Back to the 1980s: Transmigrated as the Bigshot's Pampered Wife
Chapter 623: If We Have a Daughter
Her life being a complete mess was one thing, but then she was personally sent to a mental asylum by Song Zijin and He Aijun.
Wasn’t that just karmic retribution?
One was Sheng Yueyue’s husband from her past life, and the other was the husband she’d snatched after being reborn.
From the moment she chose to marry Song Zijin, she had chosen a tragic marriage.
Her married life proved that abandoning her husband from her past life had only brought her even greater misery.
That’s why she kept recklessly pushing her luck, escalating her behavior until she was finally locked away in a mental asylum, never to see the light of day again.
’Sheng Yueyue probably felt some sort of relief, though. A person as extreme as her might have actually gone insane!’
"Are you me and Little Stone’s auntie? Uncle, our auntie is so pretty!" A little girl’s cheerful voice pulled Gu Jiaojiao from her thoughts.
Hearing the little girl’s voice, Gu Jiaojiao smiled and patted her on the head, saying with a grin.
"Yes, your auntie is very pretty, but our Erya is very pretty too."
"Auntie, what about Little Stone? Am I handsome too?" a little boy suddenly squeezed next to Gu Jiaojiao, looking up and asking.
Gu Jiaojiao was momentarily stunned when she saw the adorable, cherubic boy. "Our Little Stone is very handsome too," she blurted out.
She shot Su Shuochi a look that said, ’Didn’t you say his nose was always running, with two grimy trails of snot permanently hanging from his nostrils to his mouth?’
’You also said his face was covered in dark, wind-chapped patches. Why is he so cute now?!’
Su Shuochi shrugged, as if to say, ’I really don’t know. I wasn’t lying, though. He used to be that filthy.’
Gu Jiaojiao was speechless.
She pulled Little Stone into her arms and squeezed his chubby cheeks. "Little Stone, Erya, how about Auntie takes you to buy new clothes tomorrow?"
"Thank you, Auntie, but Grandpa and Grandma already bought us enough to wear." Erya smiled so wide her eyes narrowed into slits.
’Life at Grandpa’s house is just too wonderful. Not only do we get to eat meat every day, but we don’t have to work all the time either.’
’Grandpa and Grandma bought us so many new clothes, and now Auntie wants to buy more. There’s no way we could wear them all!’
Lost in her happy thoughts, Erya skipped and hopped into the kitchen to find her grandparents. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"Auntie is the best!" Little Stone cried out, throwing himself into Gu Jiaojiao’s arms and hugging her arm tightly.
"Get off her. Go sit on the sofa and watch TV." Su Shuochi grabbed him by the collar and tossed him onto the sofa.
"Okay." With his auntie right there, Little Stone had momentarily forgotten how scary his uncle could be.
"There, there. Don’t be scared." Gu Jiaojiao patted his back and shot Su Shuochi a glare.
"Auntie, Uncle, have some juice. Grandpa just squeezed this apple juice," Erya said, carrying two glasses of juice over and placing them on the coffee table.
"Mm, Erya is so thoughtful. You can even help your grandma with chores now." Gu Jiaojiao picked up the apple juice from the coffee table and took a sip.
"I’m going to help with the fire now! You two can chat, Uncle, Auntie." Erya winked at them, then skipped back into the kitchen.
"Erya is so adorable," Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but sigh. She thought of Su Ermei, a woman so disliked that even dogs seemed to avoid her.
’How did she manage to have two such lovely children?’ She glanced at the man beside her.
Although Su Shuochi didn’t understand what his wife was thinking, that didn’t stop him from being attentive. He said tenderly, "My wife is pretty cute too."
Gu Jiaojiao paused, taken aback by his praise, then teased with a smile, "That’s right. And you’re not so bad yourself."
’Actually,’ she really wanted to say, ’you’d be even cuter if you didn’t always put on such an icy front in front of others.’
"Heh." Su Shuochi let out a low chuckle at his wife’s praise, then added, "Jiaojiao, let’s go stay at the Xiangyang Street house tonight."
Gu Jiaojiao took another sip of juice. "What about Mom, Dad, and the two little ones?"
Su Shuochi glanced at her. "They can move over tomorrow. There are still some things to pack up here."
Gu Jiaojiao nodded. "Alright, then."
’Besides, she had all their quilts from the Imperial City stored in her space. She could just take them out to use tonight.’
"We’ll drive over after dinner," Su Shuochi said softly, looking at Gu Jiaojiao’s profile.
Gu Jiaojiao smiled. "You’re the boss, so you call the shots. It’s just..."
She glanced at Su Shuochi and continued, "We just got back today. Shouldn’t we spend some time chatting with Mom and Dad?"
"We can do that tomorrow. We haven’t had a chance to really talk for the past two days on the road," Su Shuochi said in a low voice.
"Okay. I want to take Erya and her brother to buy clothes tomorrow, maybe browse a big department store."
"Okay. I’m going to the factory tomorrow, so I won’t be able to go with you. I need to earn more money."
"When we have a daughter, I’ll be there to watch her grow up healthy and happy. We’ll take her traveling together, to see the ocean, to buy pretty little dresses, and to experience all sorts of new things."
"Why are you suddenly thinking so much about this?" Gu Jiaojiao asked softly. She didn’t think he was joking.
Su Shuochi leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Sheng Yueyue’s ending left me completely shaken."
"Her grandfather, parents, and two older brothers are all very cheerful people. A child raised in that kind of environment shouldn’t have turned out like that."
Gu Jiaojiao thought about how Sheng Yueyue had been reborn. ’She became like that because she was far too dependent on men.’
"Yes. When we have a daughter, we have to teach her that whenever she runs into something that makes her unhappy, she should tell us so we can help her figure out a solution."
"Running away isn’t the answer, and compromising is even worse. We have to teach her to face problems bravely and solve them."
"We have to tell our daughter that a girl can live a good life on her own, rather than trapping herself in a marriage that just looks ’passable’ to outsiders."
"She shouldn’t waste her entire life away, and she must never harm herself and others like Sheng Yueyue did."
"Right. I’ll tell my daughter when she’s grown up that if she finds love, she can boldly pursue it."
"But when a relationship turns sour, she shouldn’t wear herself down with internal turmoil. There’s a whole wide world out there for her."
"She’ll always have her parents behind her, supporting her. She’ll always have the freedom and the confidence to make her own choices. That’s why I have to work hard and earn money."
"Hahaha..." Seeing the man speak with such a dead-serious expression, Gu Jiaojiao doubled over with laughter.
"Sister-in-law, you’re back! What’s so funny?" Su Qinchun asked happily.
She had been manning a stall with Dong Qiming and his sibling, but when she heard someone say her older brother and sister-in-law were home, she came back early.
The moment she walked in, she saw her sister-in-law roaring with laughter, and on the sofa, Little Stone was clapping and grinning along. ’It really is most fun when I’m with Sister-in-law,’ she thought.
"We were talking about Sheng Yueyue. It was just too amusing, so I couldn’t help but laugh," Gu Jiaojiao said, never hiding her dislike for Sheng Yueyue.
"Oh! You probably don’t know yet, Sister-in-law, but Sheng Yueyue has really gone crazy this time. No one is framing her."
"You might not have heard, but she cornered the second son of the He Family and insisted he was her husband..."
Seeing that her sister-in-law was enjoying the story, Su Qinchun chattered on and on.
From Su Qinchun’s story, Gu Jiaojiao thought that if she didn’t know Sheng Yueyue had been reborn, she too would have thought the woman was genuinely insane.
