Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 741 - 383 I hate you so much_3
Avery is actually quite simple; she has only her nerdy brother on her mind. If they tear down that little building and destroy the place that she cherishes, it would drive her crazy.
A chilling smile creeps onto her lips, looking rather frightening, making her once beautiful features begin to twist.
"Young Master, someone brought this box over early today, and it’s for Miss Jane."
Nanny Collins glanced at Joshua as he came downstairs, pointing at the box on the floor before turning away.
Joshua took a look at the carton, which was quite large, wondering what was inside. Could that damned suitor have sent gifts over here?
It seemed like he truly ought to break Beckett’s hands, for daring to covet his woman.
He tore off the tape and flipped open the box lid. Inside lay stacks upon stacks of photo albums, plain and unadorned, as Joshua took one out and began to leaf through it.
A sixteen-year-old girl, stunningly beautiful, stood silently among a crowd of chattering girls, so serene and distinct.
The albums were almost a chronicle of Avery’s life from age fifteen to now, each photo capturing her varied moments—her smiles, daydreams, running—everything in monochrome and color.
It wasn’t hard to see the love of the person behind the camera; these photos had only one main character, and it wasn’t difficult to guess who took them.
The last photo was dated the day before their wedding—it was a shot of Avery’s back, asleep in bed, the fine strap of her silk nightgown revealing her graceful shoulders, the low neckline clearly showing a perfect curve.
Her long legs were tucked in, her small face partly hidden by strands of hair, the photo candidly recording a slender, clean hand sweeping her smooth long hair aside, fixing the camera on her face and the hand without revealing its owner—a photo ambiguous enough to make one wonder what happened after her hair was moved.
In the photo, she seemed to be sleeping peacefully, with a gentle smile. He rarely saw Avery smiling; her sleeping smile in this picture was truly beautiful, like wind scattering blossoms across a mountain.
Joshua looked at this photo, her smile so captivating yet to him, like a heart-eating poison—her smile was only for that man called Lucas Yates, bringing a surge of helplessness from deep within.
Avery was deeply asleep, as sounds continued by her ear, possibly the phone ringing. She tried hard to open her eyes, only feeling them heavy as lead.
Her whole body felt as if it had been broken and pieced back together, that man never gave her a day of peace. She truly couldn’t understand why Evelyn would want to spend her life with such a man, seemingly as if no one else would do.
Just as she thought of Evelyn, the caller ID showed it was indeed Evelyn calling.
She was really stubborn, not wanting to leave, but even with chances she’d always find a way to go.
Moreover, he was soon to be a father, and she didn’t want to do anything to harm the child; only she wished she wouldn’t be pushed so urgently, giving her a chance to find an opportunity instead.
If she was to leave, at least she’d have to wait until that man’s guard lowered; only then could she leave thoroughly and cleanly.
Avery sighed softly and answered the phone, "Evelyn, what’s up?"
Evelyn lay on her comfortable European-style bed, as the servants arranged breakfast on the small dining table by the bedside.
While sipping juice, she spoke, "Avery, I had someone send over those photos my brother took for you first thing this morning. I wonder if you’ve seen them yet. I demolished Distance Tower last night, heard that dozens of workers took down the building overnight. I plan to build a playroom for my little one there. Anyway, having been with Joshua for a while, you must have stashed away some money. You won’t be returning to the Yates Family residence, and I’ve thrown out everything useless belonging to my brother, along with some of your old clothes—thanks to Joshua’s money, you can buy new ones. I called just to let you know not to rush; after these ten months, I’ll naturally have Joshua ask you to leave, then maybe give you some extra cash, because money is the least of our worries."
