, visiting every ten minutes before leaving again. Soon, they had a plan. They would wait for this strange presence to move further away from the room before they ventured outside.

"It’s gone," Herb said in a hushed tone. "It should return in about ten minutes, but it hasn’t gone too far yet. Let’s wait another two minutes to ensure it has moved away before we go out to investigate. What do you think?"

Herb looked at Waldo, seeking his opinion. As for the affectionate couple that had suddenly become inseparable, he didn’t even want to look in their direction. Seeing Waldo nod, Herb quietly took a step back.

"Brother, you have fire, which is our only source of light here. You should lead the way to illuminate the darkness," Herb said with a smile.

Waldo narrowed his eyes, a hint of a sly smile appearing in them. He gave Herb a deep look, and Herb merely smiled back, stepping back another half step. The message was clear: Waldo should go first.

Waldo’s gaze then shifted, and he noticed that Tristan and Ulva were now closely leaning against each other. In the blink of an eye, two people who were complete strangers had become a pair of affectionate lovers.

However, in reality, both of them had their own motives and intentions, and genuine emotions didn’t exist between them.

Love? It was non-existent.

The two women didn’t seem to notice Waldo’s gaze and didn’t spare him a single glance, apparently lost in their own little world, oblivious to the sounds and events happening outside.

Seeing this, Waldo couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. He was well aware of the ulterior motives brewing in the minds of these three people.

Clearly, the people in the room were not as confident as they appeared on the surface, and they were not fearless in the face of the bizarre presence in the darkness.

The Land of Darkness was extremely dangerous, as even the system had mentioned. Their task was survival, emphasizing the peril of this place.

The bizarre life forms in the darkness were undoubtedly formidable, and they were hesitant to be the first to go outside. Instead, they indirectly pressured Waldo to go first.

In case of any unexpected incidents, Waldo would undoubtedly be the first to die, while the others, positioned behind him, could take advantage of the distraction created by Waldo to escape back to the safety of the house.
