Chapter 294: I Am Dead Redemption
"Wait, Leon isn’t even his real name?"
Rook asked with a look of surprise.
"It must be, right? He has only been referred to as Leon. By the media, by the Internet, even his parents call him that."
Raizen said.
Everyone looked at Leon. His face was flushed. In both anger and embarrassment.
"True, his name these days is Leon D. Hart, but only because he had it legally changed. His parents still have their old last name, so it wasn’t too hard to find out his real name.
"Leon’s real name is Robert Wiggins."
Hermes said with a chuckle.
"Pfft, Robert Wiggins? Hahahaha!"
Kerr roared in laughter.
Hearing that laugh, Leon looked so angry that one would assume that steam would soon rise out of his ears.
"You’re dying for that."
He said coldly, and then—with Godspeed—he shrunk the distance between him and Kerr in an instant.
Before Kerr could even retrieve his bow, Leon’s sword was already coming for his head. He was going for an Instant Kill.
"White Chains!"
Beautiful white chains came out of Hermes’ fingers, and they wrapped around Leon’s white katana’s blade, stopping it just inches away from Kerr’s neck.
"Tch!"
Leon clicked his tongue in anger.
"Damn!"
Kerr jumped backwards, then retrieved his crossbow from the inventory and perched himself on a nearby rock.
Which gave him a better vantage point to strike back at Leon.
Swoosh~! In that moment, one of Rasmus’ blood arrows came for him, but he then shot his own arrow and directly hit the blood arrow mid-air with a swift and precise shot.
The two arrows collided in a shower of sparks, canceling each other out.
"Hehe, you really want to fight, Rasmus? It won’t end well for you!"
Kerr said with a laugh.
With a cold look of a killer, Rasmus looked unamused, and he just put another one of his blood arrows on the bowstring.
"I think we should take a pause. This is escalating unnecessarily quickly. I think we should discuss this matter more thoroughly!"
Hermes shouted.
"...Talk? What more is there to talk about?
Leon asked coldly.
"You really want to fight to the death here?"
Hermes asked.
"..."
Leon narrowed his eyes.
When comparing Raizen’s team with his own, he had actually quite a disadvantage because his teammates were Seonwoo, Rasmus, and Lock.
They were the three weakest members of the Dead Redemption.
"Hmph!"
Leon ripped through Leon’s white chains and jumped backwards, landing back next to Rasmus and Seonwoo.
"I think we should call it a day. The fighting ends here. If we fight here till only one is left standing, it doesn’t benefit anyone."
Hermes said.
"Haha, just end it here? After I was betrayed? No, absolutely not. These two bastards must pay with their lives!"
Leon roared.
"You will have your opportunity another day. From this day onwards, Dead Redemption is disbanded."
Hermes spoke.
It earned a surprised reaction from everyone, but they all already knew that this was most likely it—the end of their partnership.
"...The end? Who are you to decide that?"
Leon asked.
"Look around you. They all have already made their decision to go on their separate paths after all of this is over.
"Even those that are currently standing beside you."
Hermes said.
With a frown, Leon glanced at Rasmus and Lock and noticed them averting their gaze, clearly indicating that they were also planning to leave once this was over.
"They all want to be the one to reach the top of the tower first. They don’t want to help you anymore. They are in it for themselves now."
Hermes said with a smile.
"...You guys ruined a good thing. I did a lot for you guys. You earned immense wealth, fame, and power because of me.
"And this is how you’re repaying me? Ungrateful bastards."
Leon growled in anger.
"Come on, Robert..."
Hermes said.
"Don’t call me that! My name is Leon!"
Leon shouted angrily.
"Hehe... None of us could’ve achieved what we did alone. Neither could you. We all worked together.
"Nobody did more than others. We all contributed equally to the success."
Hermes said.
"Shut the hell up, Hermes. I am Dead Redemption. We are what we are because of me. Not you, not Raizen, not Rook, all of this is because of me!"
Leon screamed.
"...Whatever you say, Robert. I say we all go our separate ways now. From this day onwards, we’re all competitors."
Hermes said with a smile.
"...Hmph."
Xiao Yue just shook her head, stood up, and started walking away. Everyone watched her retreating back.
"Where are you going, Yue?"
Aria asked.
"Leaving. Dead Redemption is over. I will be linking up with my family. We have a tower to conquer, after all."
Xiao Yue said coldly, and then, she was already gone out of the view, and Leon was honestly sad to see her go.
"I guess I will also be taking my leave. Goodbye, you losers!"
Kerr waved his hand nonchalantly as he walked away, and then he grabbed a Tower Pearl from his inventory and destroyed it.
The purple mist took him away.
"...I am sorry, Leon."
Rasmus said, then he grabbed his Tower Pearl and also destroyed it—immediately, he was also gone.
"...Tch."
Leon clicked his tongue and then glared at Lock, who had been staying quiet all this time, which was very uncharacteristic of him.
Lock had always been the chirpy and loud kind of a kid, but now he had been really quiet, as if his parents were the ones arguing and he was just trying to blend into the background.
"What about you, Lock? Are you leaving too?"
Leon asked coldly.
"...Dead Redemption is over, man. I got some friends over on the 20th floor. I guess I will just go play with them and see what happens next."
Lock said.
"Dead Redemption is not over, you idiot. I am Dead Redemption. It exists as long as I am alive, and I won’t let it die!"
Leon screamed angrily.
"...Whatever, man. Good luck with that."
Lock shook his head, grabbed his Tower Pearl, and also destroyed it, which took him away from the dark forest.
"It was fun, guys... while it lasted."
Aria said, with some sadness in her tone, and then she also disappeared with the help of the Tower Pearl.
"Well, what’re you guys planning to do?"
Hermes turned to Rook and Raizen.
"...Aren’t you sure we shouldn’t just kill Leon right here and now? Rasmus and Lock already left. It’s just him with Seonwoo."
Rook said.
"Another day, Rook. Another day. This is over now. I won’t let this fight go any longer. Trust me, it’s better this way."
Hermes said.
"...Fine."
Rook sighed.
"I am going to the 27th floor. I got some family there. Start a guild, I guess."
Raizen said.
"Good luck with that. I am also starting a guild. Next time we meet, don’t act like a stranger. We’ll be rivals then."
Hermes said with a smile.
Then, all three took their Tower Pearls from their inventory and destroyed them at the exact same time.
They all disappeared, leaving only Leon and Seonwoo there alone.
"..."
Leon coldly turned around and started heading back for their "Reward Lodge," as he didn’t plan to go anywhere from the 57th floor.
With Dead Redemption reduced to only him, he had to do some new recruiting.
’The next people I recruit will be completely loyal to me. There will be no room for betrayal this time. If I even get a hunch that somebody might stab me in the back, I’ll do the first move!’
He thought with a cold look.
"L-Leon... Can I come with you? Y-You’re still my leader, no matter what."
Seonwoo Kim said shyly, and with some nervousness.
She was hoping that Leon didn’t think that she was untrustworthy now after everybody else left him.
"..."
Leon looked at her, and then he smiled and nodded.
"Sure, Seonwoo... You can come with me."
Seonwoo smiled happily.
"There is one thing I need to do first, though. You can go ahead and head to the lodge. I’ll be there right away."
Leon said.
"...Is it something you need help with?"
Seonwoo asked.
"No, I can do it myself. Go on."
Leon said.
Seonwoo nodded, and then she used both Skydance and Godspeed and disappeared into the forest.
She was really quick for someone of her size, but still, she had always been the slowest member of Dead Redemption.
’You guys really think you can go back to normal life after trying to kill me? Haha, I have more power than just the physical kind.
’I have my fans. My viewers. Millions of them, who’ll believe everything I say. I’ll make you all look like the villains.’
Leon thought with a smirk, and then he pulled out his streaming camera and made it hover in front of his face.
Then.
He added some light here and there so it wouldn’t be completely pitch-black, and then he cleared his throat.
"Start the stream."
Leon said with a smirk.
