Bride Swap Backfire: My Cousin's Rebirth Made Us a Power Couple
Chapter 238 - 102: Cheating? (Part 2)
Zhao Jing had originally intended to use his own handkerchief to wipe the moisture from her lips.
But in the end, he leaned in himself and gently lapped the moisture away.
Outside the window, the watchman’s clapper sounded for the second watch. A man’s voice called out, "Close your doors and windows! Guard against fire and thieves!"
His calls echoed, growing louder as he approached and then fading as he walked away.
At last, the voice faded into silence. Zhao Jing tidied everything up and climbed back into bed.
Chen Wanqing was sleeping facing inward, but he forcefully rolled her over to face him.
She was annoyed, but more than that, she was too flustered to face him. She was also afraid, timidly so, that he would start all over again.
The way Jing had been just now, like a starving wolf, had frightened her. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Chen Wanqing feigned anger. "It’s so late! Are you going to let me get any sleep?"
"My dear, don’t be angry. I won’t bother you again tonight. It’s just... the weather is chilly. I can only sleep well if I’m holding you."
Chen Wanqing laughed in exasperation at his endless excuses. She shot back four words, full of resentment: "You silver-tongued devil."
Zhao Jing, far from being ashamed, took it as a point of pride. He even treated it as a compliment.
He couldn’t help but laugh again. But after he laughed, a hint of unconscious worry crept into his voice as he asked Chen Wanqing, "Did you hate... what I did just now, my dear?"
’What had he done just now?’
He had kissed her all over, from top to bottom.
Although they hadn’t taken the final step, they had done everything short of it.
It wasn’t that Zhao Jing wanted to wait until she was completely willing before taking that final step.
It was purely because this was the Yue Family’s home.
According to current customs, a son-in-law visiting his wife’s family was not even supposed to share a room with his wife, as it was considered inauspicious.
Not only were they sharing a room and a bed, he was restless with desire, wanting to go even further.
But ultimately, his reason held him back.
He didn’t want their first time to be a sneaky affair, as if they were thieves in the night. More importantly, he didn’t want Wanqing to be exhausted all night, only to have to rise early the next day to avoid her mother noticing anything was wrong.
Zhao Jing was certainly considerate, but he was also insatiably greedy.
When Chen Wanqing remained silent, he continued, "Since you’re not saying anything, my dear, I’ll take that to mean you didn’t hate it. So, can I treat you like this from now on? When we get back to the Zhao Village, we’ll..."
Chen Wanqing couldn’t take it anymore and clamped her hand over Zhao Jing’s mouth.
"If you say another word, I’ll sew your mouth shut."
Zhao Jing chuckled softly, the sound rumbling up from deep within him. Chen Wanqing could feel his delight through the vibrations in his chest.
The night passed just like that.
Early the next morning, Chen Wanqing was startled awake by a strange sensation.
Sensing the pressure and dampness on her body, she didn’t react at first. But as she tried to push the weight off her, he grabbed her arm tightly. Chen Wanqing’s eyes snapped open.
Her eyes met Zhao Jing’s usually gentle and handsome face. In the dim pre-dawn light, his chiseled features were cast in a soft glow, his expression full of raw desire.
...
Chen Wanqing sat at her vanity, combing her hair. Her seductive, almond-shaped eyes, however, couldn’t stop staring at her own reflection in the bronze mirror, at her slightly swollen, well-kissed lips.
’It’s so obvious. Mother isn’t blind. What will I do if she notices?’
Zhao Jing walked over. "Are you ready, my dear? I heard Mother calling for De’an to wake up. Breakfast must be ready."
Chen Wanqing didn’t answer, so Zhao Jing strolled over.
He saw her frustrated expression, then noticed her slightly swollen lips. He couldn’t help but cough lightly, awkwardly covering his mouth and nose.
Chen Wanqing said sarcastically, "Feeling shy now, are we? Where was this shyness earlier? I told you to be gentle. You promised you would, but..."
Realizing what she’d just said, Chen Wanqing blushed and pushed Zhao Jing away.
"Get out of the way. I need to find my powder."
’If I cover it up with a little powder, Mother probably won’t notice unless she looks closely.’
But they felt uncomfortable to her. There was a slight stinging pain, and she couldn’t help but hiss in a breath at the slightest touch.
As they walked out side by side, Chen Wanqing warned Zhao Jing, "If you do that again, I’m really going to get angry."
"My dear, it was my first time, too. I don’t have any experience, so I couldn’t control my strength. With a little more practice, I’m sure I’ll get the balance right."
"Jing. From this moment on, shut your mouth. Don’t say another word, because I won’t be able to stop myself from pinching you."
"I’m tough. Feel free to pinch as much as you’d like, my dear."
"You are unbelievable..."
"What’s all the chatter so early in the morning? Hurry up and come eat. After breakfast, we’re heading back to the village."
De’an stood on the covered porch, looking down at the two of them as they emerged from the back courtyard.
