Chapter 307: Assessment ranking

Alex froze after hearing this and just stared at Femi. He quickly recovered from his shock however and slowly sat down.

"Seems we’ll have to set this matter for a later date," he said slowly.

Femi nodded in understanding, Mr Chen must have other urgent things to take care of at the moment.

"Then it’s settled, we’ll go to the special zone when you come next. In the meantime, how about I show you around before you return to your continent?" Femi offered.

"There’s still another thing I want to ask about," Alex announced.

"Oh, what’s that?" Femi asked while tilting his head slightly.

"The Void eye, do you know where I can find one?" Alex asked.

Femi showed a thoughtful expression after hearing Alex’s question as if he was thinking about something. His expression brightened after a few seconds and he looked at Alex.

"Yes, I do. The third continent has a record of being the only continent with the most frequently appearing cracks and the mages there are somehow able to predict when a crack will appear.

You can go there and enter a crack to find the Void eye. Aside from that, a Saint in the third continent used to own one. You can go see President Shin and he’ll help you ask around." Femi suggested.

Mentioning President Shin, Alex remembered the President of the Union HQ from the third continent who had introduced himself as Shin Lu; they had also met during the joint operation.

A grin couldn’t help but form on Alex’s face as he thought of the fellow.

"Thank you, I’ll make sure to pay him a visit." He said, still grinning underneath his mask.

Femi felt that something was wrong but couldn’t tell what it was, he decided to forget about it and proceeded to show Mr Chen around the place.

.....

Alex spent the rest of the day moving around the city where the HQ of the first continent was located with Femi as his personal tour guide.

He saw the various Magic Universities, explorer group buildings, and residences of the various big families. Not to mention that the city was several times bigger than Brandvel, it was no wonder that his mage sense couldn’t cover everywhere.

Alex once again felt very small and had only seen a small part of this world that he transmigrated into, this was the same feeling that he had when he first arrived at Brandvel City.

The next day, Alex used the teleportation formation located on the top floor of the Union HQ building to return to the sixth continent.

Femi had personally seen him off and only left after the light of the formation disappeared.

Arriving inside the Union Core Center building of Mash country, Alex saw that Maria was already waiting for him there.

"Welcome back, Mr Chen," Maria said with a smile after seeing Alex.

Alex nodded back in response without saying anything and walked toward Maria.

"How was your trip, did you get what you were looking for?" Maria asked as they made their way through the hallway.

"Not yet, but I know where to find them now," Alex replied while observing the place.

’This building is truly very small compared to the HQ yesterday,’ he said in his thoughts.

"That’s good, I’m glad that the Union was able to be of help to you," Maria said with a relieved sigh.

Again, Alex didn’t reply and just kept walking.

"What do you plan to do now?" Maria asked.

Alex paused at this moment, he suddenly realised that he had a lot of beast corpses stored away. He had been farming exp points for quite a while now without selling them.

At this point, he was honestly contemplating whether there was still any need for him to be doing that. He had so much money and didn’t know what to spend it on currently.

"I want to exchange beast corpses and mana cores," Alex said to Maria.

He decided to stop storing corpses of magic beasts for the time being when he went out to farm exp points.

"Okay, follow me," Maria said excitedly.

Several minutes later, Alex received a union card with his payment for the beast corpses and mana cores and left the Union Core Center.

After leaving the Union building, returned to his apartment. He washed up and changed into fresh clothes before heading back to the Union Core Center building.

He wanted to accept a mission as explorer Alex, after all, he needed to keep his second explorer identity consistent by accepting missions once in a while.

Alex accepted a mission after some time, it was a mission to capture a common rank magic beast alive. The reward was little but Alex didn’t care about it, he just wanted to have something in his record as an explorer.

He left the Union building shortly after with a special storage bag that could store magic beasts. It didn’t take long for him to locate the beast and capture it after knocking it unconscious, he had to control his strength to avoid killing it by mistake.

After capturing the beast, Alex proceeded to farm exp points a bit before returning to Brandvel to turn in his mission.

He returned to his apartment after getting his reward and called it a day.

The next day, it was finally time to return to the Magic University. The results of their final assessment were going to be announced today, and they would know who passed to become second year student and those who were going to be expelled.

Alex got ready very early and made his way to the university on his magic scooter. He arrived not long after and passed through the gates along with a bunch of other students.

Alex already contacted Eric before coming and the boy was waiting for him outside the orientation hall. They met up and exchanged some words before going in together.

"Do you still think you’ll come in first place this time? The assessment was pretty intense." Eric asked Alex with a teasing smirk on his face.

Alex smirked back and glanced at the kid.

"What do you think?" He asked back.

"Let’s make a bet, you’ll do anything I say if you come in first place again and I’ll do anything you say if someone else comes in first place," Eric said mischievously.

Alex "..."

Whom was this kid trying to scam?

"I refuse," Alex stated without a second thought.

"Hehehe," Eric chuckled after getting caught.

At this point, all the first-year students had gathered and the instructors were already standing in front of the hall.

Not all of the instructors were here, only five of them had come for the results announcement.

Amongst the five instructors were instructor Henry and instructor Bree whom Alex was very familiar with.

Instructor Bree even glanced at Alex and gave him a warm smile.

They soon started. One of the other three instructors stepped forward and gave the usual speech, encouraging those who would pass to continue to work harder while comforting those who wouldn’t make it.

He assured them that learning didn’t only take place in the university and they could learn a lot outside as well and become great mages.

"Before the ranking is revealed, I’d like to inform you all about the special condition for becoming second-year students.

After today, those who manage to pass will be allowed a holiday period which will last for six months!

Meaning that for the next six months, you don’t need to attend lectures and can do whatever you want, outside the university of course."

Everyone "..."
