Minjae’s POV

Yah. It’s time to come home.

Don’t do something that will leave you with bloated tummy and aching thighs.

I send a text to my best friend with a mischievous smile on my face, he has been keeping me updated, but I keep teasing him.

He texts back and I chuckle under my breath, he is easy to mess with, maybe that’s why that mafia fool likes him.

Stay safe, Seo-ya.

I say and he sends a heart emoji, and I leave the texting app for the call app, letting my thumb hover over a number I didn’t save but memorized.

The last four days have been crazy, but I fit right in with the mess, maybe I am supposed to be a hot mafia husband, but here I am pregnant for a stupid police boyfriend...

Ex-boyfriend? I can’t even tell, he didn’t officially end it with me, he just bailed.

Daeshin made a mess on my floor, but I cleaned it all up and managed to get all the information I needed from him.

A slap with my slipper for a second of silence, it was fun until I had to untie him and send him away.

I sent him off because I thought of my pup’s father; what if Seungmin came home? What do I tell him about the beat-up man in our home?

After I let Daeshin go on the second night, I felt alone, but not completely alone...I knew someone has been watching me.

And that someone keeps sending food up to my apartment.

Stupid, handsome, irritating mafia hunk.

"You know, you are doing a bad job stalking me, right?" I say into my phone when I finally make the call.

"I’m not stalking you" the response comes back to me and I hiss at him, "come upstairs" I snap and I hear his sigh.

"It’s better if I keep my distance" he says.

"So you’re stalking" I conclude and the man sighs again like he’s having a tiring day, it feels heavier than it should.

Is he watching me so that I don’t spill mafia secret?

"Hey, I would never tell anyone about your mafia business, especially not when my best friend is involved" I tell him, lowering myself to sit on my ugly sofa.

"I know" he says.

"Then stop stalking me and go home" I say and he sighs again, "come here" I add firmly before ending the call. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

It doesn’t take long before I hear a knock on my door, it’s quiet and polite, as if he doesn’t want me to hear it.

This motherfucker.

"Really?" I mutter to myself, maybe he wants me to miss his knocks and then he’d have an excuse not to come.

I storm to the door, arms folded and tongue ready to lash at the man, but when I open the door, everything changes.

He looks like he hasn’t slept for a long time, and his short hair has grown a bit, and the eyebags under his eyes are disturbing.

"Did you cry?" I ask and he doesn’t react, he just comes in.

He feels dark, but not dark enough that I should feel scared, but I place my hand over my baby bump and step back.

"Are you okay?" I ask the man quietly, watching how he’s just standing there, hands by his side and head down,

"How much do you know?" he asks darkly.

"Enough. I think you might need to get Daeshin before he spills to someone else" I say and rub at my stomach.

The beta’s eyes drop to my stomach, following the movement with his eyes, he looks terrible.

"Junho" I say his name and he looks up.

"What’s wrong?" I ask.

"He’s going to kill Yuki" he says and turns his back to me, trying to hide his face from me, but I follow him.

"Yuki? The...uh...the other assistant?" I ask.

"Yes" he whispers without questioning how I know. Really, Daeshin didn’t hold back any information, he told me everything.

Even how he was involved in Seoha’s family betraying him, he was the one that got them to sell all his inheritance to that...Lord Kang? Boss Kang?

"She betrayed Taesan" I say what I know and the tall man in my house looks even more devastated.

"Its...Sooin would have gotten hurt" he says and shuts his eyes, "and Seoha would have been hurt too"

"Well they aren’t, and your dickhead boss is already dealing with it, why are you beating yourself up?" I ask in confusion and he looks at me with pain.

"Because it’s my fault, I told Yuki everything happening..."

"Hey" I whisper, standing on my tiptoes to pull him by the back of his head, forcing him down and pressing his nose into my neck.

I know he might not be able to smell my pheromones, but his biology will respond.

I also know this position is uncomfortable, but I hold him like that, keeping him still.

"And so? She was a part of your pack, you wouldn’t have guessed that she was a betrayer" I say and he starts to cry.

A full-grown man in black suit, a gun, and height that can swallow me up is crying on my shoulder.

"She was...I was falling in love with her, I told her everything because I thought..."

"She betrayed you worse" I state.

"I could have lost Sooin, that little girl would have been hurt because of me"

"But she’s not" I insist.

"Damn it" he says and pulls away from the hug.

I’m still mad at him for being the righthand man of the terrifying captain, for not breaking Seoha out, and for existing.

But I take his hand and lead him to my small bedroom.

The man let me pull him, just following me without putting up a fight, and I make him stand in front of my bed.

"Stay still" I mutter as I start to take off his jacket and he frown at me in confusion, "don’t get it twisted, I have a boyfriend" I lie.

"Oh..." he says in a disappointed tone.

"Take it off and get some sleep, you need it, you look like shit" I say and he nods.

"Don’t worry about Daeshin, he won’t ever bother you or Seoha" he mutters as he climbs into my bed.

As he falls asleep, I realize that I might have a thing for take care of someone other than me...a thing for taking care of him maybe.

"He’s in love with Yuki and you still have boyfriend, don’t be greedy" I say to myself and return to the living room.

I have a box of pizza somewhere.
