Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 22: Doing Business
Su Yun was truly touched, and her eyes welled up with tears.
When she had wanted to marry Qin Zhonghui, her family had actually been against it. Her parents disapproved, and so did her three older brothers.
It wasn’t that they thought Qin Zhonghui was a bad person. They just felt he was a bit too guileless and honest. More importantly, the Qin Family was difficult to deal with.
The patriarch was a domineering tyrant, the matriarch was easily swayed, and the eldest son’s family were such sycophants. Most importantly, the entire family doted on the youngest, Qin Jiqun.
Qin Zhonghui, the second son, was stuck in the middle, unloved by his parents and ignored by his younger sibling. Combined with his simple nature, how could Su Yun not suffer after marrying him?
And in reality, Su Yun wasn’t well-liked after she married into the family. Later, after giving birth to two daughters in a row, she was even more scorned by the Qin Family.
Fortunately, Qin Zhonghui genuinely treated Su Yun well, so when her parents-in-law made things difficult or her younger brother-in-law’s family taunted her, she just endured it.
However, Su Yun could endure her own mistreatment.
But her children had been bullied, and she wasn’t about to let that slide!
After buying groceries and returning home, she found that Qin Jiao and the others had just arrived. Qin Jiao immediately went into the kitchen to help wash and prep the vegetables, pulling Xiao Shi along to help.
Xiao Shi, who had been withdrawn and silent all day, finally brightened up after seeing her older sister. She followed her around like a little tagalong.
Qin Zhonghui wanted to help too, but he was shooed out of the kitchen. In the end, he sat with Su Lei in the living room, watching the evening news.
Dinner was ready soon. During the meal, Sun Miaohong brought the matter up herself. She said to her husband, Su Lei, "Tomorrow, you should help them find a house. It’d be best if you could find them some work, too. By the way, Xiao Yun, you two, what kind of work are you thinking of doing?"
"What about cooking? That’s about all we know how to do," Su Yun said.
Qin Jiao, who was placing a piece of meat in Xiao Shi’s bowl, shoveled a mouthful of rice and said casually, "Mom, Dad, why don’t you sell steamed buns near the school in the mornings? The county government building is also not far from my school. A lot of people probably don’t have time for breakfast, so if you make some buns, I’m sure they’ll sell really well."
At that time, people were just starting to go into business for themselves. While not a huge number, there were quite a few.
But selling things like steamed buns and fried dough sticks looked simple but was incredibly tiring. It was hard-earned money, and not many people were doing it at the time.
Su Yun and Qin Zhonghui were both stunned. ’Wasn’t this suggesting they start their own business?’
They had always worked for other people; they’d never once considered going into business for themselves.
Qin Zhonghui sank into thought. Su Yun laughed awkwardly and said, "Running a business isn’t something just anyone can do. Little Nine, don’t be ridiculous."
But Su Lei, sitting beside them, said, "I think Xiao Jiao has a good point. Where I work, there are definitely people who don’t have time to get food in the morning. The cafeteria isn’t open yet, so they just go hungry. By the way, Zhong Hui, I told you to watch your health and not to take stomach problems lightly. It’s because I had a former superior who always skipped breakfast. He ended up with serious stomach issues and his son had to take him to a major hospital in the provincial capital for treatment."
"I think it could work, too!" Sun Miaohong also thought it was an excellent idea. "Besides, it’s a small-scale business, so you won’t need to invest much at the start. You can give it a try for a while, and if it really doesn’t work out, you can always do something else. You have to be brave enough to try new things."
Su Yun was starting to be won over. She turned to look at Qin Zhonghui. "Zhong Hui, what do you think?"
Qin Zhonghui gave a good-natured smile. "If you want to do it, then let’s do it!"
"Okay, then," Su Yun said. "We’ll sit down and figure out the details later!"
