Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 305: Who’s Better, Me or That Big Brother?
Shen Yi had been annoyed to hear that Chen Feng was in the same train car as Jiao Jiao. But when he heard Xiao Shi’s last words, the tension in his brow slowly eased.
He couldn’t vouch for much else, but Shen Yi could guarantee one thing: his mother in this life was leagues better than that Li Xiaomei.
Now in a great mood, Shen Yi casually asked, "Xiao Shi, who do you think is nicer? The big brother you met on the train, or me?"
"Of course you are! He can’t compare to you at all."
A smile bloomed on Shen Yi’s lips. "Does Xiao Shi like roast chicken?" he asked. "When we get home, if you’re not too sleepy, I’ll take you out to eat."
"Okay!" Xiao Shi paused, then added in a small voice, "Can we bring my mom and dad and my sister too? They always save the best food for me, and I don’t want to be the only one eating something good."
The little girl was so thoughtful it made your heart ache.
Shen Yi smiled. "Of course. If they’re not too tired, we’ll all go together. It’s my treat."
"Thank you, Big Brother Shen Yi!"
Qin Jiao was actually still awake and had heard the entire exchange between Shen Yi and Xiao Shi. She couldn’t help but feel the corner of her mouth twitch.
’So this is how the reborn Shen Yi operates, quietly digging traps for me? Come to think of it, I was so busy arguing with him in my past life that I never realized he could be this devious.’
’Though he really didn’t need to worry about Chen Feng. Qin Jiao knew with absolute certainty that she would never fall for him.’
’After all, he was Lin Nian’s man. It wasn’t as if she, Qin Jiao, was doomed to be single forever. Why would she ever want Lin Nian’s sloppy seconds?’
Beidou seemed boisterous, but he was a steady driver. He had a domestic driver’s license and was even trying to convince Shen Yi to get one too.
"It’s the perfect time, since school hasn’t started for you yet. You can get a license. It’ll be super convenient for going out in the future." He winked at Shen Yi and glanced back at Qin Jiao.
The implication was crystal clear: if you could drive, you could easily take the girl you liked out for a spin.
Shen Yi actually gave the matter serious thought. After Qin Jiao "woke up," he asked her if she wanted to get her driver’s license with him.
In her past life, Qin Jiao, like Shen Yi, knew how to drive. But in this life, they weren’t supposed to know how yet, and neither of them had a license.
Getting one was a good idea; it would certainly be useful in the future.
So Qin Jiao nodded. "Sure."
Now that he had another chance to spend time alone with Qin Jiao, Shen Yi suddenly found Beidou much more agreeable than before.
The Jeep finally stopped at the main gate of a courtyard house. From the outside, the house looked a bit old and worn, as Shen Zhengfeng had been using it for storage.
But upon entering, they discovered the courtyard house was actually quite large and in a prime location. Qin Jiao made a quick mental calculation, ’In the future, selling this place for a hundred or two hundred million would be no problem at all.’
Du Liya immediately came forward to greet them. "I haven’t been back in the country for long," she said, "so I only had time to get some of the rooms cleaned up. The rest of the place is still a bit of a mess, so please, make yourselves at home."
Su Yun quickly replied, "Please, don’t say that. We’re already incredibly grateful that you’ve given our family a place to stay. By the way, if any part of the courtyard or the house needs tidying up, just let us know. Aside from house hunting, we’ll have plenty of free time over the next few days."
"Oh, let’s not talk about chores right now," Du Liya said. "You all should get some rest first. Riding the overnight train is exhausting. I’ve already slept for half the day and still haven’t recovered."
Qin Zhonghui glanced at the time and, out of habit, went to find the kitchen, planning to make lunch for the two families. He was then stunned by the enormous size of their kitchen.
