Bound to the eldritch Sea: SSS-Tier Navigator
Chapter 22: Upper-Tier Talent
[At the same time, World Chat, Zone Chat, and Private Chat are now open. Survivors can spend Ghost Banknotes to buy channel data.]
[Also, the Trading feature is open. Survivors can pay Ghost Banknotes to barter items. The Terrifying Sea will offer you a 24-hour delivery service. Those who maliciously return items or sell fakes will face the curse of this sea.]
As the notification sound faded, Kevin’s vision was instantly flooded with a wall of messages.
"Let me go back! This world is too scary. I want to return to my original world!"
"Who can give me a loaf of bread? I’ll trade a condom for it."
"Ugh, I’m so pitiful. I’m just a young girl. Why was I sent to a ship full of men? They don’t wear condoms..."
"Girl above me, be glad! I’m a grown man, and my ship is also full of men. They don’t wear condoms either. You think you have it worse than me?"
"Everyone calm down. One message on the World channel costs 5 Ghost Banknotes. Can you share some useful info?"
"I got a double kill and rolled a baseball bat and a glove. What the hell, this is C-Tier gear?"
"I got a five kill. My loot is just as bad as yours. But I pulled a C-Tier Transformation Potion. Drink it to turn into a werewolf for thirty minutes. Not bad, right?"
"Anyway, where did that hundred-kill player come from last night? He’s too scary. One guy killed a hundred monsters. Is he even human? Monsters should scream in fear just seeing him!"
Kevin stared at the chat channel in front of him and sat up quickly from the bed.
He opened his system space, which was already piled high with various rewards.
[Name: Kevin]
[Ghost Banknotes: 433,600]
[System Backpack: 2L Fresh Water, 1 Loaf of Bread, 1 Box of Condoms, 5kg Iron, 10kg Wood...]
[System Chests: 1x C-Tier Random Supply Chest, 1x C-Tier Random Equipment Chest, 1x C-Tier Random Weapon Chest, 1x B-Tier Random Eldritch Artifact Chest, 1x S-Tier Random Talent Chest...]
[Notice 1: After opening a System Chest, the reward items will materialize in reality and will not be stored in the System Backpack.]
[Notice 2: Once items are taken out of the System Backpack, they will instantly materialize in reality and cannot be put back in.]
...
At that moment, Luna, lying next to Kevin, also let out a sharp cry.
She wrapped her arm around Kevin’s, her eyes full of excitement. "Kevin, you are amazing! That hundred-kill was you, right? No wonder you fought so hard to hunt Eldritch Entities yesterday. Did you already know there would be rewards?"
Kevin smiled and nodded. "Of course. You forgot that my Talent is Daily Intel."
Kevin didn’t mind his companions knowing his strength. After all, the stronger he was, the more loyal they would be to him.
But Kevin couldn’t reveal his identity as a reborn person, as it would ruin his revenge plan.
So Kevin decided to attribute all his strange foreknowledge to the Daily Intel ability.
Seeing Kevin openly admit it, Luna felt deeply happy. She looked at him with pure admiration, eagerly saying, "Open the chest quickly. I can’t wait to see what kind of reward my man will get."
Kevin smiled and opened four C-Tier Random Chests one after another.
He pulled out a can of salted fish, a pack of black stockings, a red leather whip, and a bottle of rainbow potion.
[Four-Legged Salted Fish Can: C-Tier Supply. High in salt and protein. Instantly restores stamina and vitality. Eaters will have nightmares for three days straight and may lose Sanity, driving them mad.]
[Stockings of the Sewer Mermaid: C-Tier Gear. Lowers 1 Agility, raises 3 Perception, and boosts swimming speed by 50%. Wearing it drains 1 Sanity every hour.]
[Pain Whip of the Demon Realm Nun: C-Tier Weapon. Lowers 1 Strength, raises 3 Willpower, and deals true damage to spirits. All damage dealt converts to pleasure and feeds back to the user.]
[Essence of Adult Troll Dental Pulp: C-Tier Potion. Grants massive strength, boosting it by 200%, up to a maximum of 20 points. Lasts 60 minutes. After that, you will suffer severe toothache and lose 50 Sanity.]
Kevin looked at his loot and frowned slightly.
He couldn’t say the items were useless, but they meant little to him.
The fish can was out of the question anyway. Kevin could now farm Holy Spring regularly, so he never ran out of food.
The sewer stockings and the demon nun whip simply did not fit his playstyle.
The only thing that might work was the troll pulp potion. It could boost his combat power quickly and acted as a burst card. It had value, but the side effects were too harsh to make it the best choice.
Luna noticed his frown and quickly leaned over. "What’s wrong? Not happy with your loot?"
Hearing her voice, an idea popped into Kevin’s head. Maybe the best way to use these chests was to trade them and get better rewards in return.
Kevin materialized the four items right away. "Luna, these are useless to us. I’m leaving them in your hands."
Luna stared at the row of gear and potions. "Are you giving all of this to me?"
Kevin nodded and started showing her how to use the trade feature.
For the record, the loot Kevin rolled was actually pretty valuable.
His stats were just too high, so these items didn’t add much to his build.
On the new trade platform, however, they were worth a fortune. Inquiries popped up right away.
Luna’s inbox got flooded with messages. She felt a bit overwhelmed. "Kevin, are we sure we want to trade all of these?"
Kevin nodded, his eyes sharp. "Of course. We can’t use them. It’s better to trade them for something we actually need."
Luna looked a bit nervous. "What should I ask for? Do you have any rules?"
Kevin thought for a second. "Ask for potions and gear. Ideally, something that counters spirit-type Eldritch or rule-type Eldritch. How much you get depends on your negotiating skills. Either way, whatever you trade for is yours to keep."
"Really?" Luna couldn’t believe he was just handing her four C-Tier items for free. A huge smile spread across her face.
She quickly threw herself into Kevin’s arms and pressed a hot kiss on him. "Honey, you are so good to me!"
Kevin patted Luna’s butt and urged her on. "Hurry up and trade them."
Of course, Kevin wouldn’t tell Luna that he was just exploiting a glitch in Covenant of the Saint to be this generous.
According to Covenant of the Saint’s rules, Kevin only gets a multiple return on rewards earned by the covenant-bearer.
This meant that no matter what Luna got, she had to keep full ownership of it.
Only then would Kevin get the tenfold bonus.
Kevin had no plans to explain this to her.
With Luna busy trading, Kevin turned his attention to the last two chests:
B-Tier Random Eldritch Artifact Chest...
S-Tier Random Talent Chest...
Kevin opened the Eldritch Artifact chest and pulled out a revolver.
[Wraith Revolver: B-Tier Eldritch Artifact. Costs 10 HP and 10 Sanity to summon Eldritch Entities killed by this gun. They fight for you for 10 minutes. After that, they turn hostile and hunt the artifact owner for 100 minutes. Can summon up to 10 entities at once.]
"Nice loot." Kevin eyed the Wraith Revolver in his inventory and finally smiled.
With it, he could carry his own bodyguard squad of Eldritch Entities.
Even against elite Eldritch Entities or boss-level monsters, he finally had a fighting chance.
Without further delay, Kevin tapped the last chest.
S-Tier Random Talent Chest!
But what he rolled was a Talent he knew all too well from his past life.
It was from the Mechanic path. An S-Tier Talent called "Mechanical Sovereign". It was higher than his old A-Tier Talent, "Iron Heart".
[Talent Name: Mechanical Sovereign]
[Talent Rank: S-Tier]
[Description: A mechanical kingdom will awaken deep in your soul. It can scan, build, and control all machinery. It can also create mechanical followers and command them into battle.]
[Effect: Touch any machine to scan its structure and generate blueprints. Your mechanical kingdom can build them using materials you provide.]
