Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 187: He Has No Objections, What Business Is It of Yours?
Du Liya’s divorce from Shen Zhengfeng was not going smoothly, especially with Shen Zhengfeng’s mother making a scene. She had just closed her eyes and passed out right in front of Du Liya.
Old Mrs. Shen wasn’t opposed to Du Liya divorcing Shen Zhengfeng. She was opposed to Du Liya daring to take half of the Shen Family’s assets.
Shen Zhengfeng’s sister, Shen Xiaoya, supported the old woman as she glared at Du Liya. "Sister-in-law, I always thought you were a reasonable and generous person. How can you act like a robber, trying to take half of the Shen Family’s fortune just because you’re getting a divorce!"
Du Liya wasn’t one for arguments, but now she was so furious she was trembling all over. "Everything the Shen Family has now came from my initial investment and what Shen Zhengfeng earned himself! How did it become ’your’ Shen Family’s? How much money have you bloodsuckers siphoned from the two factories over the years? And you—didn’t both of your husbands embezzle from the factories? Once they had taken enough, they dumped you and your two kids and ran off with other women, didn’t they?"
Shen Xiaoya had graduated from a nursing school and could have gotten a job as a nurse at a hospital. However, she complained that nursing was too exhausting and insisted on working at her big brother’s factory instead.
She joined the clothing factory and was immediately placed in a minor leadership position. Her first husband was a team leader there at the time, and he managed to seduce Shen Xiaoya. The two of them had a whirlwind romance and quickly got married.
After that, thanks to Shen Xiaoya’s constant pleading, her husband’s career took off like a rocket until he eventually became the manager of the sales department.
Then, the man secretly transferred money out of the business, claimed he had a terminal illness, and asked Shen Xiaoya for a divorce. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Not wanting to be stuck with a terminally ill husband, Shen Xiaoya readily agreed to the divorce. The very next day, the "terminally ill" man was seen with his young, beautiful mistress. They got married and left North City together.
It was only later, when Shen Zhengfeng checked the accounts, that he discovered the man had embezzled over 500,000 from the clothing factory!
Shen Xiaoya was stunned. She and her daughter cried for days. In the end, she moved into her big brother’s house and refused to leave, claiming under the guise of "needing to heal from her trauma."
But Shen Xiaoya’s "healing" didn’t last long. She started going to dance halls, where she met a man three years her junior. They fell in love and, once again, rushed into marriage.
Everyone was flabbergasted, but Shen Xiaoya just retorted with the old saying, "A woman three years older is worth a brick of gold."
Some "brick of gold." The man was unemployed, so he joined the Shen Family’s paint factory. Although he had no real skills, he was handsome, so they put him in public relations.
All of that was bad enough, but what left Du Liya truly speechless was that her remarried sister-in-law still hadn’t moved out. She just moved her second husband and her child in to live there as well.
She claimed she was used to living there and wouldn’t be comfortable anywhere else.
Old Mrs. Shen had her daughter late in life, and out of her three sons and one daughter, she doted on Shen Xiaoya the most. Coincidentally, Shen Xiaoya got pregnant around that time, which made Old Mrs. Shen even more reluctant to let her daughter move out.
This led to several arguments between Du Liya and Shen Zhengfeng. He had no feelings for her to begin with and would always accuse her of being unreasonable before turning around and going to Ping’an Town to seek comfort from Li Xiaomei.
However, Shen Xiaoya had terrible taste in men. Her second husband ran off with a female business owner when she was six months pregnant.
Now, looking at the old woman playing dead and her ungrateful sister-in-law, Du Liya’s chest ached with fury!
Shen Yi steadied his mother and said in a level voice, "Mom, don’t bother arguing with them. Shen Zhengfeng already agreed to the terms."
Old Mrs. Shen was still playing dead and couldn’t "revive" immediately. It was Shen Xiaoya who frowned and said, "Xiao Yi, what kind of way is that to talk? That’s your father! How can you just call him by his full name!"
"He doesn’t have a problem with it. What’s it to you?"
"You!"
