When Wren Wynter came out, Kaden Xavier was calmly eating breakfast at the dining table, as if nothing had happened.

Just like whenever they argued over Seraphina Sutton, she was always the one who lost control and became hysterical.

And he would always remain emotionally stable, watching her one-sided tirade.

Once she was done, they would just paper over the cracks.

After Asher Lynch passed away, this had become their dynamic.

Wren Wynter suppressed her emotions and calmly sat down across from Kaden Xavier.

"Wren, thank you for bringing me back last night."

"Okay," Kaden Xavier replied.

Even without Wren saying anything, he would have hunted down the killer to avenge his grandmother.

「The Hospital.」

Wren rushed into her office, and just as she sat down, Mason Shaw walked in.

"Good morning, Dr. Wynter."

Wren was in no mood to deal with Mason Shaw, so she just gave a noncommittal hum.

Seeing her cold attitude, Mason Shaw didn’t get angry. Instead, he pulled a file from behind his back and placed it in front of her.

"This is Old Madam Xavier’s autopsy report. I knew you’d want it, so I specifically requested a copy from the medical examiner."

Wren was surprised. ’It’s not easy to get your hands on this. Mason Shaw must have connections at the police department.’

’Then again, with his background, it was probably a piece of cake.’

"Thank you."

Wren thanked Mason Shaw so earnestly that he found it a little amusing.

"Dr. Wynter, you know I’ve never been after your gratitude."

He planted his hands on the desk and suddenly leaned in toward Wren.

"I’m just kidding. Go on, read it. I’ll leave you to it." Mason Shaw shrugged and left the office.

’He knew he couldn’t rush things. With such a major upheaval in the Xavier family, Wren, as their former granddaughter-in-law, must be incredibly busy. She won’t have the headspace to think about anything else.’

’But he had patience in spades.’

’If the prey were that easy to catch, it wouldn’t be any fun.’

Wren hurriedly opened the file folder.

It stated that Old Madam Xavier had been stabbed in the chest with a sharp object, and the wound showed signs of abrasion.

This meant the assailant had repeatedly stabbed the same area.

It was impossible to know which stab had been the fatal one.

But there had definitely been many stabs.
