Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead
Chapter 654 - 302: Upper Hook and Fruit_3
She reached out and effortlessly pierced through the armor made of Condensing Void into Reality, grabbing Amber by the neck.
"Are you trying to drag more people down as nourishment for your success?"
Wu Chang watched the rooftop monster in astonishment. He could feel that the armor forged by Condensing Void into Reality wasn't pierced by Power but simply failed to obstruct the rooftop monster.
Because in the judgment of the armor, the rooftop monster was seen as part of Amber.
"Let me go!" Amber struggled desperately, trying to break free from the monster's grip, but she was only elementary school-sized, unable to contend with her adult self.
The rooftop monster allowed Amber's struggles. It snapped its fingers, and the thick vines, once afraid of the Cross, began pressing towards Grace and Mark.
"This time, to live more freely, you want to discard some unnecessary things by using their deaths."
"What else can you abandon? If you are just an empty shell, that would be too meaningless."
"Let me see, ah, you've encountered quite a lot recently. Sean, Erin—they feel annoying, don't they? You must be unable to stand them, right? Let me get rid of them for you."
Upon mentioning Sean and Erin, Amber's emotions flared up. She gripped the rooftop monster's hand tightly, astonishingly fracturing its wrist.
Amber took the opportunity to break free from the rooftop monster's control, shouting like a cat with its fur standing on end:
"Don't you dare mention them!"
The rooftop monster looked at its dangling wrist with a mocking expression.
"I don't want to. What can you do to me? Although you remember nothing now, your subconscious will surely remind you of the consequences if you hurt me."
"Those memories, do you dare to face them?"
Amber was hit in her sore spot, her momentum deflating entirely.
The rooftop monster approached Amber triumphantly, "I knew it, you're still..."
Before the rooftop monster could finish, Amber suddenly exploded with an upper hook punch.
This punch looked very familiar to Wu Chang.
Amber and Grace had watched Sean's practice footage before sneaking off to a bare-knuckle match at Grace's home.
This upper hook punch was Sean's signature skill, precisely threading through gaps in the guard to strike an opponent's chin.
Using this now, Amber miraculously delivered a perfect punch, hitting the monster's chin and making its head lurch backward.
"Monster! I promised Sean to be home before dark; nothing is more important than our promise!"
The rooftop monster's head snapped back to its normal position, its earlier composure replaced by frantic anger.
"How dare you punch me?"
"Do you think I'm just a trash bin you can discard at will? Dream on if you want everything for yourself!"
"I've made up my mind; you're all going to die today!"
The rooftop monster's face contorted, transforming from Amber's to a blank, faceless appearance.
This was its true form—the No-Face Ghost of the old school building.
The No-Face Ghost, showing its true shape, charged at Amber, leaving her momentarily clueless on how to respond. At this moment, someone seized her hand from behind.
She turned around to see Sean standing there.
Wu Chang whispered in Amber's ear, "Don't get distracted. This is your fight, and in combat, never turn your back to your enemy."
Upon hearing this, Amber turned to face the No-Face Ghost.
She expected the ghost to be upon her already, but discovered it moved through the air, as if in slow motion.
"Skill Name: Space Folding."
"Skill Description: You have touched upon the essence of spatial manipulation, allowing you to freely alter an object's spatial position by stretching and folding space. Usage Range: 100 meters; Maximum Folded Space: 10 meters; Cooldown Time: dependent on skill usage, at least 15 seconds."
"Note: When performed in the Inner World, Space Folding receives an enhancement from High-Efficient Space Utilization."
The eerie space generated from Amber's Heart Demon was considered the Inner World, and although not created by Wu Chang, the distorted spatial Rules triggered his High-Efficient Space Utilization's enhancement to Space Folding.
Wu Chang inserted a stretched space between the No-Face Ghost and Amber, extending a space 100 meters long, greatly lengthening what would have been an instantaneous attack.
The stretched space was a Special Space created by Wu Chang; the No-Face Ghost lacked Spatial Ability and could not escape it.
Meaning, until it leapt out of the stretched space, it remained suspended in the air.
Wu Chang did not explain to Amber what was happening, instead continuing to instruct:
"I saw that last punch, good job, but the technique for exerting force isn't enough, only using your arm strength, not mobilizing your entire body's power."
He stood behind Amber, guiding her in person.
"Now listen to my command: step, press down, twist your waist, send your shoulder—yes, very well."
Under Wu Chang's hands-on guidance, Amber delivered another upper hook punch. At the moment the punch was thrown, Wu Chang released the stretched space, the flying No-Face Ghost crashing right into Amber's upper hook punch.
Amber's punch didn't carry much strength, but Wu Chang's fist wrapped around hers.
Sparks of Celestial Thunder flickered from Wu Chang's fist.
Punching endless mushroom men to bits wasn't possible, but can you shatter a vine spirit?
The flashing electric light melted the No-Face Ghost's head, the remaining Celestial Thunder not losing momentum, shooting straight to the sky.
After flying tens of meters, it erupted in a thunderous roar in the sky.
Amber slowly drew back her fist, incredulously staring at the No-Face Ghost that shattered like ashes, "Did I throw that punch?"
Wu Chang nodded, "Yes, it was you."
Amber gasped in surprise, then reached out and tugged hard on Wu Chang's cheek.
Wu Chang winced and batted away Amber's hand, "What are you doing?"
Amber blinked, "Sean, are you real? I just thought seeing you was an illusion!"
Wu Chang rubbed his cheek, disgruntled, "If you suspect it's an illusion, why not pinch your own cheek."
Amber: "It hurts."
Wu Chang: "..."
Heh, my daughter sure is sharp.
Amber murmured, "You appeared so suddenly, plus that monster freezing mid-air—I thought all that happened in a flash was just a hallucination in my mind."
Remembering something, Amber asked softly, "Sean, how did you end up here?"
Wu Chang smirked and said, "Came to call you for dinner, it's almost dark and you haven't come back, so of course I'd go out to find you."
Amber curiously asked, "How did you find this place?"
Wu Chang seriously replied, "Instinct."
Amber: "Huh?"
Wu Chang: "My instinct told me you were reaching out, and following that instinct, I found you."
Amber clenched her fists, fear in her voice as she asked, "Sean, will you always help me with anything?"
Wu Chang nodded, "Of course."
Amber, head lowered, said, "If I made a mistake, a big one, and sincerely repented, could you forgive me?"
Wu Chang calmly said, "I can't promise in advance whether I'll forgive you."
Seeing Amber's spirits fall, he continued:
"I haven't finished speaking. I may not be certain if I'll forgive you, but we are family. When facing problems, it's not about who forgives whom but about solving them together."
Hearing Wu Chang's words, Amber seemed confident again. Her eyes firmed as she said:
"Sean, before leaving, there's something I must do. If I don't, that monster will eventually revive."
Amber turned over the ash-like vines, finding a fresh crimson fruit the size of a Cherry Tomato, similar to the one that spawned the No-Face Ghost.
Determined, she closed her eyes, consuming the fruit.
