Beast World Food Stall: Feeding My Cubs and Taming My Beast Husbands
Chapter 83: An’an, How Am I Worse Than Them?
’Hmm, they look similar, but it can’t be the same person.’
After all, he saw that portrait over a decade ago. Back then, Yu An was just a child.
Housekeeper Han figured that Yu An and the person in the portrait had to be related somehow, especially since the Su Family Master was so tense about the painting.
He had to find an opportunity to persuade the City Lord not to make a move on Yu An.
Even if it was just for the sake of the delicious barbecue, he had to keep Yu An alive!
The familiar, fragrant aroma of barbecue wafted through the air, making even the passing dogs dizzy with delight.
Yu An sold her last skewer of barbecue, but Han Fengyun still hadn’t shown up.
"Are they coming or not?"
Ao Wu had been cracking his knuckles in anticipation for ages, hoping some troublemakers would show up so he could stretch his limbs.
"Maybe you scared them off," Yu An said casually. "Stop posturing and come help pack up."
"Coming, coming."
After they got home, a division of Lu Lu that had been left there reported that someone had secretly broken in. The intruder had searched every room but hadn’t stolen a thing.
"A thief who doesn’t steal? Never seen one of those before."
Lu Lu found it very strange. Of course, it was a good thing the intruder hadn’t stolen anything, or they never would have been able to leave.
No one could have guessed that every single plant in the yard and the house was a "monitor," allowing Yu An to observe what was happening at home at any time.
"It must be Han Fengyun’s people," Yu An said, pulling Han Li off of her and setting him on the table. "They were probably looking for Mo Yan’s aunt and the others."
Mo Yan stood behind Yu An, massaging her shoulders. "But they’ll never guess where she is now."
They all knew where Yu An had sent her—into the pocket dimension. That was the one place Han Fengyun would never think to look, no matter how hard he tried.
"Han Fengyun didn’t come after me, likely because he’s afraid of offending you all. As long as he can’t find her, he should give up."
’Few people know about the aunt’s existence,’ Yu An mused, ’so Han Fengyun has to search for her in secret. But Han Li is a different story.’
Everyone in Han Ling City recognized him, and plenty of people had seen him go home with her yesterday. That was why she wasn’t hiding him today.
If Han Fengyun decided to take Han Li back, she probably had no right to refuse.
The thing was, Han Li wasn’t Han Fengyun’s biological son. He was the child of Han Fengyun’s older brother and Mo Yan. According to the maid, Mo Wei, Han Fengyun had always wanted to kill Han Li. He only spared the boy’s life because Mo Yan had threatened to kill herself.
Mo Wei had been reluctant to reveal this secret, afraid that Han Li would seek revenge for his biological father if he found out. But after Yu An brought her and Mo Yan into the pocket dimension, she had a sudden change of heart.
Yu An was clearly not someone to be trifled with, and she had four Beast Husbands who were either powerful themselves or had powerful backers. Mo Wei felt that Han Li was practically family to them now, and if a fight were to break out, their chances of winning were high.
"So, is this thing ever going to wake up?"
Ao Wu prodded Han Li with a branch, but he didn’t move an inch.
"I’ve never witnessed Han Fengyun’s hypnotism firsthand, but I’ve seen members of the Merfolk Clan awaken a similar Talent Ability."
Today, Lan Yin was in control of their body. Seeing Yu An again after so long, he felt a little awkward. He kept his distance, staying the farthest away from her, but his eyes never left her.
Yu An’s interest was piqued. "Then do you know how to break the hypnosis?"
Under her gaze, Lan Yin instinctively looked away. "Once the hypnosis ends, the person will recover. It’s just that their spiritual power will be affected to some extent. The shorter the duration of the hypnosis, the less the impact."
"From the state Han Li’s in, he must have been hypnotized many times. His spiritual power is severely damaged, and he can’t handle the slightest stimulation, which is why he reverted to his beast form and fell into a coma."
"As for when he’ll wake up... I don’t know either."
A flicker of disappointment crossed Yu An’s eyes. Lan Yin saw it and lowered his head, lost in thought. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
But Yu An was only disheartened for a moment before she quickly pulled herself together.
Her superpower had restored even Mo Yan’s spiritual power; it was practically a panacea. It could definitely wake Han Li. Her Level probably just wasn’t high enough yet.
She’d just have to get more Gold Coins, raise her superpower’s Level, and then she could treat Han Li.
At this thought, Yu An turned her gaze to Feng Xuan and Lan Yin. "How many Gold Coins can you two withdraw right now? I need to borrow some."
Feng Xuan was the first to reply. "The Jade Pendant I carry with me can still withdraw another million Gold Coins, but the Ping’an Gold Bank here in Han Ling City is just a branch office. They might not be able to dispense that much."
Lan Yin added, "Feng Xuan is right, An’an. Are you in a rush? If not, I can send a message to my clan and have them withdraw money from Gold Shops in various cities and deliver it here."
’That would take forever!’
Besides, after she finished cultivating, she’d just have them deposit all the Gold Coins back again. It was too much of a fuss.
Yu An refused.
Disappointment flashed in Lan Yin’s eyes, and the hand hidden inside his sleeve clenched into a tight fist.
’Did she dislike his suggestion, or does she dislike... me?’
’That makes sense. I refused to leave earlier, and it caused Yu An to suffer that pointless disaster. It’s only natural that she would hate me for it.’
For a moment, Lan Yin’s mind was a chaotic mess. If he weren’t forcing himself to stand his ground, he would have undoubtedly turned and fled.
"Let’s leave it for now. I’m not in a huge rush to upgrade my superpower; what I have now is good enough."
Yu An glanced at Red Fox playing with Zaizai, then changed the subject. "Since everyone’s here, I want to confirm something. You guys really aren’t planning on leaving?"
"What I mean is, if any of you want to leave, I can break the contract and let you go. Especially you, Feng Xuan."
Before she could even finish, Feng Xuan’s body went rigid.
Ao Wu was the first to speak up. "An’an, I’m not going anywhere! We just... last night... and now you’re trying to kick me out?"
"I’m not leaving either," Mo Yan said earnestly. "An’an, home is wherever you and Zaizai are."
Feng Xuan and Lan Yin said nothing, but their gazes said it all.
Han Li couldn’t speak and wasn’t officially her Beast Husband yet, so Yu An set him aside for the time being.
"Alright," she said softly. "In that case, I’m making a schedule for all of you. It starts tomorrow. This should stop you from fighting all the time."
It would be a seven-day rotation. Starting with Mo Yan, followed by Han Li, Feng Xuan, Lan Yin, Ao Wu, and Lan Ying. She would rest on the final day.
Everyone agreed to the arrangement, except for Ao Wu.
"Why does he get two days?" Ao Wu asked resentfully.
"Because Lan Yin and Lan Ying are two different people," Yu An said, casually patting the little dragon’s head. "If you can conjure up another soul for your body, I’ll give you two days as well."
Ao Wu thought about it and decided against it. ’If I had another soul in my body, how much less time would I get to spend with An’an?’
Once that was settled, Yu An sent them off to do their own things. She had been meaning to talk to Lan Yin, but Feng Xuan stopped her.
"Yu An, can we talk?"
Feng Xuan’s gaze was insistent as he waited for her answer.
Yu An hesitated for a moment before saying gently, "How about we talk tomorrow? I have something I need to do."
"Are you going to see Lan Yin?"
Feng Xuan took a step forward, his tall frame nearly enveloping her.
"Please, talk to me first?"
His voice was low, almost a plea, tinged with a hint of desperation.
"Why? Why did you single me out, An’an? How am I any worse than them?"
