Chapter 15: The Abominable Sea of Ash. Part-2.
Although the incident with that snake monster did not cause any physical harm to Zephyr, it impacted his ’BP’ collection rate.
Quite a few people who were originally starting to believe in him lost their courage after seeing that massive snake monstrosity, and thus Zephyr’s fast ’BP’ gain stopped.
He was still earning one or two every few minutes from some people, but the rate had slowed down quite a lot compared to before.
[BP: 4835]
’Sigh... it’s been hours and I still have only managed to gain just this much?’
’This is more difficult than I was expecting...’
Belief points were not easy to collect; most people in the modern age do not believe in anything easily because of various viral scams going on in real life and on the internet nowadays.
Belief, honesty, and promises are only upheld by a small number of people nowadays.
And for Zephyr to get 1 BP, at least a hundred people need to genuinely believe in his capabilities and hope for his survival.
Although the population of humanity is in the billions, the number of people that would genuinely wish for his survival is definitely not as high at all.
The people of this world have become numb to seeing players die over and over again; the faith and hope of these people have been crushed by this horrible game world again and again.
Thus, even if someone wants to believe in Zephyr, they would still feel that the horror game is too dangerous and powerful compared to him.
’I just hope that the ’BP’ counter will reach 10,000 before I reach that giant human settlement...’
’I have a rare artifact pull chance... if I manage to pull a powerful weapon or something like an anti-tank rocket launcher or something, I might be able to protect myself from those powerful creatures...’
Although his body was tanky and strong,
Zephyr did not want to fight in hand-to-hand combat with people that were taller than mountains, strong enough to fire spears as big as skyscrapers, and smart enough to carve precise masterpieces on their weapons.
"That carving on the spearhead is likely a trap... but I have no other choice than falling in this trap voluntarily..."
If those giant people are indeed smart enough to carve such complex maps on their weapons, it’s also possible that they might have reason for doing so.
"What if... that settlement of giant people hunts their prey by shooting spears carved with the location of their settlement in random directions?"
"What if those spears are intentionally carved with maps so that if someone sees them, they would try to go to the giant’s settlement?"
"What if this is some kind of unusual prey-luring hunting practice of those giants?"
There was an endless question in Zephyr’s heart, but he had no way to answer it at the moment.
"Well, not like I have any other choice; if I want water, I will have to go there and try my luck... or I might just die from dehydration at some point..."
As a tank, having courage to face death head-on is very important; if you can’t do that, you are not qualified to be a tank!
After walking for several hours, Zephyr managed to travel quite far and managed to make considerable distance from the place where he originally encountered that gigantic snake monster.
"Unfortunately it’s still day and I can’t see the stars or I would have walked in the direction of the constellation that was engraved on that spear..."
For now, Zephyr was travelling aimlessly, and his only goal was making as much distance from that snake as possible.
He still had no idea in which direction he had to go, as stars were still not visible because of the sun.
[Invincible_Bob: I don’t know if it was a good idea to walk so far... what if the host accidently walked in the opposite direction?]
[Lightening_meteor: Well, not like he has any other choice... walking in the exact opposite direction is more acceptable than become snake food right now...]
[Shining_Lorraine: Indeed, you gotta survive the present circumstances first! only then will you have the chance to worry about future troubles!]
[Paul_the_disaster: I am more surprised that the host is still able to walk properly... he’s been walking for hours since last night and hasn’t gotten a wink of sleep due to the fear of monsters finding him...]
[....He should be dead tired by now... he’s not even eaten or drunk a single sip of water until now... if it was me... I would have already collapsed from sheer exhaustion by now...]
[Blue_Dinosaur: Now that you mention it, it’s indeed true that the host this time is really strong for some reason... his tankiness is abnormal and he’s got an abnormally strong body for some reason...]
[Shining_Lorraine: Could it be that the horror game finally grew a conscience and made him stronger?]
[Blue_Dinosaur: The horror game and conscience do not fit in the same line bruh... that’s a literal human-eating disaster hole!]
As the viewers started to debate and doubt about his strength, Zephyr deliberately started talking to himself.
"I have walked for so long... yet I don’t feel much tired at all, and even those burn marks I got from that hot silver spearhead have almost all healed back to normal so easily..."
"Did the horror game do something to me?... Ugh... I hope I haven’t been turned into some kind of inhuman monster too..."
"Although having this enhanced healing capability in this dangerous land is beneficial... I would prefer not to turn into one of those horrific monsters myself... sigh..."
By saying these words out loud, Zephyr subtly hinted that he himself didn’t know why his body was being so weird and perhaps the horror game had done something to him when teleporting him here.
Although it was a lousy trick, in the current situation, this simple trick was better, as he could put all the blame on the game world directly!
