Chapter 603: Chapter 604: Gifts

That was who Adriana was. And honestly, he loved her for it.

Eugene watched him and laughed quietly.

’You’ll understand today,’ he thought. ’What it means to be fooled by appearances.’

Meanwhile, Adriana stepped into the trial room.

One by one, she tried on the dresses.

Her thoughts drifted. She now knew. About the money. The accounts.

The millions quietly accumulating under her name.

Just recently, she had pretended to discover it in front of Aurora, acting surprised.

Instead of stopping her, Aurora had encouraged her.

’If even she thinks it’s fine... then I don’t need to hold back,’ Adriana thought.

Now, standing there, adjusting the hem of a dress, she felt a new kind of freedom.

She could buy what she liked. Without hesitation. Without guilt.

After trying several outfits, she finally selected five.

Satisfied, she stepped out.

"How do these look?" she asked, turning slightly.

Peter’s face lit up instantly.

"You look amazing," he said, his voice genuine, his eyes soft with admiration.

When it was finally time to check out, the cashier neatly folded the dresses, the crisp fabric brushing softly against the counter as the total appeared on the screen.

Peter instinctively reached for his wallet, his fingers already sliding into his pocket.

But before he could even take it out... Adriana had already lifted her phone.

A faint glow lit up her face as she scanned the QR code, and within seconds, a sharp beep confirmed the payment.

"It’s done," she said casually, lowering her phone as if nothing unusual had happened.

For a moment, silence.

Eugene stared at her. Peter stared at her.

Both of them looked as if they had just witnessed something unexpected.

’She didn’t even hesitate...’ Peter thought, blinking in surprise.

Eugene’s eyes narrowed slightly.

’Interesting...’ he mused.

Adriana, however, seemed completely unfazed. She turned toward Peter, her expression relaxed.

"So," she said lightly, "do you want to buy something too? Which brand are you thinking of today?"

Peter scratched the back of his neck awkwardly, letting out a small sigh.

"I was thinking maybe something casual..."

"Wicked."

Eugene’s voice was calm but deliberate.

Peter froze.

His head snapped toward Eugene, his eyes widening in disbelief.

"Are you serious?" he blurted out, his voice dropping. "Wicked?"

His heart skipped a beat.

’Does he even realize what he’s saying?’ Peter thought, a cold unease creeping into his chest.

A single suit from that brand... even the most basic one... costs nearly a hundred thousand dollars.

And the high-end pieces? They could easily reach into the millions.

Peter’s gaze hardened as he looked at Eugene. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

’He’s doing this on purpose...’

Meanwhile, Eugene’s attention remained fixed on Adriana.

He watched her closely, waiting. Waiting for her expression to crack. Waiting for hesitation. Waiting for discomfort

But Adriana didn’t even look at him.

Instead, she turned toward Peter, her eyes calm yet serious.

"Is that what you want?" she asked.

Her voice was steady.

"I’m not here to listen to strangers," she added quietly. "I’d rather hear what you want."

Peter opened his mouth, but words stuck in his throat.

Before he could speak... Eugene cut in again.

"You can’t back out now," he said smoothly. "A bet is a bet."

Peter clenched his fists slightly. A flicker of conflict passed through his eyes.

’What am I doing...?’ he thought.

Still...

"...Fine," he said reluctantly, though guilt had already begun to settle heavily in his chest.

Without another word, Adriana turned and began walking.

Her steps were steady and confident.

She led them toward the Wicked store. Suits were displayed like pieces of art.

Each one immaculate. Peter swallowed while Eugene watched carefully.

Adriana walked forward, her gaze sweeping across the collection.

Even when she saw the price tags, millions, she didn’t even blink.

Instead, she turned toward Peter with a soft smile.

"Do you see anything you like?" she asked.

Peter forced a laugh, waving his hand quickly.

"No, no... nothing in particular," he said. "I’m good."

His voice sounded lighter than he felt. Eugene stepped forward.

His eyes landed on a particular suit. He reached out, lightly touching the fabric before speaking.

"This one," he said, his tone casual. "Isn’t this the suit you liked before? The one you couldn’t buy because of money?"

Peter stiffened. ’He’s pushing this too far...’

Adriana followed his gaze, her eyes landing on the suit.

The price was $9 million. For a brief second, she was about to respond, but then her phone buzzed.

She glanced down, the screen lit up, and then a smile slowly spread across her lips.

"$20 million credited."

A dividend. Another one. At this point, it didn’t even surprise her anymore.

’Again...’ she thought calmly.

These notifications had become routine.

Every single day, money flowed into her account.

Ten million. Twenty million. Sometimes even more.

Within just a month, she had accumulated over two hundred million dollars.

And now... standing in front of a nine-million-dollar suit...she felt nothing.

"That one?" she said softly, looking at Peter.

Peter’s anger flared as he shouted, "Stop! I don’t want this bet anymore!"

Hearing his words, Adriana was taken aback, her brows knitting together in confusion as she looked at him.

’What bet...?’

Peter, however, wasn’t looking at her.

His gaze was locked onto Eugene, sharp and burning with restrained fury.

"How dare you... How dare you keep on humiliating her right in front of me?"

The thought echoed in his mind as his chest rose and fell with suppressed anger. It had already crossed the line.

He turned to Adriana, the anger in his expression softening into guilt, and spoke in a low but firm voice, "I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have agreed to this bet in the first place."

Without hesitation, he told her everything... the bet, Eugene’s intentions, and the absurdity of the entire situation.

As she listened, Adriana slowly exhaled, a quiet sigh of relief escaping her lips.

At least Peter hadn’t intended to go through with it just for something so ridiculous.

A faint warmth settled in her chest, though a trace of irritation still lingered.

Her gaze shifted toward Eugene, turning slightly colder. She gave him a measured once-over before calmly asking, "But is it true that he liked this suit?"

Before Peter could respond, Eugene stepped in, his tone composed but carrying a subtle edge.

"As much as it may seem like this was all for a bet, that isn’t entirely true. Peter did like this suit. He simply didn’t buy it before... for his own reasons. Now that it’s available again, he would definitely want it."

Adriana paused for a moment, then gave a small nod. Turning toward the nearby salesperson, she said plainly, "Pack it up."

Eugene blinked, visibly taken aback as he stared at her. "How do you even have that kind of money? Do you realize this suit costs nearly nine million dollars?"

Adriana let out a soft laugh, the sound light yet laced with confidence.

She tilted her head slightly and replied, "So what? As long as my boyfriend likes it and I can afford it, that’s enough."

She paused for a brief second, her lips curling into a playful yet sharp smile. "You don’t think I’m some kind of gold digger, do you?"

The moment those words left her mouth, Eugene’s face turned pale. ’...I did think that.’

He couldn’t deny it, and the realization made his expression stiffen.

Adriana slowly circled around, her heels making soft clicking sounds against the polished floor before she stopped beside Peter. She looked up at him and asked, "What do you think?"

Peter’s expression remained calm, almost amused, as he replied, "If you were a gold digger, that would actually be better. At least I’d have gold worth digging."

He shook his head lightly, a trace of mock regret in his tone. "Unfortunately, you aren’t one."

Adriana blinked, slightly amused by his response.

Peter continued, his voice carrying a hint of teasing warmth, "If she can go as far as buying an entire hotel under my name, then I can confidently say she’s not a gold digger... she’s more like a sugar mommy."

He ended with a faint, flattering smile directed at her.

The salesperson nearby couldn’t help but give Peter a strange look, clearly unsure how to react, but Peter ignored it completely. Right now, the only people who mattered to him were Adriana and Eugene.

Eugene, on the other hand, stood frozen, his eyes widening in disbelief as he stared at Adriana. "An... entire hotel? In his name?"

Adriana herself was equally stunned. ’A hotel? When did I ever do that?’

She turned toward Peter, confusion written all over her face.

Peter chuckled softly, pulling out his phone before showing her a document. "After I got into a relationship with you, this was gifted to me by Ms. Dawn as a relationship present."

He scrolled slightly and added, "She even promised that after our marriage, she’d gift us half of the Richardson family. So I am the golddigger."
