Beast Taming: Abyssal Descent
Chapter 579 - 414: Grey Wolf’s Discovery (Part 2)
The raging mechanical monsters, completely heedless of consequences, rushed near the mechanical platform and immediately activated various destruction modes.
The entire mechanical platform was torn into countless fragments, scattered on the ground, symbolizing their former existence.
"Tsk tsk, even after reaching the fourth and fifth layers, we haven’t obtained any valuable intelligence, but we’ve already lost nearly a hundred Tier Four Transformers.
Grey Wolf, directly send in the micro insect detectors to find out what’s inside that could possibly attract Bear Baby."
Once we find out and determine the location, we’ll decide on the next course of action."
Directly charging into the underground fifth level is clearly not feasible.
After all, within this fourth layer of the Steel Maze, the Tier Nine mechanical monsters haven’t even started moving yet.
With over a dozen of these things, wanting to pass through their turf in this not-so-large fourth layer maze is bound to trigger a fierce battle.
Now, knowing there’s some danger in the underground Steel Maze, Mo Qingchen isn’t willing to risk his Guardian Beast.
Currently, among those under his command, those capable of defeating the Tier Nine mechanical monsters are perhaps only the combined Chaos Divine Beast, Edward, and Kasi.
The underground maze is built by aliens, and this belongs to an Interstellar Civilization, making the technology of the opposition quite imaginable.
The Chaos Divine Beast, no matter how powerful it is, reaching Epic King-level when bursting, still remains a Digimon, a special electronic life form generated from countless virtual data.
Within the underground maze, the special magnetic field can implant viruses into the Transformers; clearly, this is a type of data intrusion, who knows if it might affect the underlying database of the Chaos Divine Beast.
Mo Qingchen isn’t willing to take this risk whatsoever.
As for Edward and Kasi, they are essentially Soul Bodies, albeit with special characteristics.
But the global-covering red mist can mutate any life form; it’s uncertain whether it could influence them.
Additionally, the fourth layer isn’t large, it’s relatively cramped, and battling in such a space is certainly a great limitation for Edward and Kasi.
Breaking through this level of defense in a short time seems impossible; any unforeseen circumstances can’t be predicted.
The main point is that Grey Wolf has confirmed that this underground Steel Maze is still functioning normally, and the enemy can still control the mechanical monsters within the maze.
This indicates that there might be some secret hidden in the deepest fifth level, maybe even surviving aliens!
"Boss, hold on a moment, I’ll release all the micro detectors from the ship right away."
Grey Wolf didn’t hesitate and started his operation immediately.
A large number of insect-type detectors flew out from the opened spaceship hatch underneath, swarming into the blasted channel.
These insect detectors moved extremely fast, shooting forth like lightning within the channel blasted directly to the bottom.
On the Spacecraft above, countless images appeared, all processed, leaving only useful ones visible to Mo Qingchen and the others.
Within a short ten minutes, a large number of insect detectors had sunk into the underground fourth layer.
Upon reaching here, some of the insect detectors dispersed and began surveying the fourth layer Steel Maze.
Several Tier Nine mechanical monsters appeared on the screen projection.
These mechanical monsters, each huge, are at least twenty meters tall, wrapped in metal and circuitry all over, looking particularly hideous and terrifying.
Yet, from the appearance, it’s still discernible that these mechanical monsters are modified Exotic Beasts.
Especially among them is a deformed dwarf mechanical creature that Mo Qingchen and his team are most familiar with, now magnified dozens of times.
However, currently, dozens of mechanical monsters of different species are all in a dormant state, appearing like cold metallic machines without a trace of life.
"Tsk tsk, the mechanical monsters collected here, probably aren’t modified from Exotic Beasts that mutated after the red mist descended."
Looking at the exterior, resembling a pig enlarged dozens of times, if it weren’t for the metallic shell covered in rust, Mo Qingchen would have thought it was a truly mutated wild boar.
If they ever put on faux skin, it might be hard to tell these were modified mechanical monsters.
"Boss, these mechanical monsters are all in dormancy; apart from the Energy Core inside showing energy circulation, the whole body is in stasis, without any energy flow."
Grey Wolf maneuvered some insect robots to crawl into the interiors of the mechanical monsters through metal crevices, gathering various data.
"It seems the other party can’t detect the insect robots’ intrusion, which is good news."
Nodding his head, Mo Qingchen looked at another screen, where images transmitted back by the insect robots infiltrating the fifth level could be seen.
However, the transmitted images from the fifth level showed some snowflake specks compared to the previous four layers.
"There’s a very powerful interfering magnetic field on the fifth level; the image transmission from the insect detectors has been somewhat affected."
While the images weren’t clear, occasionally snowflakes drifted through, quite a lot could still be discerned.
The entire fifth level is essentially a vast research laboratory, filled with various apparatuses, most still operational, emanating faint lights.
"Grey Wolf, look for the database, see if you can hack into it, and also watch out if there are surviving aliens."
The Secret Realm of Civilization’s Wound is actually the relic of an Interstellar-level alien civilization.
After reaching Interstellar Civilization achievements, is it really impossible for some aliens to survive?
As for the aliens on the planet supposedly abandoned by their race, it’s unlikely that all perished; there might be hidden figures watching everything covertly.
"Boss, there are no living beings detected, but several still-functioning robots have been found, their energy levels range from Tier One to Tier Three."
Insect detectors rapidly spread throughout the entire fifth level laboratory, even appearing in embedded pipelines.
"Try to have the insect detectors hack into these robots to see if their control can be gained."
Clearly, these functional robots are remnants left by the aliens.
"The hacking is underway, but will require some time, and the database has been located, under invasion, though the firewall is extremely strong."
Grey Wolf watched the rapidly scrolling data on screen, a strange expression flashed in his wolf eyes, even causing his brow to furrow.
Mo Qingchen, watching everything, immediately caught Grey Wolf’s oddity.
"Grey Wolf, what’s wrong? Did you discover any issues?"
Mo Qingchen promptly inquired.
"Boss, the invaded database is enormous, even compares to the database of the Spacecraft, and I’ve detected unidentified signals trying to intrude into the Spacecraft’s programs!"
Grey Wolf spoke as he waved his wolf claws through countless afterimages, furiously tapping on the virtual keyboard.
"Be cautious, if it becomes unaffordable, disconnect the signal immediately!"
Mo Qingchen definitely wouldn’t want any trouble, especially with the Spacecraft, a pivotal trump card of his.
Should it be controlled by the other party, then the fun would truly be over.
"Relax, boss, I’m not an amateur now! Plus, I’ve discovered some very intriguing things."
Excitement lit up Grey Wolf’s face.
With his relentless operation on the virtual keyboard, his expression grew increasingly excited.
"Hahaha... These aliens, to survive, have actually transferred their consciousness into the servers, turning themselves into electronic life forms, hahaha..."
While Grey Wolf laughed heartily, he began analyzing various data from the Electronic Life Forms captured by the Spacecraft.
Grey Wolf, in coordination with the Spacecraft’s intelligent super-program, swiftly captured over a dozen Electronic Life Forms, established electronic cages to contain them, and started extracting various data from them.
