Chapter 24: To The Residence of Giants! Part-6.

Zephyr looked behind him, and he noticed that most of the snail monsters were left behind by him in dust already, but only this single snail monster was able to somehow make it to him for some reason.

With his extraordinary combat sense and perception, Zephyr realized that the monster’s body didn’t seem in a stable condition, and even its aura wasn’t stable.

’Did it... forcefully boost its body using some skill with severe side-effects just to catch me?’

Looking at the creature that was slowly getting up and was ready to pounce on him at any time, a thought appeared in Zephyr’s mind.

’I can understand abandoning the giant dead body and consider chasing me a part of their nature and justify it with saying that they might like human meat more...’

’But this creature actually decided to accept severe side effects on its body and sacrificed its own health just to catch me? This doesn’t seem like ordinary obsession over favourite prey...’

Zephyr’s eyes narrowed as his expression became even more solemn and he took his combat stance.

’This feels more like... deep hatred rather than a hunt for food...’

Zephyr’s extraordinary perception that he had gained through his powerful combat sense was capable of helping him perceive many details.

He could sense the opponent’s aura and condition to some extent and could even sense the opponent’s emotional fluctuations through subtle aura fluctuations.

And without a doubt, Zephyr was feeling only one emotion radiate from the entire body of that giant snail toward him, and that was ’endless hatred’!

Just the merged and deformed humanoid structure of the creature was already enough to give people nightmares; knowing that the creature also hated him to the core was an extra thought for concern.

*BOOOOM!!!*

The monster did not wait for Zephyr to sort out his internal emotions and launched at Zephyr with such speed that it seemed like a massive truck was rushing towards him with full speed and force!

The ground cracked as the monster leaped forward with insane force, and the wind pressure alone was enough to blow away all the ash and smoke in the air temporarily!

’Here it comes...’

As this was the first time Zephyr was ever going to fight someone or something, he was indeed nervous, but with the ’perfect combat sense’ supporting him, ’fear’ did not exist in his vocabulary anymore.

He didn’t flinch, didn’t blink, didn’t act recklessly.

He waited, he waited like a seasoned veteran for the right moment; his weight shifted on his toes as he waited for the monster to fall into the trap.

The mindless monster, blind in its hatred, came charging at Zephyr in a straight line like a mad bull and tried to smash Zephyr into bits with its head, but Zephyr already expected this.

He bent his waist slightly, moved his toes perfectly using the proper footwork of a veteran close-range combatant, and easily dodged to the left, causing the monster to miss its target by just a few inches!

With such insane momentum, the monster couldn’t stop fast and change direction immediately.

As the monster’s body was passing by Zephyr’s side at insane speed, the perfect opportunity to strike arrived, and without further delay, Zephyr counter-attacked with full force!

He took the wide-foot stance, raised his hand high, and using his entire back to enhance the power, Zephyr gave his hundred percent into one single attack!

*BAAAAMMMMM!!!!!*

Zephyr’s hand-chop attack landed perfectly on the back of the snail monster’s shell made out of humanoid parts, straight on the midsection of the body.

The impact from Zephyr’s attack was so powerful that the snail monster’s hideous shell literally exploded on the spot.

And its weak, springy body hidden under the shell was first cut into two pieces, and then the blood pressure built up from the attack and made the two pieces explode!

Dark black blood splattered all over the area like a watermelon being hit by a bullet and splashing its contents everywhere.

The sheer force of the attack was enough to create cracks in the ground and cause debris to fly in all directions, forming a new crater on the ground by blowing away the thick layer of ash covering it!

Broken humanoid heads that were a part of the now broken shell screamed in pain as they fell in the air, twitched crazily, and then fell silent soon after. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Acidic blood covered Zephyr’s body but barely had any effect on it as his body recovered from the burn injuries automatically in just a few milliseconds, but that wasn’t what Zephyr cared about at the moment.

He was too stunned and shocked at his own power to care about anything else at the moment.

Zephyr looked at his hand, looked at the disastrous landmark he had created, and looked at the wailing and twitching body parts of the monster and felt deeply shocked.

He had never willingly killed anyone or anything before.

Whatever deaths happened in the monster realm due to him before were either because the monsters attacked him first or they collided with him and died on their own.

Even back on earth, Zephyr had at most only killed a few mosquitoes, cockroaches, spiders, etc.

He hadn’t even killed a chicken before, so he was a total amateur; seeing the ground littered with the humanoid heads and twitching innards of the creature that he had just killed, Zephyr felt deeply uncomfortable.

There was no system notification this time; there was no reward for killing the creature... all there was was the deadly silence of the empty ash desert around him.

Zephyr knew that being soft would put his own safety in jeopardy in this horror-filled world, but still, taking the life of something felt deeply disturbing.

"Sigh... I can’t stop here; it’s almost morning..."

In the end, Zephyr shook his head, calmed his beating heart, and decided to move on.

The creature tried to kill him, and there was no room for negotiation between them as the creature felt immense hatred towards him.

So, there were only two outcomes in that situation: either the creature kills him or he kills it first.

And as Zephyr wasn’t planning on dying, the choice was simple: kill the monster before it can bring him any harm.

’Sigh... I will have to be tougher in the future; I can’t always just get stunned after a battle, that would be disastrous for me in the future...’

’I need to do better... I need to be ruthless and selfish if I want to survive in this world...’

With another dead body left in his trail, Zephyr’s journey continued!
