Chapter 87: Chapter 87: The Space Transforms Her Body

Stella Sterling sighed, letting the wind wash over her on the rooftop. From this high vantage point, she looked down upon the city.

Though the once-bustling Mirefall had now become a dead, silent city of ice and snow, the sight of the varied, snow-covered landscapes still held its own kind of shocking beauty.

The cold wind whipped against her body, and Stella Sterling’s face was instantly flushed red.

This time, she had come specifically to endure the cold. She hadn’t put on any heat packs under her clothes, and her attire was rather thin. The chill was enough to make anyone tremble.

She did her best to acclimate to the cold, standing straight to resist it.

The reason she hadn’t done this before was because her body had been weaker, and she hadn’t been well-acclimated to the cold.

But now, thanks to her training, her body was much tougher. The blizzard had been raging for nearly two months, and while she hadn’t made a special effort to adapt, the environment itself was slowly changing her body’s functions. The effect was very, very slow, but there were changes nonetheless.

That was why she dared to do this today. If she couldn’t take it anymore, she could go home immediately.

In the biting wind and heavy snow, Stella Sterling sat cross-legged on a wooden board she had placed beneath her. Her face was flushed red, her body was covered in a layer of snow, and her hair was nearly white. Her long eyelashes looked as if they were about to freeze over.

But her body, which had been trembling from the cold moments ago, had now stabilized. Beneath her seemingly calm expression, her mind was screaming.

’I must be insane to put myself through this suffering!’

’Damn it, it’s so cold!’

’I swear, once I’ve trained my body, I’m never doing this stupid shit again!’

She cursed endlessly in her head, but Stella Sterling showed no sign of giving up. On the contrary, her posture became even more stable.

After an unknown amount of time, the light in her eyes actually grew brighter.

A hint of disbelief crossed her face.

This was a cold that seeped into your bones. After sitting for several hours, Stella Sterling was reaching her limit. She was already planning to go home and take a hot bath.

But unexpectedly, something wonderful happened. It was as if her space sensed that her body was being damaged, and it began to slowly fortify her meridians.

The chill gradually began to recede. This discovery thrilled Stella Sterling, and she immediately settled back into her seated position.

As this process repeated, not only did Stella Sterling stop feeling cold, but she felt her body had grown much stronger—not in the sense of increased physical strength.

It was a feeling of her body strengthening from the inside out. The biting cold was having less and less of an effect on her.

"Haha—" Stella Sterling laughed out loud, her heart filled with an indescribable excitement. She had long known that her space would slowly heal her body when she was injured, but she never imagined it would work like this.

She thought she would have to suffer for a while longer, but now it seemed she wouldn’t have to do this for much longer.

This maneuver from her space not only allowed her to adapt to the cold quickly but also strengthened her body in the process. How could she not be ecstatic?

Seeing that it was getting dark, she didn’t linger on the rooftop. She turned and went back down. In the hallway, she saw the bloodstains from yesterday and the man’s corpse, and she frowned.

Just then, the door to the apartment opposite hers opened. Willow Young was about to step out, but upon seeing Stella Sterling, she jumped back inside in fright and quickly shut the door.

Stella Sterling had no time for her. Looking at the mess by her door, a flicker of displeasure crossed her eyes. She went inside and found Stephen Lawrence. "Where do the four people who came with you yesterday live?"

Stephen Lawrence was barely conscious, but upon hearing Stella Sterling’s question, it was as if he’d heard a command. He instantly lifted his head and obediently answered, "The four of them, they all live in this building. They live in..."

The group had been working together for some time, so they were familiar with each other’s details. After giving the information, Stephen Lawrence passed out again.

Stella Sterling turned and left her apartment. A short while later, the four people who had fled the previous day were back on the 28th floor. They looked terrified, cautious, and ghastly pale.

When they had fled back to their homes yesterday, the woman from the 28th floor hadn’t pursued them. They thought they were safe. After a whole night passed with no trouble from her, they had finally let their guard down.

But unexpectedly, she had come for them today. They didn’t dare open their doors, afraid they’d be stabbed to death the moment they did. They thought they’d be safe as long as they hid inside.

Who would have thought she would just start kicking the door? With each kick, the door shook so hard their entire apartment trembled. It probably wouldn’t take more than a few kicks for the door to give way.

Realizing they couldn’t hide, those with families were especially afraid of getting them involved, so they had no choice but to open the door and come out.

They thought they were dead for sure, but she only told them to come upstairs. They then discovered that everyone from yesterday was here, except for the one who had died and the one with the severed arm.

"Young lady, what is it you want us to do?" the old man asked, his voice trembling. His heart was in his throat.

The others also looked at Stella Sterling, their hearts pounding with anxiety. The young man pleaded, "Beauty, please let me go. I was just trying to get some food, and you slashed me. Isn’t that enough?"

The others felt the same way but didn’t dare to say it out loud.

Of the two women, the younger, prettier one flicked her long, matted, wavy hair and shot Stella Sterling a seductive look. "Little sister, why don’t I keep you company? Just let your big sister go, won’t you?"

Hearing this, the old man and the other, older woman shot the younger woman a look of contempt. The young man’s eyes, however, lit up as if he’d had an idea. He flashed what he thought was a handsome smile. "Beauty, let me go! I’m willing to stay by your side and serve you!"

As he spoke, he even tried to give Stella Sterling a flirtatious wink. His face was reasonably handsome, so if he could just...

’Does this guy have any idea how filthy he is right now? Is he deliberately trying to gross me out?’

Before Stella Sterling could speak, the woman with the wavy hair took two steps forward and pulled down the top of her clothes a little. "Little sister, how can a stinky man like that be as considerate and gentle as us women?"

Stella Sterling’s brow furrowed. "Cover yourself."

’What a killjoy!’

The woman grumbled internally but didn’t dare let it show on her face. With a seductive smile, she pulled her clothes back into place.

Seeing this, the man thought he saw his chance and grinned. "Beauty, don’t worry, I know how to make a girl happy. Keep me by your side to serve you, and I guarantee you’ll be comfortable and well taken care of."

With that, he stepped forward and reached for Stella Sterling’s clothes, but she sent him to the ground with a swift kick. A cold glint flashed in her eyes. "Don’t fucking disgust me!"

The wavy-haired woman flinched, then let out a breath of relief.
