Ascending to Godhood: I Can Foresee All Futures
Chapter 102 - 90: The Immensity of Heaven and Earth
"Men of the Huang Family, we’d rather die than surrender! Fight them! Avenge the Patriarch!!"
The desperation of their situation ignited the fighting spirit of the Huang Family members. The elder, Huang Ke, his eyes bloodshot, stared daggers at Chen Sheng. Old grudges and new hatreds surged in his heart. Ignoring the disparity in their strength, he let out a furious roar. Wielding a Ring-Headed Saber, he madly poured Force from his body into the blade, which transformed into a piercing, cold gleam as he slashed directly at Chen Sheng.
"You damn official, die!"
Faced with such a rage-fueled attack, Chen Sheng didn’t even bother to lift his eyes.
Meanwhile, Yang Yi, who had been impatiently waiting at the side and was eager to present his Pledge of Loyalty, saw his chance and shouted loudly:
"How dare you traitors act so insolently!"
The Treasure Sword at his waist sang as it left its scabbard, becoming a streak of light that precisely intercepted the edge of Huang Ke’s saber.
"CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG—!"
Sparks flew as Fierce Qi surged everywhere.
The two were instantly locked in combat, the dazzling flashes of saber and sword bewildering the eye.
The more Huang Ke fought, the more aggrieved he felt. He cursed angrily, "Yang Yi, you shameless, backstabbing villain! If my Huang Family falls today, your Yang Family will surely follow in our footsteps tomorrow!"
"Facing death, yet you still dare to spout such nonsense."
Yang Yi parried his opponent’s attack with a sweep of his sword. His expression unchanging, his voice carried in all directions:
"The Huang Family colluded with water bandits and plotted a rebellion. Their crimes are monstrous. Commander Chen is acting on orders to eliminate them, ridding the nation of traitors and protecting the people from harm. My Yang Family has been good and loyal for generations. How could we possibly associate with rebel scum like you?
"Surrender now, and perhaps I, for the sake of our past relationship, will grant you the mercy of an intact corpse."
Huang Ke roared, his eyes filled with grim determination. He violently took out a Blood-red Elixir and stuffed it into his mouth. It was none other than the Blood Burning Pill, a substance that burned one’s life force to stimulate their potential.
Soon, Huang Ke’s face turned crimson, and his aura surged violently as he charged at Yang Yi once more, heedless of the consequences.
Elsewhere, not to be outdone, Li Huai Sheng gave a sinister laugh. His figure flickered as he went straight for the Huang Family’s Great Uncle—who had remained silent but whose aura was deep and hidden. With a flourish of his hands, he sent countless Poisoned Hidden Weapons flying toward him like a swarm of locusts.
"Hahaha, Li Huai Sheng, you backstabbing dog! You dare bark before me?!"
The Huang Family’s Great Uncle let out a long, sorrowful, yet resolute laugh. He had already resolved to die.
With a shake of his arms, the robe on his upper body exploded into fragments, revealing crimson skin like branded iron. His vital energy steamed off him as he forcibly raised his strength to an astonishing level in a short time.
The next moment, the Great Uncle thrust out his palms. The resulting wind was so powerful and tyrannical that it blew all the Poisoned Needles out of the air.
"With the Gao Family as a precedent, did you think I would be unprepared? Since the Government Office won’t let the Huang Family live, then we’ll all be destroyed together! It’s you or me."
Almost simultaneously, another Marrow Transformation Realm elder from the Yang Family tacitly joined the fray. He and Li Huai Sheng flanked the berserk Great Uncle of the Huang Family, attacking him from left and right.
The great battle had begun.
The entire Huang Family courtyard instantly transformed into an Asura’s field where flesh and blood flew. The air was filled with an unending cacophony of screams, clashes of weapons, and the explosive sound of Fierce Qi.
Yet Chen Sheng, the mastermind behind it all, still stood calmly where he was, his expression indifferent as he surveyed the battlefield. Even if he didn’t make a move, with the Huang Family’s remaining strength, their annihilation was only a matter of time.
He had a deeper reason for not intervening.
He was watching Xu Shenzhi and Han Ling’er.
They were his true targets for the day.
He was determined to obtain that strand of Innate Spiritual Qi.
However, given their status as disciples of the Iron Sword Sect, he couldn’t make the first move. But if they couldn’t control themselves and got involved in this battle to ’suppress the rebels,’ then the nature of the situation would be entirely different.
The melee inside the Huang Family Mansion had erupted so suddenly and so brutally that it caught both Han Ling’er and Xu Shenzhi off guard.
A deep chill filled Han Ling’er’s heart. Chen Sheng’s ruthlessness and cruel decisiveness made her shudder.
But Xu Shenzhi, seeing his maternal uncle grievously wounded and his maternal family being slaughtered, on top of the provocation from the broken engagement, could no longer hold back:
"You damn official, you treat human lives like grass, killing the innocent wantonly! Today, I’ll teach you the immensity of heaven and earth!"
"SHIIING—!"
The clear ring of a sword echoed across the battlefield.
The Treasure Sword at Xu Shenzhi’s waist, as green as autumn waters, was drawn without hesitation. It unleashed a pool of eerie green, cold light. His body soared into the air like a great roc spreading its wings. The pure Force within him erupted without reservation as he pointed his sword tip directly at Chen Sheng, a frigid killing intent sweeping forward.
The corner of Chen Sheng’s mouth, which held a barely perceptible smile, finally bloomed into a full grin.
This was the moment he had been waiting for.
The instant Xu Shenzhi drew his sword, Chen Sheng moved.
His Treasure Saber, the Cold-Intimidating Treasure Saber, let out a soft hum as its ghostly, cold light flashed into existence.
The bluestone tiles under Chen Sheng’s feet shattered as his figure shot into the air.
"CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG—!"
In mid-air, saber and sword clashed at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye. The piercing screech of metal on metal became a continuous drone, and exploding sparks rained down like a sudden shower.
And Xu Shenzhi truly lived up to his name as the Young Master of the Xu Family and a top disciple of the Iron Sword Sect. Not only was his Swordsmanship dense and precise, but he also wielded a Treasure Soldier of the same tier as his opponent’s.
In the initial exchange, he managed to withstand Chen Sheng’s tide-like assault.
But that was all.
The next moment, a sharp light glinted in Chen Sheng’s eyes.
His aura changed abruptly. A layer of reserved yet heavy, pale golden light seemed to shine from beneath his skin, and his entire right arm, which held the saber, appeared as if it were cast from gold.
His strength suddenly skyrocketed.
The saber’s blade trembled. A one-foot-long, incomparably condensed, almost tangible, and chillingly cold saber gleam pulsed from the edge of the ’Shehan’, descending with a terrifying power that seemed capable of tearing through anything.
"A saber gleam extending a foot long?!"
Xu Shenzhi’s pupils shrank, his heart pounding in utter shock.
That was usually a sign of an expert whose Cultivation had reached the peak of Foundation Establishment and was touching the Innate Threshold. He had never imagined Chen Sheng’s foundation could be so profound.
How could he dare to block such an earth-shattering strike head-on?
He quickly tapped his feet, attempting to evade with his exquisite Body Technique.
But to his utter horror, Chen Sheng’s strike, though seemingly simple and direct, felt as if it had returned to a state of primal perfection. It sealed off all his escape angles and was so fast he had almost no way to dodge.
"BANG!!!"
In his haste, Xu Shenzhi could only block with his sword held horizontally.
The saber gleam viciously struck the Jade Green Treasure Sword. An irresistible, immense Force, like a bursting mountain flood, surged wildly through the body of the sword.
"PFFT!"
Xu Shenzhi, as if struck by a heavy hammer, spat out a mouthful of blood. He was viciously knocked out of the sky like a meteorite, slamming heavily onto the ground and sending dust flying.
But Xu Shenzhi was indeed formidable. The instant he landed, he endured the excruciating pain, tapped the ground with the tip of his sword, and used the momentum to launch himself back up. He managed to muster a dim, two-inch sword gleam on his blade and thrust back at Chen Sheng.
"Good."
Chen Sheng’s battle lust surged. The surging Force inside him flowed like a great river, and his speed increased again. With a flicker of his body, he closed in on Xu Shenzhi like a maggot feasting on bone.
"DING—!"
It was another head-on clash, devoid of any tricks.
This time, the absolute disparity in strength was laid bare.
The Jade Green Treasure Sword in Xu Shenzhi’s hand was violently knocked aside. The web of his hand split open, dripping with blood, and his entire body was sent flying backward again like a kite with a broken string.
Seizing the advantage, Chen Sheng gave no quarter, following him like a shadow and catching up in an instant.
He quickly clenched his left fist. The Force from all over his body gathered into it like a hundred rivers flowing to the sea. The very air seemed to compress, letting out a low whine. He threw a straight punch, aiming directly for Xu Shenzhi’s wide-open chest.
"What?!"
Still in mid-air with nothing to push off from, Xu Shenzhi’s eyes filled with terror and disbelief as he watched Chen Sheng appear before him as if by teleportation. In his panic, he could only manage to hastily mobilize his remaining Force and slap out with his left palm in an attempt to block.
"BANG!!!"
The fully charged iron fist collided thunderously with the hastily gathered palm force.
The result, naturally, was without suspense.
"CRACK"
The jarring sound of bone breaking rang out.
Xu Shenzhi’s left arm twisted and snapped at an unnatural angle. A ghastly white shard of bone pierced through his skin and flesh, exposed to the air.
He then let out an uncontrollable, blood-curdling scream as his body was thrown backward.
Chen Sheng’s assault didn’t stop. He spun like a whirlwind and unleashed a powerful, heavy whip-kick, lashing it like a steel whip against Xu Shenzhi’s already injured left shoulder.
"BOOM—!!!"
Xu Shenzhi’s body was thrown like a projectile from a catapult. Wrapped in terrifying force, he smashed directly through a thick pillar supporting the corridor’s eaves behind him.
Wood and stone splintered as dust filled the air.
Xu Shenzhi lay limp in the rubble, blood pouring continuously from his nose and mouth, his aura instantly weakening to an extreme degree.
Chen Sheng used the momentum to perform an aerial flip, landing lightly back on the ground. His robes fluttered, yet they remained unstained by even a speck of dust. He looked down condescendingly at Xu Shenzhi and said in an icy voice, thick with undisguised mockery:
"So, this is what you meant by... the immensity of heaven and earth. This official has now seen it for himself."
