Becoming The Strongest Using My Would-You-Rather System! - Chapter 98 - Big Enemies
Theo sat in his training room, completely alone.
’What do I do?’ he thought, glancing at the ground. ’To think Sophia was using that...’
The day after the incident with her, he’d asked Elise about it in training.
But her response opened up another can of problems for him.
...
’’Describe it again,’’ Elise said, narrowing her eyes slightly.
Theo nodded, leaning back slightly.
’’It felt like... something was hitting my head,’’ he said slowly. ’’Not physically, but... inside.’’
He paused for a moment, pointing at the back of his skull.
’’It gave off loud thuds each time and gave me a headache too...’’
Elise didn’t interrupt him.
Yet, her cold expression slowly changed to something darker.
’’And when she spoke... it got worse,’’ he continued. ’’Especially when she leaned close to me.’’
As he finished, the room fell silent.
Elise stared at him with cold, narrowed eyes.
’’You used lightning to push it out, correct?’’
Theo nodded.
’’Yeah,’’ he replied. ’’I just pushed it towards the source, which finally stopped it.’’
Elise studied him for a few seconds longer.
Then, she turned slightly, walking a few steps away.
’’You did the right thing,’’ she said.
Theo frowned faintly.
’’So... what was it?’’
Elise stopped walking.
For a moment, she didn’t answer.
’’A spell from the Psychic element,’’ she finally said. ’’Charm, suggestion... or something similar.’’
Theo’s eyes narrowed immediately.
’’So she was trying to control me?’’
’’Very likely,’’ she responded coldly.
A chill ran down Theo’s spine.
’What if she’d succeeded?’
He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.
’’I’ll be taking this incident to the university’s board,’’ Elise continued, her gaze sharp.
’’A student using a Psychic spell on another student without consent... is not something they can ignore.’’
Theo’s head snapped up immediately.
His eyes widened slightly.
’’But isn’t that troublesome?’’ he asked. ’’She’s from the Whitmore family after all.’’
Elise just looked at him for a moment.
Finally, she responded.
’’That is not your concern... nor should it be.’’
Theo fell silent, before nodding once.
’’Stay away from her in the meantime,’’ she added. ’’And try to buy yourself an item against such tricks.’’
...
Back in the present, he couldn’t help but let out a deep sigh.
’’Buy an item she said...’’ he muttered. ’’With what money should I do that?’’
A half-decent item that could block the Psychic element starts at twenty million dollars.
He couldn’t even afford ten percent of that!
After glancing at the time, Theo pushed himself off the ground again.
’Best I can do is train my spells for now—’
He glanced up at a transparent screen above him.
’And pray I get something from the system.’

Swiping the interface away again, he let out a quiet breath.
Theo calmly raised his hand.
In front of him stood several dummies.
Lightning began to crackle from his palms.
Then—
A single medium-sized beam shot out. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
It soared through the air in an instant.
CRACKLE!
The lightning collided with the first dummy.
Next second, it left the first target again, chaining straight towards the second and third dummies.
’Good,’ he thought, nodding. ’I’ve mastered the Chain Lightning spell completely now.’
He narrowed his eyes slightly.
’But that only makes one out of two lightning spells I bought.’
The other one... wasn’t as easy.
It had been by far the most expensive spell he’d bought, costing him nearly a million dollars.
Theo slowly exhaled, lowering his hand.
’Lightning Step...’
His gaze shifted forward, locking onto the far wall of the training room.
’Short distance burst movement using lightning... sounds simple.’
But in reality—
It wasn’t.
He closed his eyes for a moment, feeling the lightning crawl into his calves and feet.
They immediately began to glow in a yellow light, even crackling faintly.
’’Kgh,’’ Theo let out through gritted teeth.
A sharp pain shot through his legs.
The lightning wasn’t just a large burden on his legs, it felt like it was tearing through his muscles from the inside.
Theo’s body trembled slightly.
’Too much...’
His muscles spasmed faintly as the lightning surged again, far more violent than before.
’My body can’t handle it yet...’
He clenched his fists tightly, forcing the lightning to disperse before it caused real damage.
The glow around his legs faded, leaving behind a faint tingling pain.
Theo opened his eyes slowly, exhaling through his nose.
’’I got closer this time,’’ he muttered. ’’If my body adapts just a little bit more, I might be able to use it properly tomorrow.’’
He continued training, pouring lightning mana into his legs over and over again.
Only as he felt a dull ache in his core did he come to a stop.
’’That’s enough for today,’’ he muttered.
He’d made the progress he’d wanted to make today.
And that was enough.
He glanced up again.
[Would You Rather Cooldown: 00:02:21:08]
His eyes narrowed slightly.
’’Still too long...’’
Clicking his tongue softly, Theo stepped back and dropped onto the ground again, leaning against the wall.
The room fell silent again.
His gaze slowly drifted to the ceiling.
’The Whitmores...’ he thought. ’Who would’ve known they were such a crazy large family.’
At first, he’d thought they were just in Santa Barbara.
But now, after hearing that there’s a main family...
He’d found out that the Whitmores in his city were only the tip of the iceberg.
’They are everywhere across America,’ he thought, narrowing his eyes. ’Tons of cities have some sort of branch family like David’s in them.’
And then there’s the main family...
According to Elise, they guard one of the five S-rank dungeons in the country.
’But all of that information is being kept under wraps for national security reasons, of course.’
Theo let out a quiet breath and glanced up at the ceiling.
’And somehow... I ended up offending them.’
First David.
Now Sophia.
He’d injured and humiliated both of them.
Not to mention, he was planning something far worse in just two days.
’’Yeah...’’ he muttered, letting out a chuckle. ’’I definitely made an enemy.’’
His eyes slowly closed.
’’And a big one at that.’’
