Tianshui Sect was on fire!

Correctly speaking, the entire Wuxiang realm was ablaze.

Chen Chang’an’s entry into the Great Scholar realm in just six steps was unprecedented, with no one before him and none to follow!

Shock, awe, causing a great upheaval in heaven and earth!

No one in the entire Wuxiang realm, no beings, could have predicted that in today’s world, where the teaching of Confucian path is incomplete, a young boy emerged as a Great Scholar!

What a grand era, what a grand era this is indeed!

However, some people did not believe this.

Within the endless cosmos, several supreme beings turned their gazes towards Tianshui.

As they stared at the grand illusion from afar, they murmured:

"Impossible, impossible,"

"The teachings of the Confucian Saint are severed. Other than the Confucian Temple in the Central Continent, how can anyone else in this world reach the state of Great Scholar?"

"We don’t know, but there is no disputing the fact that we are in a grand era."

After that voice, another person began to murmur.

"Up until now, aside from the Ten Saints, dozens of uniquely talented cultivators have announced their debut."

"Buddhism, Sword Gate, Immortal Sect, Divine Sect, Divine Dynasty, Forbidden Lands and the like, all have had unknown individuals from all sects entering this grand era which makes it quite strange!"

"At this time, when a uniquely talented individual from the Confucian path becomes a Great Scholar, it is not really hard to understand."

After this being finished speaking, a sudden silence fell upon heaven and earth.

As if these words had provided complete clarity.

"Your words certainly do not present a problem, but it seems you’ve overlooked one issue."

"This Great Scholar that has emerged is not from the Confucian Path."

"..."

Silence fell on the place once again.

All the powerful ones did not speak.

In their hearts, perhaps they might be pondering over something.

But without exception, their gaze towards the distant figure on the horizon,

Filled with intense curiosity.

Central Continent, Saint State.

At the highest part of a towering pavilion, two figures clad in Confucian robes stood there.

They looked at the horizon with solemn expressions.

The identities of these two were none other than the two Saints of the current Confucian Academy,

The two heads of Jixia Academy, the Saints Wen Yuan and Wen Xuan.

Both were mighty peak cultivators of the Eighth Stage.

Although they followed different masters, according to seniority, they were both descendants of Confucian Saint Wen Zhai.

This is why they usually address each other as brothers.

Among them, Wen Yuan was the younger brother and Wen Xuan was the elder.

"Elder brother, has it been confirmed that a Great Scholar has indeed emerged?"

Wen Yuan asked.

"Yes, his Literary Qi vast as oceans, unending; he indeed corresponds to us, the Great Scholars."

Wen Xuan nodded.

Upon hearing this, Wen Yuan felt a burst of joy.

"Elder brother, have you seen it clearly? Is this person from our Jixia Academy?"

"No."

The Scholarly Saint Wen Xuan shook his head.

He then sighed and said:

"He is not from Jixia Academy, I did not sense any aura from our Jixia Academy on him."

"No, he’s not from Jixia Academy?!"

Upon hearing these words, Wen Yuan was shocked.

He then asked his question: "Elder brother, if he is not from Jixia Academy, then how could he reach the realm of Great Scholar?"

"Is there something wrong with this?"

Hearing Wen Yuan’s words, Scholarly Saint Wen Xuan shook his head:

"There’s nothing wrong with this."

"There are many paths to cultivate Confucianism, not just our Jixia Academy’s."

"In the past, Confucianism was not one of the established paths in the world. It was Confucius who travelled everywhere, visited different parts of the world."

"To enlighten others with his personal experiences, to study all books, to understand all the truths of life. Once enlightenment was achieved, Confucianism, as we know it today, came about."

"Chen Changan may have been an ordinary person before, but he has spent more than a decade alone in an isolated mountain, reading various books."

"Ten years of reading has fostered in him a Heavenly Aura."

"Now, when the opportunity presented itself, he attained enlightenment and stepped into the realm of the Great Scholars, there is nothing impossible about this!"

Upon hearing this, Wen Yuan immediately nodded in agreement.

He then turned his gaze towards the distant Tianshui Sect.

Both of his eyes were filled with bitterness.

Wen Yuan could not understand why such a gifted Confucian was not from his Confucian sect.

If he was from his Confucian sect, Wen Yuan was sure, that it wouldn’t take long for another Confucian saint to emerge from his path of Confucianism.

No, maybe even a Confucian saint on the Ninth Stage!

But unfortunately, all of that was not possible anymore.

"Younger brother, don’t overthink it and just manage our affairs."

"I believe that the Supreme Saint Confucius’s spirit in heaven will protect us."

Wen Xuan understood Wen Yuan’s thoughts, but a sigh was all he could give.

He had always been working towards the prosperity of the Confucian Path, but he felt very hopeless about their current situation.

In this world, Confucianism could be considered as the most special of all cultivations.

It might be stated that it’s not powerful, but it possesses the most powerful killing ability.

A well-written poem could define the sun and moon; a single character could contain rivers and mountains!

One person’s debut could stabilise a nation and establish empires, or remove external invaders and internal rebels!

When it came to battle strength, Confucianism deserved to be the strongest.

However, if it ever was stated it was powerful, it would be not.

The Confucian saint was once one of the Ten Saints.

Even among the Ten Saints, the battle strength of the Confucian Saint ranked highly.

A single character could summon the sun and moon, and go against nature!

In this world, often just one Great Scholar could determine the rise and fall of hundreds of dynasties!

However, Confucianism had a major drawback.

That was, Confucianism would only cultivate Heavenly Aura and not cultivate Dao or cultivate laws.

It could strengthen the laws, but not strengthen life span!

Even with a Great Scholar, the lifespan would not exceed a few centuries at most, not unlike ordinary people.

Only stepping into the Eighth Stage and planting the scholarly seeds, becoming a saint,

This would grant a lifespan of tens of thousands of years.

Is tens of thousands of years a long time?

It might seem like a long time compared to ordinary people, but compared to those of the same stage, capable of standing against eternity, it seems laughable.

And this was the highest lifespan that a follower of Confucianism could achieve, other than the Confucian saint.

The rest, even a Scholar on the Seventh Stage, did not have much lifespan to speak of.

Although a scholar in the Seventh Stage could also be called a scholar, only one character separates him from a saint.

However, the gap between the two can be described as night and day.

The Eight Stage Saint can live for tens of thousands of years, whereas the maximum lifespan of a Seventh Stage scholar does not exceed 300 years.

How long is 500 years? To an ordinary person, it may seem like a long time, but to a cultivator, it is just a flash.

Not to mention that the scholars who reach the Seventh Stage are at least over a hundred years old.

They are left with barely two hundred years.

The duration of two hundred years, to cultivate from a scholar to a saint, is fundamentally impossible.

One can talk about Seventh Stage scholars, let alone Sixth Stage great scholars.

Therefore, over the innumerable years, it is not that the Confucian sect did not produce any Great scholars.

But they perished either in the Great Scholar stage, or got stuck on the path to becoming a scholar.

Even though they could feel the teachings of the Supreme Sage, without any time to patronize, everything seemed illusory.

For this reason, the emergence of Chen Chang’an was so touching to the two people.

This person, if he does not fall, in the future, will definitely become an exceptional Confucian sage!
