Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Conquering the Female Mother with Delicious Food

Yu Huang didn’t notice the change in Ao Yun’s expression. She was simply stating a fact.

Yu An tugged on Yu Huang’s sleeve and coaxed, "Female Mother, I want to come with you. I also know how to cook, so I can make you all delicious food on the way."

"It’s already noon. Why don’t we rest here for a bit and eat something before we get back on the road?"

Without waiting for Yu Huang’s permission, she pulled a pot from the pile of luggage.

"Uncle, how should I address you?"

The man who had spoken up for Yu An earlier replied, "You can just call me Chu Feng, Miss."

"Uncle Chu," Yu An said with a grin, "could you please get me some water and find a few stones...?"

Chu Feng glanced at Yu Huang. Seeing that she didn’t object, he called a few other Beastmen to help him get what Yu An needed.

Yu An silently counted the number of people, then proceeded to wash the rice, chop the meat, and clean the vegetables. As soon as the makeshift stove was built, she started making congee.

A one-pot meat congee was perfect for such a large group and didn’t require much effort.

At first, Ao Yun was dismissive, thinking Yu An was just trying to show off with all these strange antics. But when the aroma of rice began to waft from the pot, she couldn’t help but sniff the air repeatedly.

’What is that? It smells amazing!’

"It smells so good! The scent is coming from that pot."

"The roasted meat is usually delicious, but why does it suddenly seem so bland now that I smell what Miss An is cooking?"

Chu Feng and the others hadn’t paid much attention to Yu An’s offer. Not wanting to go hungry, they had already started a fire and were roasting meat while she was fiddling with her strange contraptions.

Ao Yun forced a smile. "Thank you, but I’m not hungry yet."

Yu An didn’t press the issue. She could sense Ao Yun’s malice and dislike, and frankly, the feeling was mutual.

After tasting the vegetable and meat congee, Chu Feng led the charge, vehemently insisting that they bring Yu An with them.

Cooking methods on the Beast God Continent were slightly better than those on the Beastman Continent, but they were still limited to roasting or boiling meat and vegetables and sprinkling on some spices.

Compared to the congee Yu An had just made, their food was on a completely different level. There was simply no comparison!

Yu Huang was also won over. ’What a miserable life I’ve been living until now,’ she thought. So, the moment her subordinate made the suggestion, she nodded in agreement.

Yu An had just let out a cheer when she heard Yu Huang’s warning. "The journey will be arduous, and we’ll face danger. Make sure you’ve thought this through."

"I have," Yu An said without hesitation. "With Female Mother here, you definitely won’t let me get hurt. Right?"

She hugged Yu Huang’s arm so tightly that Yu Huang couldn’t pull it free. She could only snort lightly. "If there’s danger, you’d better hide."

Yu An nodded vigorously, like a chick pecking at grain. Watching her, Yu Huang felt a strange urge to pat her on the head.

’So... so cute.’

The loving scene between the "mother and daughter" stung Ao Yun’s eyes, and she clenched her fists in resentment.

’Since I can’t use Beast Father’s power to kill her, I’ll have to do it myself.’

’I have trouble just dragging it!’

Yu An nodded, her expression unfazed. "You get used to it with practice."

Ao Yun couldn’t help but sneer. ’She’s lying. There’s enough stuff there to bury her alive. How could a weak female like her possibly carry it all!’

’Anyone with half a brain wouldn’t believe her, right?’

"Oh, Miss An must have had such a hard time! Let me carry some of it!"

"I’ll take some too! With so many of us here, we shouldn’t let Miss An lift a finger."

"I’ll take some as well..."

Ao Yun: "..."

’I was wrong. Terribly wrong. A lot of people really are brainless!’

Along the way, Yu An flitted around Yu Huang like a little butterfly, chattering away with stories about her childhood—all of which, of course, were completely made up on the spot.

She also described how to make all sorts of delicacies. These weren’t made up; she was an eloquent speaker, and her descriptions were incredibly vivid.

Yu Huang’s face remained impassive, but Ao Yun knew she was listening intently.

Ao Yun walked behind them, constantly reminding herself to keep up appearances. ’At the very least, when something "happens" to Yu An, I can distance myself from it.’

It turned out that "Granny Gu" was actually "Poisonous Insect Granny." Both she and Yu Yun were members of the Invincible Alliance. The Poisonous Insect Granny was in charge of traveling to the Beastman Continent to select promising recruits for the Alliance.

"Granny will be back soon, and then Female Mother will regain her memories."

’It’s unknown whether Poisonous Insect Granny is alive or dead, but it doesn’t matter. I’ll find a way to restore Female Mother’s memories before we return to the Invincible Alliance.’

With this in mind, Yu An took out a waterskin. "Female Mother, have some water."

Yu Huang took it and had a sip. "It’s sweet?"

"Mhm," Yu An said with a nod and a smile. "I added some honey."

In reality, it was diluted Divine Spring Water. She had taken the opportunity to probe Yu Huang’s body earlier and discovered a little something left behind by the Poisonous Insect Granny.
