What Ma Shu had found were indeed soybeans. The area was so remote that no Beastmen had ever set foot there.

Here, Yu An ran into an old friend.

"MOO?"

The Wild Bull chewed on the beans, CRUNCH CRUNCH, a dumbfounded look on its face.

Yu An waved. "Hi, we meet again."

The Wild Bull silently turned its back and focused on its meal. This wasn’t its territory, so it didn’t try to chase Yu An away.

Yu An’s eyes lit up when she saw the soybeans. With a wave of her hand, she had the whole family drop what they were doing and start harvesting.

The two groups stayed in their respective areas, coexisting peacefully and not bothering each other, right up until Yu An took out lunch...

The Wild Bull went SNIFF SNIFF SNIFF, then shamelessly snatched Mo Yan’s meal.

Mo Yan: "???"

Everyone in the family, except for Lan Ying, was busy picking soybeans. Yu An also found some immature soybeans—edamame—which, after being boiled, received unanimous praise from everyone.

Lan Ying had boasted that night, and to save face, he had silently gone and procured ten carts full of river delicacies. He was so exhausted he didn’t even have the energy to think about escaping.

By the time he came to his senses, he was already on the road to Han Ling City, the chains back on his wrists.

Lan Ying looked completely dejected. After much thought, he decided he would first gain Yu An’s trust and then find an opportunity to leave.

’As for my previous plan... forget it. I have control of this body anyway. At worst, I’ll just have to spend more time suppressing Lan Yin in the future.’

The Red Fox was also with them. It had managed to land the job of a childminder, responsible for looking after the three Zaizai.

It was called childminding, but in reality, the Zaizai were the ones feeding it and brushing its fur. It was living a sweet, cushy life.

Entering Han Ling City required paying a city entry fee, and once inside, they had to pay a hefty residence fee. Yu An handed over the required Gold and silver coins without a second thought.

The city wasn’t exactly bustling, at least not compared to the Imperial City, but there were still plenty of merchants lining the roads.

Yu An took a quick look around. Most of them were selling Beast Skins and meat; there were very few types of vegetables.

Since their group was large, their first order of business was to buy a house.

Most Beastmen living outside the city resided in caves, while those inside lived in houses made of wood and stone.

Yu An was a generous spender, so she quickly found a suitable house.

The house was huge, with enough rooms for everyone to have their own. Yu An chose a room in the center. The room to her left would house Da Hu and the other two Zaizai, leaving only one other adjacent room.

Mo Yan and Ao Wu exchanged a glance. The alliance they had formed just a few days ago instantly shattered. The two began to fight over the room in the way of males.

Yep, they had a brawl.

Feng Xuan looked at them with disdain. "What’s there to fight over? It’s just a room."

It was just a little closer to Yu An. He couldn’t understand what was so great about her that they would fight for her favor like this.

’She’s just a little smarter, a little prettier, a little cuter... What’s the big deal!’

"Little brother," Da Hu sighed, "we should find ourselves a new Beast Father soon. Otherwise, our Female Mother might decide our Beast Father is an outsider, and if she kicks him out, we’ll be left without one."

Xiao Yu tilted his head. "Big brother, I like Beast Father Mo Yan."

"Okay, Han Li Beast Father isn’t bad either. I’ll go talk to them later."

Feng Xuan: "..."

’Me, me, me! I’m the Zaizai’s biological father! I was Yu An’s first male! How am I an outsider?!’

Yu An paid no mind to their petty squabbles. After withdrawing money from the Ping’an Gold Bank in the city, she began to train frantically.

Entering the city meant entering Lord Han’s territory. Relying on others was always undependable at times; it was better to have her own strength.

Young cubs awaken their spiritual power at the age of three, after which they are guided by their Beast Father to control and use it. Da Hu and Xiao Hu weren’t of age yet, but they could already use it vaguely. The last time they used their tiger’s roar to stun Kong Qingqing and the others, they had inadvertently used their spiritual power.

Feng Xuan determined that they possessed Heavenly Level Spiritual Power and planned to start teaching them the next day.

The Merfolk valued Talent Abilities more, so Lan Ying volunteered to teach Xiao Yu how to master his.

Yu An had told them not to disturb her beforehand. By the time she finished her training, the sky had already grown dark.

She checked the time. There were still two hours until the next day. Once midnight struck, she would find out her next sales task.

She was a little hungry. Rubbing her belly, she decided to go to the kitchen to make something to eat.

The original house didn’t have a kitchen, so Yu An had taken out her cooking utensils and had Mo Yan and the others convert a spare room into one.

A Fluorite stone lit up the kitchen. She looked around, very satisfied with the work they had done.

She had some noodles prepared in her space, so Yu An planned to make a simple bowl for herself.

Just as she lit the fire, the kitchen door was pushed open.

Mo Yan and Ao Wu hadn’t dared to fight too harshly, lest it interfere with the next day’s work. After their brawl, Ao Wu narrowly won and smugly claimed the room next to Yu An’s.

While they were fighting, Feng Xuan and Lan Ying had also chosen their rooms. Left with no other choice, Mo Yan had to settle for the room next to the kitchen, the furthest from Yu An.

But looking at it now, it didn’t seem so tragic after all.

"Hungry?"

Mo Yan took the noodles from her hand and had her wait to the side. "I’ll do it. How about some plain noodle soup?"

Yu An sat on a small stool, resting her chin in her hands. "Okay! I want two eggs in it."

Mo Yan nodded with a smile. He put the noodles in once the water boiled, prepared the sauce while they cooked, and soon, a steaming hot bowl of plain noodle soup was placed in front of Yu An.

Yu An took a small sip of the broth and gave him a thumbs-up.

Mo Yan’s lips curved into a slight smile as he sat across the table, watching her eat.

The bowl of hot noodles warmed her entire body. Just as she was about to say goodnight to Mo Yan and go back to sleep, he took her hand. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"An’an, can you come to my room?"

His tone was plaintive. "We haven’t been alone together for so long."

Before, it was just Ao Wu competing with him. Now that they were in Han Ling City, there was no telling when Han Li would show up.

Yu An also had to get busy setting up her stall. Her time was already limited, and the portion she could give him would be even smaller.

"How about next time?" Yu An refused instinctively. "I’m tired, I don’t really want to..."

She knew Mo Yan’s stamina all too well. If they messed around all night, she wouldn’t even be able to get out of bed tomorrow, let alone prepare ingredients for her stall.

"We’ll just sleep. Nothing else."

Mo Yan nuzzled her neck and said softly, "I know you’re tired. I won’t bother you."

Yu An hadn’t been idle these past few days, and she was pregnant with a Zaizai. His heart ached for her; how could he possibly think about that sort of thing?

"Alright then," Yu An said, holding out her arms. "Carry me over. The weather is getting warmer anyway, and your body is nice and cool. You’re perfect for cuddling to sleep."

Mo Yan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "What about in the winter? Will you not want me then?"

Yu An coughed. "Well, your body isn’t always cool. I’ll just wait until you’re warmed up to cuddle."

She wasn’t one to make herself uncomfortable.

Her human-shaped pillow was indeed comfortable. Yu An had been thinking of staying up until midnight to see the next task before sleeping, but listening to the nameless little tune Mo Yan was humming, she drifted off without realizing it.

When she woke up again, the sky was already bright.

She had slept very comfortably. Yu An groggily opened her eyes and discovered that her hand had, at some point, slipped inside Mo Yan’s clothes, and one of her legs was draped over him.

Feeling the firm, supple skin under her hand, she didn’t have time to pull back before Mo Yan opened his eyes.

His gaze was deep and intense. "An’an, you’re not tired or sleepy now, are you?"
