Chapter 129: Keep Me Company

Without hesitation, Kyle downed the alcohol, finishing half the glass in his hand. The teachers cheered, as if they had finally accepted him among them, continuing to chat and share stories.

Meanwhile, Arcane, who was there, immediately noticed the language teacher, who looked like he was about to collapse.

’He really drank it? Stupid and reckless. If that’s the case, who is he going to bother?’ thought Arcane.

Kyle’s eyes were half open, and he tried to stay conscious. Even though his head felt so heavy and his body felt hot.

Donald was the first to notice this, and he whispered to his son sitting next to him. Like the others, all he knew was that his son was close to Kyle.

"Arcane, it looks like he’s already drunk even though he only drank half a glass. Should you check on him?" Donald whispered to him.

"That’s just a normal reaction when someone hasn’t had alcohol before. Besides, it was his own choice to do it," Arcane replied as he drank his glass.

Meanwhile, Kyle himself did feel his head getting so heavy and he was having a hard time opening his eyes. He felt a sense of regret inside him for following what they had said.

Even though he knew he couldn’t keep refusing their requests, because that was what made them not so close to him. Especially since Arcane didn’t stop him, and the man didn’t seem to care much about his current situation.

’Why is Arcane just standing there? He usually always does something to protect me. Like when he stopped me from drinking alcohol back then,’ Kyle thought at that moment.

As the night grew late, the other teachers began to get drunk and one by one left the pub. Now only Arcane, Donald, and Kyle remained. Donald intended to take his son home with him.

However, Kyle, who was drunk and asleep at the table, had no idea who would take him home.

"It looks like he’s fast asleep too. We can’t leave him here," said the middle aged man to Arcane.

"But I don’t know where he lives. Does you know, father?"

Donald nodded his head. He had indeed taken Kyle home a few times before. Knowing this, Arcane could only nod his head to help Donald take Kyle home.

Moreover, he couldn’t ask the elderly father to carry Kyle’s body. So Arcane had no choice but to do it himself, carrying him to his father’s car in the parking lot.

They headed to the man’s house, which turned out to be only 15 minutes away from where they had been drinking. It was a fairly large house, but it looked simple despite having two floors from the outside.

"I’ll wait outside. You go inside and take him to his room," said the principal, who at that moment had no intention of asking his son to do so.

Because from the beginning, he didn’t know about Arcane’s concerns or the man’s dislike of Kyle. He always saw the two of them getting along well, unaware of the tension between Julian and Arcane because of the language teacher.

"Okay." Without saying anything else, Arcane looked for the door key in Kyle’s bag and found it.

He opened the door to the house and walked inside carefully because he was carrying someone on his back. As soon as he turned on the lights, he didn’t see anyone in the house because Ethan, Kyle’s husband, was working the night shift.

As soon as he stepped inside, he went straight to Kyle’s room on the second floor. There, he took off his shoes and laid Kyle’s body on the bed.

His green eyes scanned the room, focusing on the wedding photo of Ethan and Kyle. It looked like an ordinary wedding photo, except there were no smiles on their faces.

It was clear that their marriage wasn’t what they had hoped for.

"He once said that the marriage was an arrangement between his mother and Ethan because she felt that the man was capable of protecting him." Arcane muttered softly as he folded his arms across his chest.

His eyes returned to Kyle’s innocent face, but it turned out that he was carrying a heavy burden, as his marriage was completely unhappy. Arcane could feel the loneliness in that house, so empty and cold.

However, this was none of his business, and he intended to leave immediately. Especially since his father was already waiting in the car and it was very late at night. He didn’t want to stay in that house too long.

Just as he was about to turn on his heel and leave the room, he heard Kyle calling his name.

"Arcane... Mnn... Arcane..." His voice was so soft and quiet, as if he didn’t want to be left alone. Begging him to stay.

"Don’t go... I don’t want to... Be alone... Don’t leave me too..."

For a moment, the red-haired man was silent and turned to look at him over his shoulder. Even though Kyle’s voice sounded so sad and he didn’t want Arcane to leave, he still ignored him.

"I’m only here to take you home. I’m doing it because my father asked me to, not because I want to do it for you."

With such a cold tone, he immediately walked out of the room, leaving Kyle, who was still drunk, alone in bed.

As soon as he got back to his father’s car, he suddenly heard a phone ringing, but it wasn’t coming from Donald’s cell phone or his own.

"That’s not my ringtone. Then whose is it?" Donald looked around and found a cell phone on the back seat.

It turned out that Kyle’s cell phone had been left there, probably falling out of his pocket when he was sitting down.

"Someone is calling that phone. We’d better answer it first and tell them that Kyle is drunk right now," he said.

Taking the phone, Arcane found out that the person calling the phone was someone whose photo he had just seen in his coworker’s room.

"Who called him?"

Turning to his father, Arcane answered the question.

"His husband, Ethan."
