Beast World Food Stall: Feeding My Cubs and Taming My Beast Husbands
Chapter 77: Mo Yan and Mo Yan
Yu An’s hands were nimble. She quickly packed the barbecue and handed it to Housekeeper Han. As he took it, a flash of green shot past.
"Take care, and come back again if you enjoyed it!"
Yu An was exceptionally enthusiastic.
Housekeeper Han waved, picked up his pace, and vanished in a flash.
’The City Lord is out on business. I have to hurry and enjoy this delicacy all by myself!’
The second customer was a bit hesitant when ordering. Yu An glanced over and saw that she had never seen him before.
His eyes fell on the vegetarian skewers, and he hesitated. "Boss Yu, what is this? I’ve never seen it before."
"Oh, right. I’m the housekeeper for the Su Family. Yesterday, my Family Head smelled the barbecue, but it was too crowded, and we couldn’t buy any. He specifically instructed me to come line up early today."
"So you’re Housekeeper Su," Yu An said, beginning her introduction. "These are potatoes and shiitake mushrooms. When grilled, the potatoes become golden and crispy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside. The mushrooms are incredibly juicy—even better than meat."
Housekeeper Su hesitated for a moment before deciding to buy one of each to try.
Yu An found this Housekeeper Su to be quite talkative. He kept going on about the Su Family’s status in Han Ling City, his words hinting at a desire to hire her for a high salary as the Su Family Head’s exclusive chef.
"Boss Yu, my Family Head said you can name any price you want."
When Yu An acted as if she hadn’t understood, remaining completely unfazed, Housekeeper Su grew impatient.
But before Yu An could speak, the Beastman behind Housekeeper Su was the one who couldn’t hold back.
"Housekeeper Su, how can the Su Family do this? Boss Yu’s delicious food belongs to all of us! What gives you the right to monopolize her!"
"Yeah, that’s right! You can’t do that."
"..."
Amidst the wave of complaints from the crowd, which included more than a few people from powerful families, Housekeeper Su couldn’t say much. It was no surprise his expression had soured.
Yu An spoke up at the right moment. "Thank you for your kind offer, Housekeeper Su. It’s just that my goal isn’t to make money, but to let everyone have a chance to taste good food."
"Here you go. There’s free boiled edamame and ice-cold beer over there. Feng Xuan, pack two extra portions for Housekeeper Su."
Only then did Housekeeper Su notice Feng Xuan helping out at the side. Surprise flashed in his eyes.
He recognized Feng Xuan. ’The dignified Clan Leader of the Tiger Clan is actually here selling food, and as an assistant to a female, no less.’ He instantly guessed Yu An’s identity.
’But isn’t Princess Yu An supposed to be hideously ugly and completely lacking in Fertility?’
Housekeeper Su’s gaze swept over the three little ones beside the cart, and he grew even more shocked.
’Considering the timing... could it be that Princess Yu An gave birth to three Zaizai in a single litter?!’
’No wonder the Family Head wanted him to find a way to bring Yu An back to their estate. It just seems like trying to entice her with money isn’t going to work.’
Housekeeper Su couldn’t think of a plan for the moment. Facing the disgruntled stares from the people behind him, he had no choice but to leave for now.
This little episode didn’t affect the crowd. The aroma of barbecue wafted through the streets and alleys, awakening the hunger of every passerby. But one look at the seemingly endless line and they could only walk away in disappointment.
Hu Hui Lan had learned her lesson from yesterday and came to line up much earlier. Even so, she and her Beast Husbands were still more than fifty places back in line.
However, their Zaizai, Lu Xi, had been taken away by Da Hu and got to eat the delicious barbecue before them.
"Sigh," Hu Hui Lan lamented. "This is the first time I’ve ever been jealous of our own Zaizai!"
Lu Xiang comforted her, "It’ll be our turn soon. Look on the bright side—at least it’s better than yesterday. We didn’t even get to buy any then."
"Female Master, why don’t we just talk to pass the time? It’ll go by..."
Hu Hui Lan and the other Beast Husbands looked horrified and shouted in unison, "Shut up! Don’t you say another word!" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Lu Xiang: "..."
They weren’t the only ones dying from their barbecue cravings. At the very, very back of the line was Mo Yan.
She was pouting, a gloomy look on her face.
"There are so many people... Will we even be able to buy any barbecue today?"
After eating the barbecue yesterday, Mo Yan couldn’t stomach any other food. All she could think about was coming back to buy more.
Han Fengyun didn’t want her to go out, saying she might run into bad people. Mo Yan had to psych herself up for a long time before she finally left the house with Han Li.
Han Li seemed a bit listless. The Maid beside them tried to comfort Mo Yan. "Madam, don’t worry. Why don’t we head back first and leave someone here to wait in line? They can bring it back to you as soon as they buy it."
The Maid kept glancing around, terrified that the City Lord would suddenly appear. The City Lord had given them a strict order: the Madam was not allowed to leave the house.
The Maid had thought that since the City Lord was traveling far away today, just buying something quickly shouldn’t be a problem. They’d be back in a little while. Thinking she could get away with it, she had come out with Mo Yan.
But looking at the long line, the Maid felt a sense of despair.
Mo Yan hesitated for a moment. "W-well, alright. Let’s go back first."
The Maid let out a huge sigh of relief. She left one person to wait in their spot and was just about to leave when a female walking home with her barbecue kindly reminded them, "Is this your first time here? You might as well give up. Boss Yu only sells a limited amount each day. Once she hits a certain number of customers, you can’t buy any more."
"Then what about them..."
The Maid pointed at the people beyond the supposed cutoff point. "Why are they still in line?"
"It’s a gamble," the female said casually. "They’re betting that someone might give up their spot, giving them a chance."
"But look around. Do you think anyone is going to give up that chance?"
The people who came to buy barbecue weren’t short on money. How could a small favor possibly sway them?
Seeing that Mo Yan was on the verge of tears, the Maid quickly said to the female, "Miss, would you be willing to sell your barbecue to me? I’ll pay one hundred gold coins!"
It wasn’t her own money she was spending, so the Maid announced the price without a second thought.
The female’s refusal caught in her throat. She had waited in line for so long to buy this barbecue, but if she could sell it for one hundred gold coins...
"Deal!"
Both parties were extremely satisfied with the transaction.
The onlooking Beastmen had thought of following her example, but when they saw the Maid casually offer up one hundred gold coins, they immediately gave up the idea.
’Beast God above, they simply didn’t have that kind of money!’
Mo Yan’s face lit up with a smile, and she pulled on Han Li’s hand, ready to go home.
She pulled, but he didn’t budge.
"Li’er, why aren’t you moving?"
Han Li was staring intently at the very front of the line, his mouth opening and closing as if he were trying to say something, but Mo Yan couldn’t hear him clearly.
He took a step forward. Mo Yan didn’t know what he was trying to do, but to her, nothing in the world was more important than her own Zaizai.
"Li’er, do you want to go to the front? Female Mother will go with you."
The Maid said anxiously, "Madam, we should be getting back..."
Mo Yan was no longer as agreeable as before. Her face hardened as she said, "We’re not going home. Li’er wants to go over there."
The Maid was helpless and could only follow them.
The Beastmen were all queuing in an orderly fashion, so it wasn’t difficult to get through. Mo Yan was patrolling the line. As Mo Yan and her son walked along the other side of the queue, they happened to brush right past him.
Mo Yan glanced over casually, and his steps came to a sudden halt.
’That person is...’
He hurriedly turned back, wanting to get a clear look at the person he’d just seen. But by the time he excused himself and crossed to the other side of the line, Mo Yan had already walked some distance away.
Mo Yan stared blankly at her retreating back. It took him a long moment to come to his senses and give chase.
Han Li was moving so quickly that Mo Yan had to break into a trot to keep up. She was incredibly curious about what at the front of the line had captured his attention.
But before they could reach the front, a familiar-looking male blocked their path.
